Yeah, that's the only reason why I can't preorder and take advantage of the pre-order offer, I would need to wait for general release.

There's nothing on the website that says it has been extended so I guess I'll have to wait an see.

Same here

So tomorrow (10/16) is the late day to order the Note 4 to be considered "pre-order" I believe. What with the Nexus 6 price being way more than I expected, I'm strongly considering getting a Note 4 if I can get the $200 rebate.

I'm with T-Mobile, has anything tried to get the max $190 Samsung rebate ($200 - $10 minimum trade in value) with a phone slightly below $10? I have an older Nokia Lumia 710 and its trade in value is $6 on T-Mobile's online checker tool. So frustrating that I'm $4 off!

Any good tips on the best phone to trade in, in terms of retail cost to me (cheap as possible) yet hitting that $10 trade-in value? Thanks.

It did not take more than a minute for each of the Samsung reps I know at BB yesterday to check promotions for the Note 4. They both told me it was extended to get the $200 trade in.

They said they will be there when I purchase the Note 4 from the mobile department early tomorrow to make sure I get it on an off contract sale.

I am getting there early to ensure availabilty for the one I want even though I preordered. If I do not get that specific one from that store, no one will.

Please report back here if you are able to end up getting this off contract. I was told at one best buy that you could, but then by the Samsung reps at another Best Buy that no, in order to get the 200$ for the trade in, you had to purchase on a contract.

I have got my preorder to pick up, but already got a iPhone 6+ on Next that I have been trying out, so buying the Note 4 on contract is not an option if I did go that route.

I think when one preordered at the store they should have told folks about the $200 trade in policy. They never said anything about whether or not one can use it on an off contract device at that time, it pretty much was just trade in a working eligible smartphone to get the promotion.

Both Samsung reps today are going to push for me to be able to get it today off contract last I talked to them the other day.

Someone else said they're extending it for the next 2 weeks starting on the 17th but I haven't heard anything about it applying to other carrier stores, just best buy

but it's best buy, wish samsung would do the same

Hum interesting. Of note is the line that "customer must be eligible for a new 2 year agreement." Makes me think they won't let you do this if buying the phone outright. That is what concerned me with my preorder as well. One guy said I could buy it outright, but the Samsung guy and phone sales guy at another best buy told me no, you only get the 200$ if buying on contract of some sort.

I'd like to have fun with that personally if they try to enforce it.

Any of us that are off-contract are technically "Eligible" although it's our option if we want to use it.

Now, that said, BB's promotion looks to have moved the markers also:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/mobile-...-4/pcmcat341700050007.c?id=pcmcat341700050007

"Get a guaranteed $200 Best Buy gift card when you trade in any working smartphone and purchase the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or Samsung Galaxy S 5."

No mention of pre-order and now includes the S5

The problem I had at BB was not actually getting the $200 trade in. There was a lock in their system regarding activation on the device. It took awhile but they managed to override it.

The BB I preordered from, in Henderson, NV, doesn't have it. Claiming they didn't get many AT&T versions in. They say more could be coming later today. Lovely.

The BB Mobile right behind it, in the Galleria Mall, only had enough for the preorders. Only the preorders, they said. Methinks they didn't get enough for all the preorders either.

Meanwhile my local AT&T store has them in stock. Ugh.

How to get a Note 4 at T-Mobile retail store without any plan (no contract, full price), and if that's not possible, what's the cheapest no-contract plan they would sell N4 with? What's the strategy about getting an unlocked, plan-free device from TMO (I want to use my prepaid ATT SIM with it, but still want the TMO hardware)?

since there are no longer preorders, you can just buy it without a plan but you'll probably have to wait a while since what little stock will be reserved for new activations and current customer upgrades before non-customers can buy them. You need to be on a t-mobile plan for 40 days before t-mobile will unlock it unless you want to pay one of those unlocker sites.

Just to update...

I got my Note 4 from Best Buy on Saturday. I had to swap my preorder from black to white but what the heck. I can change it out within 14 days if I really don't like white.

Oh yea, Best Buy took my original iPhone 2G in on trade for that $200 gift card. Amazing. A phone that was over seven years old. Several times the associate had to go speak to a manager and each time I thought "Okay, here it comes... 'no way can we take that phone.'" But, nope, they took it.

So I got to keep my Note 2. :)
