So how does it work if I buy the phone off contract and don't activate it at time of sale? Off-Contract sales aren't exempted..
And no offense, I rarely see BB using the commonsense approach which is why I question this and it flies in the face of what I was told by BB> They WANT you locked into that gift card for the "next" sale...
Which the whole "pre-order" was frankly BS. Buy a GC that they hand right back to me for the deposit? All that does is guarantees I spend $50 on something at BB.

Last I knew TMobile was the only one selling theirs on the market and you're correct, it's at the $749 price.
and if you signed up for the $50 gift cert from best buy back in Feb, there is another $50 gift cert upon activation!
Pre-ordered my Note 4 from Best Buy yesterday. You pay $50 to lock it in, and they immediately give you a $50 gift card. So between that and the $200 trade-in seemed like the way to go for me. I could not do it online: had to physically go into a Best Buy to do it. They said it was because of $50 gift card thing.
I wonder if I can use my original iPhone 2G for the Best Buy trade-in. It still works and I don't see the minimum $10 thing for them.

What is the $50 upon activation deal? Could that be the one you get when you put the $50 down for the pre-order?
Michael
Bestbuy.com's wording on the note 4 page is "any working smartphone" will work for the trade in but its starting to sound like YMMV depending on the store. I bought a $40 virgin mobile prepaid smartphone to use for the trade...crossing my fingers on Friday.
the other $50 gift card (not the one you got for pre-ordering) was from a deal that Bestbuy sent out back in Feb of this year. You register your phone line(s) with them, and when you active a new phone on the registered line(s) before 12/31, you get a $50 gift card. I specifically asked the rep when I pre-ordered mine whether this additional $50 will apply and was told yes.
I just went to my best buy, and they are sold out of pre-orders. The Samsung promo only applies to pre-orders. I'm on AT&T. What can I do?

I re-read the Samsung promo again. It has to be worth $10. I have an Evo 4G I was going to use, and it's worth $20 at Best Buy, and $0 at AT&T. Best Buy closed pre-orders. Frustrating.
You get the value of the trade-in from your carrier.Where are you getting the amount that the phone is worth? I pre-ordered and was told that I can turn in my Droid Incredible as long as it was working and they would credit me $200. I was a bit skeptical, and will consider canceling if they do not give me $200 since I am paying full price for the Note4...

I think with Best Buy the offer is only if you get phone on contract, or AT&T next (or similar, if Sprint/Verizon have similar).
So if you are referring to Samsung's offer, you have to get at least $10 from your carrier and Samsung will, at a later date, send you a check for the difference between what your carrier gave you and $200.

I asked multiple BB employees and Samsung store reps and they all told me I could buy off contract and apply $200 credit toward the purchase of the Note4 by turning in my old phone. I'm going to be pissed if they change their story when I go to pick it up...
Do you have it pre-ordered?
If not it could be they will still give you the $200 trade-in, don't see why not, but that you just don't get the $50 gift card that you get when you put down the deposit for the pre-order.
That said, I couldn't really get anyone at BB to admit they would have stock come Friday if it was not pre-ordered. I would assume they are getting some that are above and beyond pre-orders but if I was relying on that I would get there early. (Perhaps I am conditioned from iPhone releases and the Note 4 won't be such a big deal.)
Michael
Oh then you should be fine.Yup, preordered within the first couple days of this promo coming out.
Samsung is stepping up an incentive further adding more time to the $200 trade in offer. I got this from both BB and Samsung reps. I think it is for an additional two weeks starting from the 17th so one should get it regardless that the Note 4 was not preordered.
I hope you're right

What samsung reps did you hear this from? Does it only apply to Best Buy?
T-Mobile won't let me pre-order since I'm on a special plan but it would be great if they really extended it for non-pre-orders, but I am skeptical.
Strictly the Samsung reps from BB is where I got the info.
If it is indeed on Samsung's website (it should be) then it should be honored. The period has been extended for two weeks I was told, folks buying the Note 4 after the 17th would not need to preorder, it is already a released device (except perhaps the Verizon variants). I guess availability within the timeframe comes into play however depending what overall stock is for the color, storage, carrier one wants.
Special plan with T-mobile? Well I would not know how that works. My purchase is going to be with the AT&T variant off contract, others may go that route with another provider or buy it with Next, Jump, etc.
