When you're ready to switch back to the iPhone because you hate the Samsung, we'll be here. I did the same thing with the Note 10+ and was quickly reminded after a couple weeks why I still use the iPhone. It's a gorgeous phone with flashy features, but they wear off fast. Once the high refresh rate arrives this year with the new iPhones I don't really have another feature I care all too much about that the iPhone doesn't already do. The Samsung is even more annoying than typical Androids because there is literally a Samsung alternative app alongside every single Google one, including the terrible Bixby assistant. There are ways to map Bixby to default to the Google Assistant, but the phone requires a lot of fudging just to get it the way you want. They even have a terrible Samsung store. Samsung is desperately trying to be their own thing ... and they just need to embrace Google's features instead of replacing every single one with their own. It creates a mess. They are absolutely beautiful phones, but there is a lot to hate about them.

I have been a Samsung user since the S2 and can completely agree with everything you say, also it wouldn't be so bad if they used stock android, but they also include their terrible bloatware which does the os no favours. Another thing that has annoyed me with Samsung, is the Samsung Pay system, while plenty of shops support it, the majority of banks don't, in theory it was a good idea, but in practice in the UK, it is pretty much useless as it isn't universal among all banks like Apple Pay.

No one seems to be taking the IUP customers into consideration. We are already paying a certain amount per month which most likely won't change much if it all than what we are already paying. So price is not very relevant.
Problem with iUP or any other installments, is they will be paying useless 13, 14... payments until the new iPhone, and then if 2021 is normal Sept, you have to pay extra installments again to get your 12 in to upgrade.

Thing that annoyed me about Samsung Pay were the irrationally angry cashiers who wanted to fight you that you couldn't use it. It will work anywhere you can use a CC because it's magnetic, not NFC.

Really? I wasn't aware that iPhones purchased through the IUP would not operate beyond the 12th payment. Why would anyone join that program? 🤔

Am I missing something? The only official info from apple is "a couple of weeks late", and the rumor mill seemed to have settled on a staggered release in October and November, no mention of the month of December whatsoever. Why does the OP keep mentioning December?

No you aren’t missing anything. Just Karens pretending rumors are facts.

Haven’t read through the whole thread but I can see the OP eating their words. They’ll get one of the 12s when they are released. Otherwise they would have made the move to Samsung already. Besides that, the phone they currently have will still work for whenever the release happens, it’s not going to “magically” become in usable because you feel the want/need to upgrade. This coming from an iPhone user who has gone to the “dark side” twice with the s6 edge and then the s10, didn’t last long though.

Check out the rest of his posts. They’re all the same, in every thread he can post in. He’s spamming as far as I’m concerned but the mods don’t seem to care. And of course he won’t get a note 20. He just likes the sound of his own whines!

IUP ALLOWS yearly upgrades, but it takes TWO years to fully pay off the phone.

Why would anyone join the program? You buy directly through Apple. You and on your phone and get the new phone yearly and only pay tax. Apple Care is included in the 'purchase' price. No hassle trying to sell you old phone at a loss.

I understand how the program works. It's just when the release date of the new iPhone doesn't correspond with some IUP members 12 month cycle, they start complaining about how bad Apple is and how this "isn't what I signed up for". I've looked at the program description and nowhere have I found the part where Apple promises or guarantees a new iPhone will be released exactly every year after the last one.

I don’t care for a new iPhone but I want this corona thing 🦠 to go away so that we can live a happy and peaceful life which we used to do before. Its too boring now locked in the home for months.

According to a leaked promo from a carrier, looks like the low end iPhones won't be out until Oct 23rd, which will push the Pro models well into Nov, as Prosser said. Prices are higher than expected too, making it the most expensive iPhone ever. So lets see...months late with the iPhone, no 120hz screen, no real upgrades aside from design changes, and the most expensive iPhone ever. Great job Apple...

Not quite. The leaked promo says that preorders end on October 20. But that is a Tuesday, and preorders normally end on Thursday. Tom’s Guide thinks that October 20 could be a placeholder and speculates the actual release date might be Friday, October 23.

In other words, no one knows for sure. (Last week, some people were certain the new iPhones would be announced on September 15, based on leaked ad from Target.)

We all knew the iPhones weren't coming in Sept, Apple even said so themselves. That leak appears to be spot on with Prosser saying an iPhone event would be held on Oct 12th. I wouldn't be surprised if they are even later. Ive been saying no iPhones until Nov and no Pro models until Dec. Apple is way behind and their stock is going to take another big hit.

I have to say charging more for the iPhones this year is a rather strange strategy. Considering spending is down globally with the pandemic, you’d think Apple would have worked towards making the phones more affordable even if they are a more premium offering. The Apple Watch saw a price reduction even if it was just 20 quid so I’d expect the iPhone to offer something even if it’s their mainstream iPhones and not the Pros.

Note, the Apple Watch didn't really go down in price in terms of US $. You guys just get lower pricing thanks to better exchange rate.

I dont expect apple to ramp up the prices of their devices this year. They may recoup it over the years bit I think they will be sensible.

Lockdown basically started mid March here in the UK and I would fully expect this to disrupt a lot of progress within the economy. I'm sorry but whatever way you look at it, the pandemic has affected so much more. This pandemic whilst might be frustrating, it certainly isn't stupid.

Yes it seems like a mess, but spare a thought for those of us affected by the pandemic by more than just a phone.

I'm looking forward to this as much as the next guy/girl but I sure as hell will be happy knowing Apple has done things the right way and sensible. No-one knows the severity of the lockdown at Cupertino more than Tim Cook himself.

I don’t expect prices to go up either. These tech reviewers like Jon Prosser are in a bit of a blind bubble I think. All they see is 5G and assume Apple will have to charge more. The reality is the world economy has been hit hard by the pandemic and consumers are spending wisely. Putting £100+ on iPhone prices will potentially put a lot of people off upgrading or choosing a new model and Apple aren’t stupid. I think mobile companies will be very lucky if they get sales figures like previous years in light of what is going on and hiking up prices is very risky ground indeed.

Apple would rather have enough inventory on hand than rush it out
Most likely it will come out in December or before because Apple needs the sales for the fiscal quarter

20% of that is VAT, though. At current exchange, £379 is $485.35. Take out the 20% tax and that’s just ~$405.

I appreciate that but companies have to factor in 20% VAT with their pricing strategy too. Apple have their margins which undoubtedly are slightly different depending on what country they are selling in. The VAT in the UK is the difference between a product that is appealing and one that is not. This is why Apple UK work closely to make sure the products remain competitive.
