The only device to ever allow upside down rotation are the iPads. No iPhone has ever done upside down rotation.
Lies.

Voice Memos was definitely allowed to be turned upside down. I have done it many times to record parts of a weekly rehearsal. Holding it upside down meant the mic was facing outward.
I just tried it now with the X, and it didn’t rotate. I guess that’s out. It’ll be interesting to see how it records.
[doublepost=1548348430][/doublepost]In that case you need better glasses My 6S always sat upside down with google maps on for directions but this XR won’t do it. Going back to 6S and sending the XR back. The one thing I need it to do and it doesn’t do it. What a load of rubbish. The only device to ever allow upside down rotation are the iPads. Y’all need to stop resurrecting this old thread. I get it, I made a mistake. You and several others have obviously corrected me. Let it go.
[doublepost=1559363456][/doublepost]Not true. I have placed my iPhones upside down while charging for years because I couldn’t lean it against something and read with the cable in the way. But the X won’t rotate. The only device to ever allow upside down rotation are the iPads. No iPhone has ever done upside down rotation.
Show video proof of this. Not possible without a jailbreak.[doublepost=1559363456][/doublepost]Not true. I have placed my iPhones upside down while charging for years because I couldn’t lean it against something and read with the cable in the way. But the X won’t rotate.
Why do you guys keep resurrecting this old thread? Did you fail to see the other posts that have already pointed out that I was incorrect?[doublepost=1559363456][/doublepost]Not true. Not true. I have 2 iPhones that rotate to upside down viewing. The only device to ever allow upside down rotation are the iPads. No iPhone has ever done upside down rotation.
Neither of my phones are jailbroken and have this feature. No need to be argumentative with your disbelief. Nobody has anything to gain from lying about an iPhone’s features!Show video proof of this. Not possible without a jailbreak.
I miss this feature, also. It’s apparently possible on iPhone X, XR, XS but my friends and I haven’t found a resolution to date. I use a lanyard and when I’m chatting on loud speaker, I have to tip the phone to be comfortable with the lanyard around my neck but, it won’t rotate. Such a shame. It’s definitely worth sending Apple the feedback, I already have.Correct. The 6S rotated upside down. It was a great feature because I could leave my phone plugged in to charge in my car and the maps app would rotate to the correct orientation while the phone was upside down. Miss this and hope they bring it back in the future.
What if I had a genuine interest in seeing a feature I wasn't aware of? It's kinda hard for me to believe when it's text-only. What apps do you use that rotate upside down? Not true. I have 2 iPhones that rotate to upside down viewing.

I believe a number of different examples have been provided in various posts in this thread. What if I had a genuine interest in seeing a feature I wasn't aware of? It's kinda hard for me to believe when it's text-only. What apps do you use that rotate upside down?

There haven't been any video/picture examples thoughIt's kinda hard for me to believe when it's text-only.
Well, that was in answer to the question that was posted:There haven't been any video/picture examples though
If we are talking about believing the information, that's somewhat different. What apps do you use that rotate upside down?
It rotates upside down for me on iOS 12 in iPhone SE. I need my browser and several other apps to do that as well. I'll search for a browser that allows this. Sad Safari is out, it works great on iPad as has been mentioned.
***Sometimes I plug my phone in and place it upside down in the cup holder of my wife’s car and bring up waze.
The iPhone X doesn’t appear to allow apps to be displayed upside down. I realize the notch might be the reason, although in Waze’s case, the app hasn’t been updated for the iPhone X yet.
Is this true? Are there any examples of apps working while upside down? I haven’t found any. Maybe we will get this back in a future iOS update?
