The days of Apple giving you more then other manufacturers have long gone

No 5G for another year when already introduced and starting to spread around the UK this year ?
And they price hike the phones. So £1049 I get a basic 11 pro and only £250 for XR trade in ? So I spent £500 renting a XR for the year. Makes you think .....

My brother bought an Oppo, and its so much faster then my XR. Picks up wifi before the train even gets in a tube station, whereas my XR often only picks it up as the train is leaving ...

I have six contracts for my family with apple phones. I am now looking at migrtation to the S10 5G across the board. It looks like it will be cheaper then upgrading to the X11, which require another upgrade next year to get 5G, whereas the Samsung's will last 2 years

After 12 years of using Apple its sad .....

5G is not widespread in most places of the world, especially the US. If the US does not have it ready then the iPhone will not get 5G. Rumors point to next year.

5G is definitely not widespread.

Its a non issue right now.

Why would you want a 1st gen 5G modem? They're battery sucking right now.

Do you have a link for this ?
I haven't heard it but maybe
5G is available where I work and the tariffs are unlimited data.
I can use netflix on the fly and can download and upload Raw from my camera for backup and editing
Its a new world

This is so true. I can technically get 5G with Vodafone if I head into London but it's not where I live just yet.

If the iPhone 11 had a first-gen 5G modem then we would kiss goodbye to that additional 4-5 hours of battery life & we'd all be worse off compared to the Xs battery life.

I think Apple have made the right decision for the vast majority of users right now.

Oh then i would like to ask how it is possible for Samsung to make a battery which works fine in a 5G phone and that makes its customers really satisfied?

Don’t forget the weight hike. She’s chunkier she’s heavier! Rah rah rah!

Considering the state of the pound (thanks Brexit) then price increases were always going to happen...

Their 5G phones are huge so can accommodate a far larger capacity battery. There's no <6" 5G device in their line-up.

S10 with 6.1" display 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8 mm - 157g - battery 3400
X11 pro with 5.8" display 144.0 x 71.4 x 8.1 mm - 188g - battery 3190

Apple is bigger in two dimensions and much heavier
Samsung has better battery dispite the weight reduction

Typical of Apple falling behind the competition but charging more ....

Last time I checked Apple customers are Satisfied given what Apple say...

Samsung have got 5G in early when it’s simply not ready yet in most markets

5G wasn't rumoured this year so why are you shocked?
5G isn't even that big in the UK yet, literally everyone is still on 4G.
Sell it on ebay, you'll get much more but I am annoyed about the UK price increase

Samsung aren't using the same materials...Apple are using stainless steel which adds to the weight.
So they're not behind, they're actually in front by using better quality materials.

Apple is overpriced but your argument above is pretty poor tbh

Apple need to use stainless steel because they don't know how to design aluminium products that don't bend

Of course the lack of 5G is an issue. Not everyone replaces their phone each year. Those who keep them longer will have no 5G access potentially for several years...

5G still won't be available next year in plenty of places, too. Have to buy the phone that's right for you.

But 4G is already fine, the average user really won't care. 5G is rumoured next year, im sure those people concerned will wait a year

It's a good thing 4G is plenty fast. They can continue to do all the things they currently do on 4G.

I don't know if you remember how bad 3G was. It couldn't do many of the things people do today: browsing Instagram for hours on the train... streaming on Facebook Live... watching Netflix and Youtube, etc.

3G was almost unusable for anything other than basic web browsing.

But once we got 4G... tons of stuff was possible. 4G is now the baseline.

3G --> 4G was a much bigger jump than 4G --> 5G

I don't think anyone should be worried about being "stuck" with 4G for a couple years.

Besides... have you seen 5G today? Every review is almost mocking it. It works great if you're standing outside directly under an access point. But step indoors? Nothing.

And that's if your city even has 5G. And I do mean city. I'd be shocked if 5G reaches outside the most densely populated areas anytime soon.

This isn't like popping up a tower and beaming a signal across many square miles. 5G relies on many small antennas in a very small area.

Even if you had a 5G phone... you probably wouldn't get 5G in most circumstances.

So yeah... the iPhone 11 doesn't have 5G. But I don't think you'll be missing much if you keep the phone for a couple years.

Ther were a lot of disappointments in the new iPhones, but I don't think lack of 5G is one of them, unless you live in one of the few 5G cities (like 5 I think).
