One of the reasons I went for in store pickup was so that I could trade in my phone at the same time and not have to worry about mailing it in or waiting, but I was a bit surprised to see this note in my email confirmation:

Is that something new? I had thought that in previous years you could trade in at the store when you picked up your new phone.

That’s weird because I got an email after I chose pick up that says to prepare my phone for trade in before I bring it to the store.

I also selected in-store pickup for my order and my details say trade-in kit will be mailed out to me.

I wonder if in-store trades are for selected stores? I'm in California btw

Strange. I’m doing the T-Mobile offer where I trade in a device to Apple and T-Mobile will give me $500 in credit on top of that. I wonder if that offer can’t be done in store or something.

I wanted to do the in store trade in but mine stated that I would recieve a kit. Not exactly thrilled about doing the kit.

Must be something just for trade in? I’ve done the IUP the past couple of years and that I was able to bring in to the Apple store whenever I got the new iPhone.

I’ve received that notice in the past, but when I picked up the new device at the Apple store, they took my old device for trade in with no problem. It may depend on the store.

FWIW, I chatted with Apple yesterday and they said that regardless of how you receive the new phone, you can trade in via the mail in kit or take it into an Apple store. Whether a different rep gives a different answer, who knows.

Yea my email included the trade in kit as well. I’ll take it to my local store first to try that route. Just curious is it processed fatser dropping it off or does the apple store still ship it out somewhere

I'm picking up my new ipad mini in Louisville next friday and it says to bring in my trade in to the store. I assume it is based on what store you are dealing with?

Last year I got the same email saying that the trade in would be carried out through the kit but I showed up at my apple store in Orlando and the took my iPhone X no questions asked. I've read that even though they send the kit this is not the only way and you can go to any store and make the trade in.

I had the same issue in 2019 when I was trading in my XS for the 11 Pro Max. It forced me to do the trade in online but on launch day there were TONS of folks who were able to do the trade in at the Apple Store when they picked up their new phone. Not sure if things have changed because of Covid.

Has anyone preordered through apple doing that is doing the AT&T trade in offer?wondering what their confirmations say. I will be doing this and very much prefer to trade in at the store

So if Apple is going to send the kit when we take it to them then why not just ship the kit yourself ? I’m in the same boat. Just curious

Hey. has anyone offered their experience trading their iPhone to Apple?

I have my iPhone in perfect condition, except for 1 scratch that you can feel with a finger (about a half inch long). Its 100% not a crack, just a deep scratch.

Y'all think they'll accept that?

My email says same thing about mail in kit for trade in, but FAQ on actual order page says that if new phone is being upgraded in store, it can be traded in store.

Have the same question (and will find out on Friday morning, I guess - I'll bring my old phone!) but does anyone know when the mail-in kits will ship? I have two iPhones to trade and haven't seen tracking info for either.
