I'm the exactly the same as the rest.. Wanting a to get a Mac but now I'm not sure if I should wait a month or two which I dont want to or just get the one out right now! Any suggestions?

at first I was bummed by the non announcement, but now I'm actually pretty stoked. I ended up buying the 24" iMac I'd been looking at last night refurbed for $300 off it's normal price. Had I bought it in December it would have been full price... Plus, now I'll get iLife 09 for $9 which is great (iMovie and iDVD are 2 of the big reasons I'm getting a mac finally). Plus, all my PC buddies have been busting my balls over the price for what you get. So bringing it down $300 certainly helps there (paying over $2k for a desktop was nagging me a bit).

Sure they'll eventually upgrade the iMac. Maybe even this month. For that reason I'm thrilled I didn't get a "new" one, but I'm excited to finally have my firts mac on the way. I'm hoping for my sake they don't update the iMacs until at least march, since by then I would have had to buy anyway... That or they do it in the next 14 days so I can return mine if they're that good...

Build it and they will buy!!!!

The iMac are coming, everyone just needs to be a little patient. The quad core chipset and nvidia boards need time to go through the proving stage. I only got my iMac last June right after they introduced the improved processor speed. Most companies introduce new products once a year, so that puts Apple in the position of offering us something in and around May or June.

I wanted to buy a 24" iMac for my Dad this Jan but guess would have to wait. I was counting on the LED scree and quad core processor with a Decent Graphics Card guess it was too much to ask.

You aren't going to see quad cores coming out until after Q1, if they put them in the iMac at all.

... so they'll loose my $2,000... I doubt it will be any skin off their backs

You can be quite sure of that:D

I'm glad I just sucked it up and bought my 24" imac refurb for what I consider a great deal last month while everyone here was screamin "WAIT, WAIT a new one is coming!!!!"

I followed my doubt and played the odds... and whaddya know? It actually paid off.;)

Yea it was crappy. Maybe Apple didn't want to give people too good taste of last MW so they would not miss Apple so much in there.

Wait for late January/early Feb. and I think new ones will come

Well I'm writing this from my new iMac... 2.8ghx 24", HP Printer, 3 Year Apple Care = $1,947.... Pretty good if I do say so myself... And I get $100 back for the printer, then I'm going to sell it for another $100... So #1,747 in the end. I plan on selling it when the newer ones come out (if the upgrade is worth it.) I checked completed sales on ebay, and the 2.4ghz models are still selling for $1.600+ so if I sold it for that much it would only be $100 more after my student discount for a new iMac.... I'm happy with this but I still feel like im buying an old machine, even though its brand new...

This MacWorld EXPO might have been disappointing, but it is not altogether discouraging. We are entering the traditionally active time of year for Apple releases (January, February, March, April). I would be very inclined to expect one or more additions to existing mac lines within this time span.
