Nomad dock v nomad pod

Hey all, I am looking at both these. Here are my thoughts and why I am struggling to pick between the two.
- the nomad dock looks absolutely amazing (slightly concerned about metal on metal docking) however offers no other functionality other than a docking/charging solution
- for the same price you can get a pod which not only docks and charges (although not as fancy looking) but also stores charge for 4 x charges of the apple watch. However is it just me or is there no reason in having this extra charge if you are going to be charging it every night anyway since the battery is supposed to last a full day? Then what is the reason of having the pod as I can just carry my charging cable and find a PowerPoint? (I guess you can charge on the move but is it worth it?) in saying that though there won't be a need to carry a charging cable if it is supposed to last a whole day.

Am I missing something and what is everyone else choosing that are torn between the two nomad products?

I've already preordered the Nomad Stand and have no regrets. It looks better than any stand/charging solution available. I'm getting two watches to alternate between, so the pod wouldn't be necessary for me, but if I only had one watch, I'd still buy the stand over the pod (or anything else, for that matter). I can't see why it would be necessary to have anything else.

Your spot on. The Nomad stand is, in my opinion, leaps and bounds higher quality and the prices of both items reflect their relative quality. The Nomad stand pairs perfect with the style and design of the watch.

It's only good for travelling if you don't have access to any power points right? Otherwise you could just use the standard charger that comes with watch.

I got the Pod because I figure it is more useful in the case where I forget to charge my watch overnight, which is going to happen once in awhile. I'll just stick my watch on the pod in the morning, stuff it in my purse, and by the time I get to work where I need it, it will be charged.

Exactly, but I often do Running Trails (one week duration) an I don't know where I have access to electricity, so with the the pot I have more liberty of action

They are both for completely different purposes. One is a stand designed to stay in one place and be a nice way of charging your watch on your desk or bedside table, the other. Is a portable charger designed to be taken out and about to charge your watch when there are no power points available (e.g. Camping). The latter can still be achieved with any ordinary USB battery pack so you are paying for the convenience of having it all wrapped up in one device.

Good choice...although I got a SG Sport and a leather loop...same effect..much cheaper!

Seriously though, it was a tough choice between the two!

That was exactly the other configurations I had in mind. But in the end I picked the SS for its sapphire glass, and it just felt heavier/more premium on the wrist.

I couldn't justify the cost increase. I love the look of the Space Grey sport and it goes well with other straps so I thought I'd be sensible for a change and go with the lower cost option!

I've not been in to an Apple Store though...I'd struggle to leave without a watch! I want the first one to see/feel is my own when I open the box!

You're correct on that. It won't work well with any band that doesn't separate at the clasp. I bought one, I like the fact that it stores the spare charger and has the battery inside. I can use the battery for more than just the watch, too.

I canceled my Spigen stand on Amazon today and opted for the better designed and thought out Nomad stand. "FB22" got me 22% off which made it about $55 after shipping. (Also ships a lot sooner than the Spigen)

Just took another look at their site and found this:

Exactly. Space grey sport (black band) and space black SS.

Ill be charging them as I sleep so this was the perfect option.

Maybe I am just a light traveler, but I can't imagine bringing along any of these stands, charging cases, etc. I need everything I take to be small, light, and fast. Apple's stock charging cable checks those boxes and will give me the flexibility I need on the go. My guess is that they designed it with this in mind.

At home? I'll probably buy some type of stand that stays there.

I don't like neither of those. I'm getting the one from mophie. It look great and I like how the leather protects the watch from scratches. I can only imagine the other stand scratching up the watch as you try to pulling it off the stand. I used mope products before and they are great. I wouldn't trust kickstarter stuff you never know what you'll get in the end and it usually takes forever to produce and ship.
