No USB C to USB A Cable Supplied with New iPad Pro?

I just realised that there is no USB C to USB A cable supplied with new iPad Pro. This means if you want to use iTunes (or any 3rd party Apple device management program like iMazing), you will need either a computer with USB C port or get your own USB C to USB A cable.

Now there's the question of whether the supplied USB C to USB C charging cable can also be used as a data cable...

The included USB-C cable can definitely be used for data too. USB-A is dying fast, I'm not surprised they don't include a second cable.

Thank you for the link but this is the problem..... I find it weird that in order to connect an Apple device to another Apple device you have to pay, whereas this used to be free.
E.G. To backup to iTunes on either the MacBook Pro 2015 model or the same year iMac it was free as you used a standard USB to Lightning cable.
However, now it would appear in order to do the same you have to purchase an additional cable.

Don’t get me wrong, I fully understand and agree with you.
I have been using Apple products for years and have most items.
However, in those ‘golden years’ it was still expensive BUT you didn’t have to think of anything other than the devices, everything came and went together....
These days however, Apple are hell-bent on how it looks with even more expensive devices but then have the audacity to either remove cables or expect you to pay extra to use said expensive devices.

I am getting ever so close to thinking...... enough is enough Apple!

On the contrary, for those few people who have only USB C on their computers, they have to get their own USB C to Lightning cable too when working with the previous releases of iDevices.Looks like things are in their favour for once!

You mean like how no iPhone headphones connect to any non iOS device? (MAC)
When it come down to it all new mac devices come with type c so it would be worse if they didn’t support their new computers over old. Type c is a standard so it’s not like you can’t get a cheap wire unlike lightning anyway.

MacBooks have shipped with USB-C for coming up to 3 years and tiny adapters are extremely cheap for machines with legacy ports. They need to move on at some point and now seems a good one.

I never connect my iPad to my Mac so I’m really not too worried about this - though I do have USB-A to USB-C cables around (I think from my Nintendo Switch or maybe in the past when connecting a 4th gen Apple TV - which reminds me, the Apple TV must have been Apple’s first product with USB-C).

Anyway, I think its good to have USB-C to USB-C. Past few years I recall a lot of complaints around those who have MacBooks with USB-C ports but iPhones were shipping with lightning to USB-A.

Hopefully now we just move toward USB-C everywhere. Though I think Apple’s intentions for the iPhone and anything smaller (AirPods, Pencil, Watch, etc) will use inductive charging.

Otherwise I got this below never seen a stronger cable of it type. They have Type A to C as well. Just wonder if the iPad will charge through such a long cable.

Speaking of 30 pin... my exercise bike is 30 pin. Any thoughts on whether there’s a dongle or adapter strategy that will charge it from bike?

The accessory makers got burned badly when they built 30-pin connectors into all those radios, exercise equipment, clocks, etc. They never switched to lightning and won’t be adding USB-C either. Even the headphone/earphone makers haven’t adopted lightning or USB-C en masse.

Honestly, my gut says that they're shipping in the box what is essential for charging the device (no more, no less). And they're not really concerned about the ability to connect an iOS device to a computer anymore (obviously it can still be done, but some people might be in the situation where a different cable is needed). With iPhones shipping in tens of millions every month, it's probably a cost saving move to still use the 5W charging block with USB-A to lightning cable as opposed to USB-C.

You’re last sentence is probably right. which I’m sure is why the Pros shipped with 12w USB-A charger. I still think from a customer standpoint USB-C would be better, especially since that’s what all their laptops have moved to.

Yes USB-C to Thunderbolt 2 or 3 works, I googled it....have Thunderbolt 3 on the back of my iMac (2017).
