I know exactly how you feel..... I have zero issues with progress but have a massive problem with rich company’s who don’t give a flying fig to their long established user base who prop up their expensive ‘Shareholders pockets’!!

Aye, it would have been nice, considering this is the first generation of iPad that's made the change, if they had included an adapter in the box for those of us who's computers haven't made the switch to USB-C. Doesn't seem to be the way of Apple anymore though. Hell they didn't even bother with a headphone adapter. I don't need one, but some people likely will.

Apple will allow me to pay over one thousand pounds for a new iPad Pro but they don’t include a USBA to USB-C cable, making me pay another nineteen pounds to connect it to my iMac.

Wonderful that we have yet another thread discussing the same issue.
Mods, can you please start to merge this stuff?

well the point of USB-C to make a cable that is universal on both ends... USB-C to USB-C, identical both sides. Every modern Mac sold has USB-C ports and likely in 2019 or 20 at the latest the iPhone will also go USB-C so it makes sense that is their focus. there are plenty of cheap USB-C to whatever cables on Amazon to be had but Apple has ALWAYS forced the user *and* the industry forward even if it is painful... floppy drives, CD drives, headphone jacks, firewire etc. and its by making those tough choices that get everyone to move forward.

Most people never connect iPads to Macs.

THIS! UBC-C to USB-C is the cable that makes sense to move forward.

Yeah, you've got it wrong ;)

You have a computer with an interface that Apple is obviously moving away from, so just bite down and pay the £19. Or, you could use it as an excuse for a new iMac.

They didn’t include a lightning to USB C for my iPhone and MacBook Pro. This is such a non issue.

the included USB-C to USB-C cable supports charging and USB 2.0 data speeds. for USB 3.1 speeds and support of 4K & 5K monitors you need to buy another USB-C to USB-C cable that supports that, they are thicker and more expensive.
I purchased the 2m cable from Apple. It’s noticeably thicker than the one in the box. Does that support usb 3.1?

I bought a ipad pro 12.9 not thinking that I needed a usb-c to usb-a cable as it never entered my mind since all apple cables have used usb-a. the new iPads do not come with any USB-C to USB-A cables like previous years.

I own a pc and not a mac so none of my 4 pc`s have usb-c, and as I have photos and music and books stored on my pc there is no way of getting the content onto the new iPad.

I have not even used the iPad yet because of this and was a bit annoyed that the apple staff where not aware of this as a lot of pc users and some older mac users don't have usb-c. so I looked into apples online website and found this.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT209186#computer

so basically you need a new cable but apple suggest this belkin cable, its usb 3.1 to usb-c so its very future proof and is a fast cable transfers as many cables I have found are usb 2.0 or usb 3.0 only or are not certified USB-C cables which could mean incapability problems later on or slow transfer speeds, so I got this cable as I got it half price and supports USB2.0, USB3.0 and USB3.1.

if you live in the uk you can get it half price from amazon here

hope it helps
