I have the same dilemma. I love the idea of a bigger screen and zoom but the Max is I think too unwieldy. So somewhat reluctantly I am sticking with the Pro. Zoom wont help me if I have problems carrying or holding the phone!
It should be available on the regular iPhone Pro model next year. My only concern is that the iPhone Pro might become taller and this is something that I want to avoid. For me personally, the iPhone 12,13,14,15 Pro are tall enough. If I really wanted a bigger iPhone I could have bought the iPhone Pro Max a very long time ago.planning on waiting a year and hoping it goes to the normy pro
It makes a huge difference for me too. It's not that I don't like the Pro Max model. It's just too big for my hands, pockets, comfortable portability.Being able to use the Pro one-handed and reach all 4 corners outweighs the Max's camera differences for me.
I have the same problem as you. I wonder if we are in the minority. The 5x is tempting, but I really don't want a Max. It's just not comfortable for me. I'm getting a 15 Pro for the USB C. I'll probably stick there until there are real camera improvements on the regular pro.
That's the problem with the Pro Max model, it's too big for some of us. Personally, my iPhone 13 Pro fell out of my pocket recently because the pockets aren't big and deep enough. Now when I am buying jeans I take a good look at the size of the pockets thanks to Apple.......I tried the MAX Pro on the first iteration of the larger size. As a result, I developed a thumb joint that locked up. I traded an older relative who wanted the larger screen for his normal size phone and thumb issues resolved after 6 months. In addition, the larger phone would slip out of workout pants pockets when using machines at the fitness center and occasionally when sitting/getting into the car. It also didn't fit in the front pocket of my purse where it is easily accessible. Regardless of an improved camera, the larger size doesn't work for everyone.
I totally agree with you. I fear this bigger, bigger and bigger trend might go on. What are we going to do if the iPhones become too big and we can't use it single handed or put it in the front pocket? I don't see myself buying the non Pro model with the inferior camera system.Exactly why i think ill go with the smaller 15 Pro despite the better camera on the 15 Pro Max. i just don't see myelf using that big of a device daily, its just not ideal for single handed use which is a dealbreaker to me
I totally understand you and I feel sorry for the iPhone mini users. I still like the size of the good old iPhone 4 from 2010. To date it's still my favorite iPhone because of its design and size.now u guys know how we mini users feel.
Just that there isn’t anything available for us apart from the ridiculous outdated SE
Exactly my thought and it has become my biggest dilemma since yesterday's Apple's event. If the rumors for next year's iPhone are true and indeed the iPhone 16 Pro is getting bigger then I don't know what to do. I want to avoid an iPhone taller than the iPhone 13 Pro that I have at the moment.I have the same dilemma. I love the idea of a bigger screen and zoom but the Max is I think too unwieldy. So somewhat reluctantly I am sticking with the Pro. Zoom wont help me if I have problems carrying or holding the phone!
I actually don’t mind the classic SE3 design. The LCD is also good for me since I get migraines on OLED. My only major gripe is there’s no night mode for camera. I certainly do hope they don’t make the next SE much larger. I’d be fine up to iPhone X/Xs/11 Pro size but bigger than that would make it a lot harder for me to operate.
These of you that commented earlier in this thread that the only difference is the Zoom between the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max isn’t quite correct.
Does the Portrait photo mode utilize the telephoto lens in addition to the main lens? In other words, the superior zoom lens on the 15 Pro Max can aid in over better photography regardless of whether you’re using the 5x magnification function it seems.
Yes, we are
No, and no. You can test this yourself by covering up the zoom lens and taking a portrait photo. Works fine/the same without it.
I'm in the exact same situation. I think I'm going to go through with it, looking at the comparison, the 15PM is only 0.2in (5.2mm) wider and 0.51in (13.2mm) taller than the 12P.Going from 12 Pro to 15 Pro Max b/c of the better camera system. 5x zoom will make a difference (for me). I am a bit concerned about the size difference. I guess no more front pocket carrying of the phone.

Doesn't seem so big when I think about it like that.
Can I adopt you?I’m upgrading my dad’s iPhone 13 and brother’s iPhone 12 to the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max respectively.
So you’re saying that the camera in the 15 Pro is actually better than the one in the 15 Pro Max?no, i'll be using the 3x zoom more often than 5x.
the 3x zoom in Promax is a digital crop, hence worse than pro.
you only be getting optical in 1x and 5x, everything in between is digital
As the title says, anyone else in the same boat? I don’t like the size factor of the Max iPhone and always prefer the smaller Pro year after year but the camera difference this time around seems to be significant. Am I just buying the marketing hype of the new camera on 15 Pro Max and should just stick with the smaller size 15 Pro which I much prefer or go with the 15 Pro Max for the first time?
if you're mostly using 3x ... yesSo you’re saying that the camera in the 15 Pro is actually better than the one in the 15 Pro Max?
