Interesting to me, I never even use the 3x zoom so the pro max does nothing for me. I’m always tempted by screen and battery life, but form factor of the standard always gets me and I’ll so that again this year.

The 5x is tempting, but I really don't want a Max. It's just not comfortable for me. I'm getting a 15 Pro for the USB C. I'll probably stick there until there are real camera improvements on the regular pro.

I tried the MAX Pro on the first iteration of the larger size. As a result, I developed a thumb joint that locked up. I traded an older relative who wanted the larger screen for his normal size phone and thumb issues resolved after 6 months. In addition, the larger phone would slip out of workout pants pockets when using machines at the fitness center and occasionally when sitting/getting into the car. It also didn't fit in the front pocket of my purse where it is easily accessible. Regardless of an improved camera, the larger size doesn't work for everyone.

Exactly why i think ill go with the smaller 15 Pro despite the better camera on the 15 Pro Max. i just don't see myelf using that big of a device daily, its just not ideal for single handed use which is a dealbreaker to me

This is my dilemma as well; for work and photography, the 5x zoom would come in super handy; just not sure I can physically hold the PM and operate it one handed, plus its increased size is unlikely to fit in my work clothes.

its an upgrade, but also a compromise.

the 3x optical zoom in the pro sits at 77mm which usually the sweet spot of portraits (around 70-85mm in full frame lens equivalent)

the 5x zoom in the pro MAX, sits at 120mm which is suitable mostly for long distance photo shoots.
portraits .... not so much

so unless that you do 120mm shots most of the time, and if you try to use 3x zoom on your promax.

you will get a 3x digital zoom from the 48mp sensor, which is worse than the 3x optical zoom that the pro has.

The camera as well as the battery life upgrade together make me lean more towards the max.

Before the keynote, I was potentially going to go with the MAX depending on how big the camera benefits were. In reality it boils down to more zoom, which I don't really have a specific need for.

I changed my mind and won't order the 15 Pro Max. I'll keep my 14 Pro for another year because the rumors hint at bigger changes for the 16 series. I used Apple's comparison page to see the differences between the 14 Pro, the 15 Pro, and the 15 Pro Max. https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/?modelList=iphone-14-pro,iphone-15-pro,iphone-15-pro-max
Thanks - that is interesting. So, only difference between 15 Pro and Max is the zoom according to Apple compare link you referenced. Really does not seem that many differences between the camera in the 14 Pro and 15 Pro either, unless I am missing something.

Going from 12 Pro to 15 Pro Max b/c of the better camera system. 5x zoom will make a difference (for me). I am a bit concerned about the size difference. I guess no more front pocket carrying of the phone.

I once went for a bigger version for better screen and cameras, never again. It's so uncomfortable to use one handed, I was getting annoyed trying to do something one handed, I lasted only a year with that phone because I never got used to it.

now u guys know how we mini users feel.
Just that there isn’t anything available for us apart from the ridiculous outdated SE

I’m upgrading my dad’s iPhone 13 and brother’s iPhone 12 to the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max respectively. We’ll use their phones as camera during our upcoming trip while I keep my far more handy iPhone SE3. 😂

I considered getting a DSLR or mirrorless camera but I doubt we’ll actually carry those around. The iPhone is more practical.

I actually don’t mind the classic SE3 design. The LCD is also good for me since I get migraines on OLED. My only major gripe is there’s no night mode for camera. I certainly do hope they don’t make the next SE much larger. I’d be fine up to iPhone X/Xs/11 Pro size but bigger than that would make it a lot harder for me to operate.

The max basically can just zoom more. That’s all right ?

the max camera overall, wont take better photos right?
Yeah I believe so. I meant the increased capability of the telephoto lens along with the increased battery life, both of which I consider to be upgrades for my daily use, are pushing me towards the max.
