speaking of AOD, this thread I responded to the poster above me makes a good point, and looking at how Apple does business I wouldn't be surprised if it never comes especially if the base model continues to sell so well.

Smartphones haven't stagnated or stopped innovating. Only Apple has.

Look at the upcoming Pixel 6 compared to the Pixel 5, its a massive night and day dramatic change. Whole new design, different size and shape, all new hardware, all new software style.

This is why I like the Pixel line, they are willing to change each and every year, with an all new Design, give us something brand new every 12 months.

That's also why I liked the Nexus line too, each and every year a different manufacturer got the chance to make a Nexus phone, with their own unique design and style, and every year we got a different phone. Some years a better phone, some years a worse phone. But it was exciting to see the new Nexus phone each year. It was never a copycat same design used for several years in row, no way, never.

I hate how Apple keeps the same overall design, for like 4 to 5 years, it's lame, boring, and shows no balls to go far out there and just try something new and fresh.

Even Samsung is willing to change their design and shape and sizes each year. Yeah the Galaxy line doesn't look night and day different each year, but they are always slightly different, never a copycat from the previous year. I appreciate that Samsung does that.

Ok, rant over. LOL :)
Apple seems to base their design decisions on cars. Most manufacturers keep the same car design for 3-4 years then an overhaul.

Yea I’m laughing in a way I can’t describe once that event ended, out of all the rumors the only real changes they made was promotion (finally) and they bumped the tele lens to 3x.

But promotion and no AOD??
No Black?
No Astro mode?
No Touch ID?

Apple has lost it, innovation is dead, but much worse, they have no drive, all they care about is making money, not even the slightest concern with keeping up with the competition.

Looking forward to the pixel 6, it has everything the iPhone doesn’t have, and won’t have for probably 2-4 more years, and by then, just imagine what the pixel line, or the Galaxy phones, and the Chinese will be bringing to the table!

I can’t wait to see what the Pixels Astro mode can do with the newer larger sensors. The iPhone to me is no longer a flagship device, other players stepped in and clearly have the desire to be #1. Apple is content to just keep churning out mid-range devices, if that, at bloated prices to the masses as long as that formula keeps raking in the cash for them.

Looks like today’s event woke a lot of people up to these facts.

Apple has lost it? Are you serious. This was supposed to be an incremental update. This is what happens when you get on the leakers bandwagon. Good kick on everyone’s nuts for believing those guys.

Some people seems to not understand the smartphone marked have matured over the years and we can't expect big updates every year. From now on, it will be more like desktop computers updates with generally just specs bumps updates with some bigger updates every 4-5 years or so.

Also, with this matured markets, phones aren't meant to be replaced every year or two. They're now made to last a good 3 to 5 years. Its the same thing with samsung and google, they won't change that much every single year. Always on Display? Objectively its really not a big deal since you just have to tap the screen to see your stuff...Never understood what's the big deal with this feature.

I'm agree for the missing black colour though.
