I have the Note 7 and have had every single note since the beginning and also every iPhone as well

The note 7 is a good looking device. with that said it is SLOW AS DIRT. To me a brand new phone should not be significantly slower then my one year old iPhone 6s plus. The S7 Edge I had did not feel so slow.

All features and functions aside, the phone hick ups everywhere... to me that is unacceptable. With that said I will be hanging onto it in case Samsung decided to fix this issue. But we all know for a FACT, that the iPhone 7 is going to be exponentially faster then the iPhone 6, so that means the Note 7 will be in big trouble..features are worthless if the phone is slow

Well, that sucks. I suggest you try exchanging it for another. I have two Note 7s and they're both super fast ( also have the iP6S+ )

One is using Nova Prime and the other on TW, and no major issues. If either of them were as slow as you're saying, I'd be on my way for a swap!

Been using Notes since Note 2 and iPhone since 2G, and been happy with both...well except a few issues with Note 3 (GPS related), iP3GS (doa battery), and iP5 (screen issue)

The phone is not slow. It's plenty fast it's just not as fast as the 6S. Most people don't do speed tests with their phones side by side so the note 7 will be just fine when the iPhone 7 comes out.

I'm in a dilemma at the moment. I have a S7 edge and iPhone 6S plus. I have the note 7 on pre-order. The S7 edge is a great phone. It has an amazing screen, the camera is amazing, I love being able to use two apps at the same time. I love being able to customise my phone. The note 7 is even better

The problem I have is that I'm too entrenched in the Apple ecosystem. I have my iPhone, my iPad, my Apple Watch, my apple TVs and my mac. If I keep my note 7 I'll have to sell my iPhone because I can't use them both. I'm struggling to use both my S7 edge and iPhone 6S plus. I don't know if I can give up my iPhone.

It's not slow, but Android phones have a way of getting laggy after a while. The new Samsungs are no different.

But anyway, I face the same dilemma as you. I want to switch to the Note 7 just for the screen alone, but it means I'd say goodbye to my Apple Watch which I've come to enjoy using quite a bit. The integration with my Mac is also pretty good (although I could find workarounds easily). It's just more trouble than it's worth.

I think it's amusing that a newly released phone from Samsung gets slammed by some for having glitches. Is there amnesia about new iPhones and IOS releases having "glitches" that filled forums here? Most were fixed with updates, some not so much.

Glitches aren't the same thing as laggy software. One can be patched, the other is working as intended.

I gotta say that my Note 7 is great. Initially, it had some lag. Now, after getting things set up and restarting, it runs very well. If it didn't, I would exchange it. At present, I'm on day 7...

hey guys, I've bought every iPhone since launch but the iPhone 7 looks to be another iPhone 6. For those that made the jump to the S7, S7 Edge or Note 7, what are your thoughts? Any regrets or plans to switch back?

Keep both. I have an iPhone and apple watch that are back in their boxes until I get the iOS itch again. I got a nexus 6P after a software glitch with 2 Note 7s and couldn't be happier. I wish there was an Android wear watch I liked as much much as my apple watch. I hope a few are announced at IFA.

i am also a long time iOS user, and the note 7 really drew me in. Long story very short, I had the note 7 for a few days and it was a stuttering laggy mess ( even my old iPhone 5 was smoother). And I'm talking simple stuff, starting the keyboard, browsing apps...

Returned it and got a 6s plus, very happy.

Just one mans experience though, your mileage may vary depending on perspective.

clearly I wasn't seeing things.
Some people seem to be having consistently bad lag and overheating and others seem to be having no problems there. I wonder if there have been quality control issues to account for this variance.

I don't have the scroll lag on any apps yet other than Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go is slow on the Note 7. If anyone is really big into Pokemon Go, the Note 7 is not the device for you.

I've not yet had any overheating. Cross fingers. My husband likes his just fine except for a lot of his financial apps not being written to unlock with the fingerprint sensor.

To the OP:
I said this elsewhere on the forum and it bears repeating: I don't advise anyone to get any Samsung or other Android device just because they're mad at Apple or bored with Apple. Go for it because you researched what the device offers, what makes it unique and decide it offers something you can't get with your current OS and/or hardware or the next device in the upgrade queue.

It is no secret I have been dissatisfied with a lot of Apple's decisions lately and some of their rumored decisions and that did fuel my feeling that I should try to break out of the Apple ecosystem and become more fluent in cross platform solutions--but that is actually something I could have done on an IPhone. I can set up Google and Microsoft services on an iPhone. This is a great first step toward weaning off of complete dependence on Apple's ICloud services. Try to switch over from as many Apple exclusive services and go as cross platform as you can before you invest in any hardware.

But my dissatisfaction alone was no reason to suddenly jump to such an expensive device. I did have a niche use case for a phablet sized device to fill. I have long wanted the ability to write with a stylus on a phablet. It just so happened that the new Note for the first time offered the water resistance I was also wanting, since I own a pool. And I'm in a situation where I can still keep using my SE, thus mitigating my risk if my foray into Android was a failure. So now was as good of a time as any to give the Note 7 a try. I guess you could say the stars aligned on this for me. There were also some great deals from Samsung and my carrier to help make it all make sense financially.

But I also knew this investment couldn't be a knee jerk reaction to Apple. The people on this forum took great care to prepare me to know that and warn me what I would be in for in trying an all new OS. So I've been prepared and so far the experiment is going very well. I'm very happy with the Note 7 while at the same time being open to acknowledging and accepting its shortcomings.

Being ticked off or bored is not a good mindset in which to make any decisions this expensive. We all need patience to work through certain challenges and anger kills patience and being in a bored mindset causes the ability to pay attention and stick with things to evaporate. Also...if there is faulty hardware in circulation, it takes a bit of patience to determine that and get the best remedy besides a product return and going back to Apple.

The thing to keep in mind is that the Samsung flagships are themselves refinements to designs that are a couple of generations old. It just all seems new and exciting to Apple owners who up until now haven't paid close attention to Samsung. Samsung fans are doing their fair share of complaining at how the Samsungs are all starting to look the same.

Take a look at the apps you use all the time and love the best and see if they are offered in an Android version or if they have a counterpart on the Google Play store. Read the comments on each. Some comments will tell you that the app is poorly implemented in Android. In some cases it will be better.

I am sorry this is so TL:DR and I also hope it helps without offending people who did try and returned their Samsungs fast because they know themselves well and know the Samsung was just not a good fit for them. Not everyone who went to Samsung fast and left just as fast did so as a knee jerk reaction. But I saw enough folks on other forums who did that, so I wanted to discuss this.

I wonder if Samsung's Game Tuner app will enhance your Pokemon Go experience on the Note 7. I set everything to the max (100% Resolution Ratio, 60 fps Frame rate limit, and 100% Texture quality) and Pokemon Go is smooth on my S7 Edge.

I got my 6s Plus in December and it was still full of glitches. Almost every time I unlocked the phone it lagged. The clock at the top would appear 1-2 seconds after I unlocked and the screen was COMPLETELY unresponsive until the clock reappeared. It was finally fixed in like June.

I want to switch to Android, but Apple's Touch ID is freaking fantastic, especially when used for logging into sites with a password app.

Well damn, if my mom wrote posts this good I'd be hella proud :D Can't click the thumbs up icon hard enough.

And yeah, the quality control issues you mention in the first paragraph... Honestly I think it has mostly to do with attitude. People seem to see what they want to see, especially when it comes to lag. One person's definition of lag is normal loading time to another, and many seem to notice only the smooth parts of their UI while completely ignoring massive stutters in other parts...

I've heard there isn't much Google apps support when the gear s2 is used with Android.

Are you able to use Google maps, respond to texts sent with hangouts, and view email from the Gmail app? Do you get Google Now cards?

Note 7 fingerprint sensor isn't bad at all it's actually pretty good but not as good as the one on the 6s+. I'm finding that more Android apps than I thought support the fingerprint sensor tho although not as much as iPhone apps

Ya. I've switched to Android twice, but always went back to iPhone simply because devs seems to be on top of new apps and technology of the iPhone. Android apps always seem to be a step behind. Plus the fact that all the newer, fresh apps are iPhone first.

I used to be all in Apple for everything (Mac, rMBP, Apple TV's, iPads), but the iPhone is the only thing I have left.

My current smartphones:

Android:
LG V10
Nexus 6P
Nexus 5X
Samsung S7
Huawei Mate 8
Samsung Note 7
Samsung S7 Edge

Apple:
iPhone 6S
iPhone 6S Plus

My Primary Smartphone: Nexus 6P
My secondary: iPhone 6S Plus

A very long time Apple enthusiast, I continue using an iPhone just to stay current.

That said, Android has so much more to offer, such speed accuracy and reliability that if I was limited to just one phone it's my Nexus 6P that I'd choose without hesitation.

I use the full compliment of Google Apps and Services.

It's a terrific solution that automatically syncs and backs up everything, across my Android, iOS, OSX, Windows smartphones and computers.

Google Chrome, Google Now, Contacts, Calendar, Gmail, Photos, Maps, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Google Keep, Drawings and Google Voice work brilliantly on each of my devices.

Using all four platforms concurrently is very enjoyable as it provides variety, and keeps me current with the latest technology.

I have always had iPhones since the 2G, most recent phone was a 6 plus since launch. Still works great. I tried a Galaxy S3 a few years ago and returned it after a day, couldn't take it.

Picked up a Note 7 to try on Saturday and have been loving it. Lots to offer that the iPhone doesn't.
- always on display
- wireless charging
- screen is amazing
- size feels so much better than 6/6s plus
- expandable storage
- water resistance

But just this afternoon I find the honeymoon phase wearing off. The N7 hardware is awesome, but the software still isn't up to spec. Battery drains fast even after fine tuning lots of stuff, some random stutters all over, phone seems to get hot frequently, Gmail randomly stopped pushing, couldn't get an MMS message to send, a few apps take forever to load and hangup, etc... this stuff just doesn't happen on iPhones.

Best analogy I can make is Windows vs OSX. It took me two days to setup the N7 to work well, find all the right settings, turn off battery draining crap, disable bloat - whereas with iOS, you just turn the phone on and it works beautifully!

I will probably return mine later this week. I'll miss a few things, but in the long run I know I'll be happier with an iPhone 7.

Sounds like you've installed a bad app. I haven't experienced any of what you described. Mine has been rock solid. The battery has been solid, the speed has been solid (no hiccups), and I've not had any crashes. It sounds like you've got an out of control app.
