As the title says, anyone else in the same boat? I don’t like the size factor of the Max iPhone and always prefer the smaller Pro year after year but the camera difference this time around seems to be significant. Am I just buying the marketing hype of the new camera on 15 Pro Max and should just stick with the smaller size 15 Pro which I much prefer or go with the 15 Pro Max for the first time?

I find 3x way more useful in life than 5x. You still get the other features, so if you don’t really want 5x just get the non pro.
What do you mean “non pro”? I’m getting the 15 Pro, not interested in the non-pro iPhone 15. What I’m contemplating about is whether I should go for the 15 Pro MAX for the superior camera over the smaller 15 Pro or not

My iPad was lagging (thank you beta software) and didn’t register me typing ”non pro max” properly. The only difference between the P and the PM camera system is 3x vs 5x.

Yes me Too. Intended too get the pro but not much difference with previous pro. The max seems to have a better camera feature. hard decision wether to go for the max or last year pro or this year pro…..

Yeah same, but I always go for the best camera. I’ve had the PM before though & I adjusted pretty quickly, so I will again.

Are you sure it’s just the zoom lens? I got the impression the entire camera system as a whole is more advanced on the Pro Max thanks to that new 120mm zoom mechanism which aids the other lenses as well in taking better photos

Yeah, I am struggling with this too. The only positive I can think of, if you want to call it that, is I usually go for the non-max and by getting the max it might feel more different, thus hiding the fact to me that most other changes are incremental.

I never owned a Max phone. I tried the size and it’s just very uncomfortable so I always go with the smaller Pro but I don’t know this new 15 Pro Max Camera hype is getting to me but I don’t know maybe it’s just a marketing thing and I should buy the smaller 15 Pro as I normally would

The changes are actually huge in terms of the GPU and Ray tracing among other performance enhancements. I’m very excited about the new 15 Pro

That's great you think so. I can't say I am a huge phone gamer so don't really think it will make too much of a difference to me. Impressive what they can do with phone chips now though.

Yep. I was getting flashbacks to the 6 Plus/7 Plus days with OIS and additional camera.

I always like to have the best camera, so I suffered through the 6P/7P until we got back on track with identical cameras for the X and beyond (save for the 12PM??).

This year, I'm not going to give in... the 5X zoom is just not worth the extra size/bulk. Forget about the price difference, I have small hands and don't want to go back to jumbo.

no its the zoom only I believe, and apples amazing marketing! Apple wants you to go to max, to get ready for phones getting larger next year with the 6.3 and 6.9". That's why the price increase too IMO on the Max.

I had a 12PM because it had the better camera. I’m a woman with small hands & was worried I wouldn’t like it, but I adjusted quickly. But when the next pros had the same cameras as the PM I switched back.

It does seem the telephoto camera is the only difference.

They have done it before, apples way of getting people to spend more on the 15 max lol

One of the most enticing reasons I purchased the iPhone X is because the physical size wasn’t much larger than the iPhone 6, which is what I was replacing, yet had a display larger than the 8 Plus.

My rationale now is if I’m forced to go phablet, might as well go all in.
:)

EDIT: Correction. I meant the 8 Plus, not the 6 Plus, as the other comparison since that was series available at the same time as the X.

I am going up in size as well. The zoom convinced me. I love zooms and have 2 ranges of super zooms for my Nikon. 5x in a cell phone? Must be magic! 🪄 Apple voodoo'd me once again. I swore I wasn't going to order a new one this year, but ...

Wait what, what the hell? I just got off work. There’s a difference between pro 15 and pro 15 max?
