I was to upset about no new mini. My 2011 mini lets me do everything I want, just want to get an SSD for it in the future. The only major thing I do is Final Cut Pro and the mini with 8GB of ram works fine for me.

From what I can find there are no Haswell mobile quad-core HD5000 or HD5100 processors.... only HD4600 or Iris Pro HD5200.

This is true!

Besides, not sure if this was mentioned, but the 13'' rMBPs (BTO i7 2.8GHz dual-core mobile Haswell processor) come with HD 5100 graphics, while the Airs only have HD 5000. I believe that the difference is rather small (20%), but maybe something to consider. (compared with the upcoming Mac Mini)

Iris Pro 5200 graphics appears in 15'' rMBPs only! (compared with the new 21.5'' iMacs)

PS: I mean, it is very likely to find:
a. dual-core i5 mobile Haswell processor + HD5000 (low-end Mac Mini, almost everybody knows...) ...BUT...
b. dual-core i7 mobile Haswell processor + Iris 5100 (high-end Mac Mini, almost disappointing).

This make sense but even a HD5100 would be a serious improvement over the HD4000 as some recent tests have indicated…. No?

It depends on how you want to take it....for example, Iris 5100 + dual-core mobile i7 processor doesn't sound as a serious improvement...

Most of the customers want to buy a full quad-core i7 processor with iGPU such as Iris Pro 5200...which seems to be difficult (as of today)....

ahh, bugger.. i forgot that the 5100 i7 wasn't a quad …. :(

Do we know how the 4600 performs in comparison to the 4000?

Presumably the 4600 is better and given the new HW management that 10.9 brings with it and the CPU and GPU being on the same die there would still be some relatively good performance increase… no?

Unless APPLE redesign or re-arrange the existing Mac Mini, you won't find quad-core i7 mobile processor Haswell + Iris Pro 5200 in the new Mac Mini.

Of course, HD4600 graphics may be an alternative option...less powerful, though.

there is a discussion here about that:

Probably not coming till Mid-November at the earliest. More likely alongside the Mac Pro or even more likely next year.

In my opinion,

if no new Mac Mini after a couple of weeks ...I'll think to order a new 21.5'' iMac.

If you need portability, choose a new 13'' rMBP.

First, let's wait a little bit more...

there will be a silent update before 2014, it will be stupid to waste the holiday season without something new for the people to buy.

While I'd agree, is Mac mini one of those things that people give to others during the holiday season?

So So SO disappointed.

Hope they don't kill it off like the non retina MBP's

No, the mini's have a decent sized market amongst HTPC users and people who use it as servers.

I've posted this before, I'll say it again.

There won't be a new Mini this year.

Apple still has not introduced the new Mac Pro yet, and any revamp of the Mini will come _after_ the Mac Pro has hit the market and is selling.

Apple will not let the Mini steal from Mac Pro sales or impact them if possible. The best way to assure this is to hold back the Mini introduction to let the Mac Pro shine on its own.

I would expect to see a new Mini (that is, if there's going to _be_ a new Mini) up for sale in January or February 2014.

Maybe December, but again, ONLY after the Mac Pro is on the shelves...

They're really two different markets. If you're considering a Mac Pro, the next one you'd consider is the iMac, not the mini. If the mini works for you, you probably don't need a Pro.

I agree!

I will wait till the end of Nov. 2013....not later!

I agree with this. Also the two very different markets. In any case though. The current 2.6 i7 quad is quite powerful!! Geekbench scores put it in the midst of 2013 15" rMBP…

given the price difference that is something quite impressive i think.

So perhaps we may not even see a refresh on that basis alone…?

Very likely...but remember, HD4000 graphics isn't as powerful as Iris series...and also remember, 4K res. is coming soon...

ahh, yes i forgot about 4K…

Though i am running my MBP as HTPC/server atm and that is what the mini will be replacing…

On the other hand, I am thinking ...."if this delay gives the appropriate time to let APPLE incorporate TB2 (DP1.2) & HDMI 1.4 into a new Mac Mini along with the IRIS series graphics, it will be very welcome!!!"
correct?

well, i am not against waiting for updates IO but there has got to be a point where to stop otherwise why not wait for the new USB version? etc, etc, etc…

Mainly i really want to replace my MBP with a mini already :D

on the other hand, I don't want to wait just to see a coffee cup size Mac Mini without enough power inside....
