So you take issue with Samsung marketing their products?

@ OP - this is the saddest post I've ever seen on here. Similarly to when people go on a rant about leaving apple devices, do you think Samsung really cares if you don't buy their fridge or TV?

Its actually your loss. I've never had a Samsung fridge, but they make some of the best TV's that you can get right now.

Marketing? Nope. Thinking it will convert me by shaming the hell out of me as if I'm not hip? Yep. Tell me why your product is better, not why I was so stupid to buy one from your competitor.

Plus don't call me stupid and then create a complete Passbook copy.

Whether or not you agree with the message it was putting across - it's still marketing...

Samsung sells fridges ???
Samsung is a massive multi-national company that builds a very wide range of products. I just bought a new 65" Samsung Smart TV, & a top of the line refrigerator. They're very impressive.

I don't have any emotional involvement with any companies. I buy what suits me best.

Weird that the OP hasn't been back here to weigh in...

I didn't plan to have to check on the thread all night...

Well, this certainly isn't going well for my point of view. :D

Thought I'd have some more support here but it looks like I'm truly a fringe lunatic!!

I don't like they way Samsung shamelessly copies Apples stuff - and then acts like they have innovation in their DNA.

I didn't like their cheesy S4 unveiling. Sexist and creepy.

So, overall I don't like HOW they do business and therefore I don't want to support their company.

I don't care how many components are in my Apple stuff. It's clear that Apple doesn't like them much either and are moving away from them as a supplier where they can. So over time my Apple products will become more Samsung free and Apple and I will be happier.

At this point I just feel that loyalty compels me to take sides.

Don't think it's too much different from the Buy American campaigns. Doesn't mean that everything they buy will absolutely be built in America but they try to direct their purchases that way. Same here, I may not be totally Samsung free but where I can I will try to be.

Last TV purchase we brought home a Samsung. Thought the people looked over processed to the point of looking plastic. Luckily we ended up with an LG. YMMV.

Now looking at a new fridge and I just don't want to see that slimy Samsung logo reminding me daily of that creepy Shin guy.

When I worked for MCI, we did not buy ATT. When I worked for GM, we did not buy Toyota. As an Apple purchaser and shareholder, I'm done with Samsung as a company.

I think you should join along and tell Samsung to shove it. But if you don't wanna, then don't. But that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I'll vote with my wallet, even if its a lone vote.

And even the supertankers to ship all that stuff over here! :)

No, seriously: http://www.shi.samsung.co.kr/eng/

I don't care. My next supertanker is coming from some other company.

We're even going to sell our current Samsung supertanker even though its only a few years old. I'm putting out front tomorrow with a 'for sale by owner' sign. My wife will just have to hold off shipping our fracked oil and natural gas overseas until we get a new supertanker.

What about how apple copied samsung things?

Are you equally upset about that or are you just an apple fanboy that can't see the truth?

I admit I can't see that so well. I think I'm just Jobs-blinded still. Happily so.

I guess I should just take my MR-beating :D like a man, and be done with this.

I still won't buy Samsung but I will be merely a lone voice in the wilderness. I thought this board would be highly Apple partisan. I'm very surprised that it's not. May not bode so well for Apple that there is no rabid, irrational fanaticism. If not here, then where?

I've misjudged the crowd here. As in gladiator times, when you do that, you get sentenced to be eaten by the lions.

Have a 42" Samsung panel that I got for free. Pretty decent set. But I bought a 37" 'Fluid' television recently and other than a dead pixel on the first unit... it's pretty much just as good.

I'm afraid most companies are like this in one way or another. There is no way to buy from someone who has clean hands. Do what you will though with your money. I personally buy from companies who have a good track record of products which don't break on me. What they do in order to get there is of no real concern to me.

I've never owned anything from them except a phone or two. Nothing special stood out at the time, but that was near ten years ago. Apple products, on the other hand, I've owned for a while. Good quality if you ask me. If they made a TV, I'd consider getting it.

While I understand the reasoning behind the posters sentiment, you are just shooting yourself in the foot. All of our electronics that my wife and I own are made by apple, because I'm sold into their eco system. Also, I think they have a quality product.

Then when it is time to look for things like a washer/dryer, TV, fridge, ect... I look at all the reviews out and features of each model in my price range, and make a purchase. I wouldn't exclude a manufacture because they ran a commercial that made fun of my phone choice. I'm looking for a quality product. I think Samsung makes a TV that is of good quality. I will say the same for their high end washers and dryers. I however don't like their phones.

So I'm going to say you do what you want, but I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face.

Good luck with your purchase!

I've gotten so ticked off at Samsung's under handed ways that now we are shopping for a new refrigerator I told my wife I refuse to consider a Samsung.

A year ago it would have been high on the list. Ditto on the new TV. Now, not on the list at all.

The downside of being a conglomerate. Get people cross with you and it can affect multiple product category.

Time to encourage all Apple fan boi's to boycott the other Samsung stuff.

Fight back!!!

Are you just ticked off because Samsung is fighting Apple for top dog ?

That's it OP ? What happen ? Why are you so angry ? Where's the beef in what you don't like and so on ? Very little to go on here. Explain yourself, please. ;)

As far as a Samsung smartphone, I would never buy another. Had one and found it to be far less than optimal for me. Too wide, to plastic, and too thin for me and did not like the OS. My only beef. I have a 46 inch samsung TV, and like it a lot. Will most likely buy another.

Being loyal to companies... How loyal do you think any company is to you?

A company is just a group of people trying to make the most money they can. You should just buy the products that are valuable to you.

You give some crazy reasons, but the one above made me laugh the most.

Its like saying "From today onwards im a vegetarian.......but I really like bacon so will keep eating that"

If your going to boycott Samsung then do it completely and sell your Apple products with Samsung parts inside - otherwise it just screams of attention seeking.

I'll actually say something useful for the original poster instead of bashing him for not wanting to choose a specific brand.

We just bought a new fridge a few months ago. We ended up with an LG, and we're quite happy with it. I don't remember if Samsung was in the comparison running when we were looking. We're happy with the LG, and we got it from Home Depot.

If you want a crowd that will be supportive of your cause, go to macdailynews.com. There you will find others like you who hates samsung. I for one will buy any product as long as they are worth the cost. Did Samsung copy? sure. did Apple copy? sure. Everyone copies to a degree. I'm ok with that.

Good luck with your boycott.
