When I ordered I told them my dad was a teacher and they never asked one thing about it.

BUT, I ended up cancelling my order because AMAZON was cheaper, even without getting the student discount. YOu can still get a macbook. Amazon has no tax, and will probably end up having a rebate on the computer as well. You'll just have to add some extra RAM yourself, which is a piece of cake.

Canadians have to pay taxes when using Amazon.ca

I bought my new iMac 20" a few days ago from the online store as I am a staff member at a teaching hospital. Absolutely no checks involved. I'd imagine you'd be incredibly unlucky to be choosen for an audit and then forced to pay the 10% difference.

Has there ever been a case of Apple suing a fraudulent edu customer?

not to sound entirely pretentious, but as a filmmaker in college, why does a highschool student need a mbp?

sadly, apple doesn't offer education discounts to highschool students.
looks like im not getting my mac book pro after all. this really makes me sad because i really did want one.

but its $2299 canadian, which is $2700+ with tax.

oh well :( looks like im not switching to the Mac OS platform anymore.

Did you ever think of SAVING for a few more months to get the extra $$?

Some things-especially if you "really did want one" are worth working for.

My teacher is a pimp and he bought me my iBook for like $1000 once vs $1350. If you want, too, you could come to america and pay $1799 + 6.5% sales tax in minnesota ($1917, or $2191 canadian). that would be a savings of like $500. If you want to wire someone in the US the money that you could trust, I'm sure you'd be able to find someone.

kinda harsh, i think, considering he already has, and has excepted that he has to wait.

the bottom line is that it's rediculous that they don't offer educational discount for highschool students. they should extend the discount for grades 9-12 without a doubt. not sure why you're busting his chops as opposed to apple's policy.

$300 in highschool is a chunk of cabbage.

additionally, i know my parents would have NEVER bought me a $3000 anything in high school.
