Every company will produce good and bad products, in your case you got a lemon.

It doesn't mean everything they make is bad.

If you had the same kind of trouble with an Apple product, what would you say? Would you do the same thing and never buy anything from them again, or just consider the reality that you probably just got a defective unit or got unlucky?

In my case, I won't let a negative experience with something stop me from using a particular brand.

Actually the Samsung DLP was a lemon for many people. I think many of those that owned one on those tv's will never go back to Samsung. Samsung still cant produce a quality plasma tv that even comes close to the Pioneer Kuro of 3 to 4 years ago, which even today is still considered the best tv ever made.

Nothing to do with Apple vs Samsung, but I'll never buy another one of their crappy HDTVs again. Barely lasts over a year before I had to pay $200 to get it repaired due to cheap parts used by Samsung.

I can't wait for Apple to make a fridge that won't allow me to store products that Apple think is harmful for me. And then takes 30% of everything I put in it.

In my house I own:

Apple - hardware and software
MS - software
Sony - gaming hardware (only) and software
Nintendo - hardware and software
Toshiba hardware

Not liking a certain product line is one thing, but if you weren't so obtuse you may realize that most large scale electronics manufacturers produce multiple lines, many of which don't interact with each other. If I'm pissed at SEA I'm not going to stop buying Vaios, I'm going to stop buying playstations. I'm pretty sure that the arm of Samsung that produces refrigerators has little to nothing to do with their phone line. Also, who the hell gets offended by a commercial?

I will be buying a Samsung TV AND fridge soon.

I think Apple is just as bad about lawsuits, marketing, etc as Samsung is. Patent any little stupid thing and then troll for someone to sue. Typical for this day and age. they all do it. Not pointing fingers at any one in particular.

At this point, I just look at it as the way business is done. But it will not make me take sides for or against a specific company.

Now if they treat me wrong personally, that is another story. I still hold a grudge against a guy from 6th grade. I ever see him again, I will give him the payback he deserves.

Act in your own self interest and buy whatever you think is suitable for you. Die hard brand loyalty is childish. Corporations exist to maximize profits for their shareholders (and as well they very well should be). In the same sense corporations aim to make rational decisions designed to maximize utility, you as an entity ought to be doing the same.

I had an ugly legal battle with Audi corporate devision a few years ago. I would still consider a new Audi again in the future because I tend to think like a rational adult.

I'll make sure I buy another Samsung monitor to use with my MacBook in a month or two to make up for the Samsung item you won't be buying.

I think Samsung makes some amazing things. Who cares who sues who.

I don't care. My next supertanker is coming from some other company.

We're even going to sell our current Samsung supertanker even though its only a few years old. I'm putting out front tomorrow with a 'for sale by owner' sign. My wife will just have to hold off shipping our fracked oil and natural gas overseas until we get a new supertanker.

I'd be selling all of your iOS and Mac devices too since the screens are manufactured and sold to Apple by Samsung.

The very best of luck towards your Samsung-free life OP. Its harder than it looks tbh, since most electronics use Samsung's parts somewhere down the line.

Yeah it's quite hypocritical to keep using Apple products that all use Samsung components.

It is funny that in two posts in this thread people have bashed Samsung as "korean junk" and then said that they bought and are happy with a product from LG instead... they are two of the three largest chaebols... with Hyundai being the third.

Samsung US sent out a repair person, for free, to fix my six year old (out of warranty) flat screen television when its capacitors died. The have done alright by me.

I bought a Samsung TV and I love it. It's my first LED TV and it's fantastic. I think Samsung make some of the best displays and artificially limiting yourself from ask of a companies products as a foolish act of brand loyalty gains you nothing.

Is Apple going to send you an iTunes card because you didn't buy a Samsung fridge? No? So what do you gain?

I didn't plan to have to check on the thread all night...

Well, this certainly isn't going well for my point of view. :D

Thought I'd have some more support here but it looks like I'm truly a fringe lunatic!!

I don't like they way Samsung shamelessly copies Apples stuff - and then acts like they have innovation in their DNA.

I didn't like their cheesy S4 unveiling. Sexist and creepy.

So, overall I don't like HOW they do business and therefore I don't want to support their company.

I don't care how many components are in my Apple stuff. It's clear that Apple doesn't like them much either and are moving away from them as a supplier where they can. So over time my Apple products will become more Samsung free and Apple and I will be happier.

At this point I just feel that loyalty compels me to take sides.

Don't think it's too much different from the Buy American campaigns. Doesn't mean that everything they buy will absolutely be built in America but they try to direct their purchases that way. Same here, I may not be totally Samsung free but where I can I will try to be.

Last TV purchase we brought home a Samsung. Thought the people looked over processed to the point of looking plastic. Luckily we ended up with an LG. YMMV.

Now looking at a new fridge and I just don't want to see that slimy Samsung logo reminding me daily of that creepy Shin guy.

When I worked for MCI, we did not buy ATT. When I worked for GM, we did not buy Toyota. As an Apple purchaser and shareholder, I'm done with Samsung as a company.

I think you should join along and tell Samsung to shove it. But if you don't wanna, then don't. But that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I'll vote with my wallet, even if its a lone vote.

And look at how well that worked out for MCI.

If you're looking to buy American for appliances, General Electric makes a lot of stuff in the states, and Vizio TVs I've heard are actually a great value.

I've gotten so ticked off at Samsung's under handed ways that now we are shopping for a new refrigerator I told my wife I refuse to consider a Samsung.

A year ago it would have been high on the list. Ditto on the new TV. Now, not on the list at all.

The downside of being a conglomerate. Get people cross with you and it can affect multiple product category.

Time to encourage all Apple fan boi's to boycott the other Samsung stuff.

Fight back!!!

I'd at least vote with my feet other something worthwhile..... not 'Underhanded tactics' something which apple are no less guilty off.

Now when you dont buy samsung because of samsung techwin, I'd give you some "Respecah!"

I love Samsung products and will continue to purchase them. We have 4 Samsung TV's in our household, the newest one purchased in 2007. None have given us any problems. Can't say that about my experience with Apple..

Funny you should say that as I refuse to buy any of the products too.

Horrid company. I'm sure there products are fine but in my eyes they have seriously damaged their brand with all this Apple stuff they rip off.

I don't understand people spouting this bollocks. Having a Samsung chip/screen whatever in your phone is not the same as going into a shop and buying a Samsung branded product.

Being loyal to companies... How loyal do you think any company is to you?

A company is just a group of people trying to make the most money they can. You should just buy the products that are valuable to you.

jeez.

I like to buy Apple Products. They don't give a **** about me personally but I know they reward loyalty to customers by continuingly improving their products and services and supporting customers to the best of their ability.

what the **** has happened to this forum.

Now that's just sad.

Not really. It's his money to spend and he can choose how to spend it. This also applies to people who have complaints with Apple (or any other company) and will not buy their products.

The last TV I bought (bought it in 2012) was not a Samsung. I thought I was going to get a Samsung till I compared between the different TVs at the store. I found that the other brands (in my opinion) had a better picture and that Samsung was more expensive. Brand loyalty is nice but it will not always get you the best product for your needs. Samsung used to make the best TVs but, I believe that everyone else has caught up and in many cases, passed them.

It's not bollocks at all. The OP wanted to boycott Samsung. If he continues to buy Apple products, he isn't boycotting them. I never said having a product from Apple was the same as having one from Samsung.

Boycotting Samsung in the consumers eyes is not buying their products from shops.

Stop being pedantic

Nope.

A boycott is an act of voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with a person, organization, or country as an expression of protest, usually for social or political reasons.

A boycott is a boycott. You can't change the definitions of words. If the OP buys an iPhone, he is not boycotting Samsung, regardless of what you see from the eyes of a consumer. I'm not being pedantic. I'm being correct. What I am saying is a fact.
