Maybe I am just a light traveler, but I can't imagine bringing along any of these stands, charging cases, etc. I need everything I take to be small, light, and fast. Apple's stock charging cable checks those boxes and will give me the flexibility I need on the go. My guess is that they designed it with this in mind.

At home? I'll probably buy some type of stand that stays there.

I'm with you on how you travel- I travel frequently and I try to get by with as few items as possible. I can't imagine taking a dock with me.

I don't like neither of those. I'm getting the one from mophie. It look great and I like how the leather protects the watch from scratches. I can only imagine the other stand scratching up the watch as you try to pulling it off the stand. I used mope products before and they are great. I wouldn't trust kickstarter stuff you never know what you'll get in the end and it usually takes forever to produce and ship.

I read somewhere else that nomad made a statement about damage from metal on metal and they assured that it wouldn't as the aluminium of the stand is of a softer hardness so it won't damage the back of the apple watch. I guess they also have 30 day return policy of this isn't true.

If it isn't true, I'm not worried about getting my money back, I'm worried about ruining my much more expensive watch.

Not sure about the soft alumnium claim but i'm sticking with the premium leather on the mophie. I'm sure the magnet is strong so pulling it out everyday might create small unessasary scratches here and there. I just like the look of it and the protection is a plus. $60 is a bit high for a stand but i figured since I'm getting a nice watch I might as well buy a nice stand.

Yeah I would get the mophie. Pulling metal from metal is never a good combination. The mophie even has a leather base incase the watch falls and it looks like a premium product. Check it out

True but I'll test it out for the first week taking extra care to see how much contact is made with the watch and if there's potential there for future damage I'll be returning instantly

Someone in another thread mentioned adding a thin layer of microfiber cloth to the top bit that comes in contact with the watch. I think I might do that! I can't give this stand up because it's leaps and bounds the best looking option imo

It annoys me that nomad couldn't add this during the manufacturing stage. But that sounds like a great idea. Very true about the design being one of the best. Love the space grey!

I've already preordered the Nomad Stand and have no regrets. It looks better than any stand/charging solution available. I'm getting two watches to alternate between, so the pod wouldn't be necessary for me, but if I only had one watch, I'd still buy the stand over the pod (or anything else, for that matter). I can't see why it would be necessary to have anything else.

I don't work for the company, FYI, but there's a coupon code for 22% off all Nomad products. I'm not sure when it expires, but it's good right now. The code is FB22

THANK YOU!!! Yes! I am screaming! I just happened to see this post as I was checking out on Nomad for the stand. The code works! You saved me $13!:D

I am not ordering a dock for home, but I did order the Nomad charging pod. I will have this and my Mophie power reserve for my iPhone. Won't have to worry about cables, just grab and go, plenty of power for an overnight trip or 2. A nice compact set for my devices (iPad won't need a charger ;) )

Folks,

Please be aware that many of us on this forum are having problems with Nomad shipping out our product.

They have been using a no-name delivery company to get product shipped to the United States. As such, many of us having been waiting weeks for product that may not arrive.

Meanwhile, NOMAD has refused to offer refunds --- cutting off communication for people that ask for one.

Be very careful dealing with this company.

No name delivery company? Ocean freight? Air? Freight Forwarder? NVOCC?

Done like that the base isn't weighted, the colour (prefer space grey), and also don't like that it has no section to conceal the cable like the nomad does
A portion of the cable shows at the top of the stand it's ugly after they changed the design and they screwed their customers in favour of getting stands to Best Buy. I cancelled my order after the design change but people who didn't now still don't have their stand they pre ordered in April or March but people can walk into Best Buy and buy one there and then. Awful company. I will never spend another cent with them.

Background regarding the stand. Pre-orders started in March at a discounted price before the stand was manufactured. Apple's chargers coming out in two configs caused a delay. I ordered my stand on April 20 believing it would ship from China in May. Shipping began at end of May with later orders out by June 7 from info from Nomad.

Tracking was provided by DirectLink, part of PostNord. PostNord is co-owned by the countries of Sweden and Denmark and provides mail delivery internationally. In 2010 Wikipedia indicates they had over 44,000 employees. This is not some no-name delivery company.

All that said once DirectLink got the packages the tracking has been spotty for many. Some show tracking all the way through, many showing In Transit or In Customs but with little comment afterwards. People mostly in Europe have been receiving packages for about a week now. DirectLink has informed Nomad about a customs clearance issue for US orders (and I think Canadian was mentioned as well) that has caused a delay but said they believed Customs was ready to release them. Initial tracking has begun appearing on USPS when people plug in their DirectLink tracking number through the USPS site. I suspect in the next day or two we will see origin and departure info listed and at some point USPS will give an expected delivery date. All of our stands are being sent Registered Mail. I have no doubt mine and others will reach us in the next week.

Some people on the other thread have decided not to wait and asked for refunds and have gotten them after a few days through their credit card. For those canceling while the package is enroute, I'm not sure what the refund process will be but doubt people won't get their money back.

BTW I am still thinking about ordering a charging pod. Like the design. Think it's still in manufacturing stage. I haven't had an issue yet with battery usage on my Watch but then again am not yet using it with heavy usage of apps and such. I'm also having fun looking for bands for it so a pod isn't top on my list right now. Once the pod is in stock I'll rethink it.

Another warning for folks thinking about dealing with Nomad: they have acted poorly on so many levels and there is a very good chance you will experience the same thing. Here's a list of things they've done so far:

1) Took money months ago from people for a "pre-order" of the Nomad Stand.
2) Produced a giant batch, but didn't fulfill the pre-paid orders. They sent them all to Best Buy instead. Those people that paid months ago still do not have a product in their hands today.
3) When multiple people started requesting refunds, Nomad began pushing to refund their money through PayPal instead of the credit card company in which the customers used to pay. This is a major breach of contract with the credit card companies.
4) Nomad eventually shipped Stands to people that pre-paid, but it's been over 4 weeks now and not a single one (that we're aware of) has arrived in the hands of a MacRumors forum member.

It's in your best interest to stay far, far away from this company.

Aaaah, thank you for this one.

I have been attempting to get my credit card refunded. Should be easy....right?

Well, NOMAD cut off communication with me after I asked for a refund. I then contacted the Better Business Bureau.

So, miraculously, a reply from Chlöe arrived in my email box soon thereafter.

She was trying to process my refund and said that the credit card system was giving her an error so she wanted to do it through PayPal.

So, in essence, she was probably lying to me.

I told her that my credit card company (who phoned me yesterday to confirm details) would be in touch with them.

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY

One final thought for now...

I realize I have a refund in the process. However there is still a point to be made...

My stand has been sitting in Chicago for at least 5-6 days now.

I work for the Postal Service. There is no way that a parcel would be sitting in the post office for that long without movement with the exception that it was sent media mail, which is our lowest priced service, and very slow delivery.

Even sent media mail, the package should still not be sitting in one place for so long.
