I can't stress how important after sales support is to apples success. Doesn't matter where you bought it from, either Apple directly or carriers, their direct service trumps others.

The Samsung issue could be a big deal. All the note 7s bought from various carriers, through carrier stores, retail stores like target, warehouse clubs etc it logistically could be a nightmare. What if you bought it secondhand through eBay, Craigslist, swappa? Sounds like a potential headache.

The carriers will still take care of it, even if you got it through 2nd hand like swappa or CL. I've had plenty of phones looked at and even replaced which I bought 2nd hand and no one even asked me where I purchased it. Heck I've even had them cross replace, I brought in a broken Tmobile Note 5 to AT&T and they replaced it with no questions asked. I think all they really care about is that you are a paying customer. I doubt the carrier pays anything at all for the warranty exchange, it just goes back to Samsung.

I still don't see what the advantage to Apple's customer support is. With one exception though, Apple's screen replacement cost is a lot less than Samsungs so I could conceivably forego Apple care on the risk that I may break my screen once during ownership. But besides that there really is no difference while you are under warranty.

Im actually surprised to see on Verizons site that they are still listing the Note 7 and really figured they would have something on the site for those of us who are existing Note 7 customers on the upcoming recall.

You've obviously never walked into an Apple Store and had a phone replaced without the fight Samsung often give you. From experience of both I have to say Apple lead the way be a country mile.

You've obviously never walked into a carrier store and had a phone replaced. I have had phones replaced at Apple and at my carrier, didn't see any difference other than I got to avoid the crowded Apple store. I even had Apple turn away one of my warranty exchanges, saying my phone had gotten wet. A call to corporate fixed that mistake of theirs, but it was a pain to sort out, and not too long after that Apple got sued and lost because they were turning people away for water damage.

Sadly carriers here wouldn't replace, they would simply send the device off to the third party repair centre on your behalf and you would unlikely be granted use of a temp handset either.

Apple here in Ireland are the only company who will do 'advanced' warranty replacement where they send you a replacement and you send your device back - however they charge €35 (they will also put a hold on your CC for the cost of the device in case you don't return it) for this unless you have Apple Care Plus.

Any of you returned the Note7?

I believe that replacement devices will be available in the next couple of weeks. Debating whether to hold onto the device until then. AT&T already contacted me via text, but I have to deal with Best Buy.

Just wondering what Note7 users are planning to do?

You're right I have not walked into a carrier store and had a replacement because they generally don't do that in the uk. The make you send the phone off for repair and that can happen 3 or 4 times before they consider replacing the device. Samsung customer service in the UK is shocking in my experience whereas Apple has always gone out of their way to make it a great experience.

I've had several replaced at ATT that I got from swappa, unfortunately I went through a period where I got one bad Note 4 after another (I think I warranty exchanged 7 of them!!). They even replaced a Tmobile Note 5 with no questions asked. If it's still in warranty period you just go to a corp store and they can overnight you one, or you can go to one of their warranty exchange centers which are inside certain ATT stores and they will replace it right there on the spot. I've gone through managers as well as the exchange centers and ATT customer service and not a single time was I asked where I bought it from. I don't think they can even tell where you got it if you tell them you got it from an ATT store.

Ahh ok, I'm not sure how things in the UK work. In that case then yeah, I can see why Apple is an advantage for you. I don't wish Samsung customer service on anyone.

Rogers has offered me some Sony Xperia phone as a loaner but I think I'll just hold onto my note 7 until the replacement shows up

Love this phone. Not going to hold it against Samsung and boycott them over this. They are handling it well and makijg it right

They new exactly where it came from.
I called all over today Samsung and att corporate store they said it has to go back to the store in Florida where it came from.
A 3rd party store
I didn't try just going in the store yet I just called my local att corporate store and the regular att customer service

No that it came from a 3 party store in Florida
That's where the swappa seller must of gotten it.

Interesting. I can't say I can tell what the employees see when they look up the IMEI. It sounds like you either got unlucky, or I was extremely likely as I've done probably close to a dozen warranty exchanges over the past 4 or 5 years (almost all of them Samsung ) and have never been questioned once. I don't think I've every purchased a phone straight from AT&T. If you lived near NJ I could tell you where I went for my last 3 or 4 exchanges.

Yeah, I've never been questioned before either by AT&T about where I got the phone, whether it's from Best Buy or Walmart they've always just swapped it either in store or by overnight mail, except of course the iPhone, they always tell me I have to go to Apple which used to be great but now they're always booked and the store is over crowded that I have to make an appointment days in advance and schedule my day around it to make sure I don't miss my appointment.

I'm in the same boat and I decided just to wait for best buy to have replacements in stock. You can sign up on their website to be notified when they come in

I'm holding on to mine, and using it. However, I have disabled fast charge ( wired & wireless ), and not leaving it plugged in at night. I charge it prior to sleep, and then put it on 'mid' power saving mode. In the past two nights that I have done so, it was down to 98% at 8 am ( unplugged at around 11 pm )

I also use BT for calls, so the device is at least not attached to my face.

I will send my back to samsung and stay with my s7 edge. At the end my s7 edge has less lag and battery life is also better. My s7 edge has no scratches on the display after half a year, my note 7 has scratches after one day.

The Note 7 is only for hardcore s-pen users and not for me, i had give it a chance, but it's failed.
Waiting for S8 Edge now.

You guys are very lucky. Carriers in the US Seem so much better than in the UK

They would never do any of that here.

You know how you can tell someone is happy with their Note 7? They're being patient with the process and happily accept a replacement Note 7 given the QC issues Samsung has. It's not the first time this year with a flagship caliber device. Anyone remember the "shatter resistant" GS7 Active screen? They had QC issues and owned up to it. Sadly, all it will mean is more ammo for people to brag about how Apple, LG, or whomever is better.
