PHX, AZ.
I traded my Note 7 for a 6S+. The iPhone 7 doesn't impress me, so I passed on it.
I never like the S7 Edge (had it as a loaner... hated it).
The Pixel is lacking so many features (no SD card, no wireless charging, no IP67/68, etc.) that I don't even consider it an option.
The V20 doesn't do it for me either.
So I'll play around with the iPhone until the S8 comes out.
I still have my old S4 to appease my Android needs. That thing keeps on ticking.

You're pro Apple bias is preventing you from seeing the truth.

Apparently you are very eager to bash Android to justify your iPhone choice. To randomly say "Android battery management is really horrible" shows just how little you know. Anyone who looks it up on a credible site like GSMarena where fair comparisons are posted will see that many phones get great battery life.

We understand you like to brag, but it's unnecessary to exaggerate and tell stories.

First of all that couldn't be farther from the truth I'm the last person to be pro any billion dollar corporation. Apple doesn't pay me anything and I find it silly when people defend these companies as if they did.

That being said I loved the Note 7 and was willing to deal with the battery life issue at least until the next iPhone or maybe longer. I downloaded the app to remove all that bloat ware, I followed steps to stop the apps that run in the background etc....

The point is that in my personal experience and many that I read online the note's battery was way short of the iPhone plus battery and it doesn't take a genius to know it's due to the way the OS' integrate with the hardware.

Thanks for insulting me and making insinuations about me just for expressing my opinion, perfect example of what people have to deal with on these forums.

I switched to slow charging my Note 7 and was getting insane day and a half battery life out of it despite playing games on it. My last couple of days...which ironically is when I was starting to have overheating problems, I used it to make phone calls and videos and compile recipes from online sources. Oh jeez I'm going to miss using scroll capture on that phone. Now I don't want to turn it in. :( There really isn't a phone out there that compares. The S pen was amazing.

But I digress. I was going to just get an iPhone 7 since I was going to do that anyway to upgrade the live my 6S Plus is on. And I think I will get the iPhone 7 for that upgrade. But I want a Pixel phone, too. Or to at least consider one. However when I turn on my N7 I'm just taking a refund and not directly replacing the phone yet. I need time to decide what my next Android should be, for sure.
Totally agree I loved the Note 7, it was the perfect bridge phone for me between the 6S and next years iPhone. It's a shame about all this battery stuff I feel like this was the phone that was really going to propel Samsung and put pressure on apple to innovate quicker. We the consumer lose here because now apple can take their foot off the gas a bit and continue with the incremental updates.

It really is a tragedy for the smartphone industry that people can't own a note 7 -- it was easily the best piece of smartphone tech at the time.

A report says Apple is ordering 8 million more iPhones into production in light of Samsung's debacle, so plenty of those to go around. I don't blame anyone for going back to Apple after this mess.

Pixel XL and the LG v20 (both Nougat devices) are options too. Honestly, every OEM should be vying for a piece of the pie at this point in time. It's their best chance at cutting into Samsung's lead in the Android space.

Well I am back from turning my Note7 in. I have a brand new silver S7 Edge. So does my husband. One of them is free because we were able to get our original BOGO deal reinstated. We had a great sales lady who got everything straightened out and working despite the fact there is not yet a formal official recall program in effect and nothing official between Samsung and AT&T. So, much thanks and appreciation to AT&T for taking it upon themselves and especially our local corporate store for just plowing ahead and doing what it took to have us leave happy despite being very sad about saying goodbye to our Notes.

I opted not to get the iPhone 7 I was offered yesterday because my husband wanted to stay with Samsung and get the Edge back. He has left iOS for the time being since Samsung or Android serves him better at work somehow. Anyway since he wanted to stay with Samsung I went ahead and stayed with them, too since one of the phones was going to be pretty close to free.

I have a Google Pixel on order and I decided to keep the order active. When it comes I will take the sim from my SE and put it in the Pixel. I'll try it out on daily driver duty. See how it goes. If I like it I can switch the sim between it and my SE as I sometimes do with my 6SPlus.

I have for the time being abandoned plans to upgrade my 6SPlus to an iPhone 7. I think that ship sailed when I threw the Pixel into my online shopping cart. If the Pixel stinks, well, I will reconsider my decision. Likely I will just send it back and stick to just the SE.

A few days ago Samsung released the recall. There is an official recall, but it seems some stores are not checking their mail. I already own a S7 Edge for my work phone since the day of release, so I didn't want both. I do however have my 7 plus on order, and I plan to order the Pixel XL as well and plan to keep both.

Glad they were able to help you either way!

Thank you!

Oh wow my local store was processing returns all day but they acted like they weren't doing anything officially. They initially tried to tell us the original BOGO deal under which we got two Samsung phones was dead and that if we turned our Note7s in, we would have to pay full price for each replacement. (We knew that was a possibility but it seemed really unfair to us as customers so we took a chance and pressed the issue, politely.) We put on our  and o_O faces. And the lady agreed but had to get authorization.

We need a club for those of us with three or more phones in rotation!

I feel really weird taking Iphone7 off my planned phone upgrade list. I haven't skipped an iPhone release since I held onto my iPhone 4 past the 4s and IPhone 5 release. But I just got my SE a few months ago and it's been so great.

I don't really have any justification for getting a Pixel. Other than the Note 7 was originally my 50th birthday present. Because of extended family drama in hubby's family, I ended up not really celebrating it as originally planned. Then I actually had to wait a month for the Note 7 so it ended up not really marking my birthday, anyway. Then my husband had to get all involved and get himself a Note 7, too for the BOGO, so it just became too weird thinking of it as a birthday gift. We also had our 20th wedding anniversary but were too busy to make much of it, though we did have a nice dinner. But I spent most of that day pulling weeds. Blech. Not much of a milestone anniversary.

So anyway, I guess this foray into Pixel will be that little extravagant thing that is all mine. I hope it goes better than my Note7 adventure did.

Blabber away. I'm interested in reading about what everyone else is doing or I wouldn't be here.

What kind of trouble is Google Music giving you? I only have it on two devices. On the SE and the S7 Edge. But mostly I'm using Apple Music because that's where I set up most of my play lists.

I'm comfortable with my decision to take the free S7Edge. Of course...that decision cost me nothing really.

I'm still wrestling with the Pixel preorder. Not that I have any reservations about the hardware or cost like most people do. It's just that I would be giving up more of my illusion of privacy than I've been used to, even past my two years on Facebook. It really hit me when I loaded up Allo and it asked for permission to know and track and record all of my web searches so Google Assistant could work. And I was like "Hell to the no, shut up!" Lol...um, I think I may be negating the whole point of owning a Pixel phone!

Now I am a 50 year old housewife whose husband and kids have ready access to my phone and computers anyway, so it's not like I'm hiding a raunchy search history. Even if I were, so what, it couldn't be any more scandalous than what Miley Cyrus wears to a lunch date. But still...eww, creepy stalker phone is creepily stalking me!

Off topic, but you guys saying about owning an Android and iOS device, and swapping between them as and when... how does that even work?
Is that not a massive pain in the backside?!
I could potentially do that, but my WhatsApp chats are not going to be able to come over from one to the other, which is a big deal breaker for me seeing as everyone I text is on it.

I only ask as I'm in the market for a second Android device to use alongside my 7+ but I can't decide whether to and what phone. Tempted by Pixel but also liking look of Xperia ZX, HTC10 and Lumia950 again. Not Android I know, but it's in the mix coz I regret the day I got rid of that phone and the camera was the best I've ever used.

I'm sticking with the Note 7. I'm playing the Samsung lottery and still using my v1 Note 7. I'm still waiting for my replacement in the mail from Samsung Canada.

My Note 7 has never felt warm, has no carrier bloatware (windmobile), never had to reboot from TouchWiz crashing (current uptime is 12 days, rebooted when it last updated.)

If Samsung pushes an auto update to brick it, I'll probably get the s7edge or v20. Somethings about the v20 that I don't like are no hardware camera button (current Samsung flagships use a double tap of the home button to launch the camera), no AMOLED screen (I like how dim they are in the dark and how bright they are outside), no AOD/clock.
So you love a phone that much to just set fire to the cash you paid for it, if Samsung bricks the holdout devices? Wow,
it's just a phone. Doubt you are going to get that replacement now

Haven't decided. I really liked my note 7. I may try the pixel. My main phone is an iPhone 6s Plus, waiting on the 7 plus to upgrade that. I may just go back to my note 3 until Samsung fixes the note issues. My note 7 doesn't get hot/warm or anything, but don't want to take any chances

I have a main phone, my SE, that I communicate with. That's the one on the line with the phone number I give out. I have iMessage to communicate with most of the parents I deal with and the doctors, etc.

The Android phone was just supposed to be for fun. A pocket computer. I do my emails on it but all my emails are set up to be pulled in by both phones. I gotta go, someone's yelling for me and I'll talk more about it when I get back.

I am keeping mine as long as I possibly can. Mine has been a great phone and I do not want to give it up.

Do you have the replacement one at least?

I'm wondering whats going to happen with people like yourself who just want to keep the device? I wonder if they will eventually remotely disable the phone or something like that.

I don't know how people do it. Just losing all my text messages is devastating, and not having stuff in sync.

Yup, will be getting 2 more S7 Edge. So total of 3. Most likely will sell them when the S8 comes. S8 pro (replacing the Note line perhaps?) after that?

I'm already scared to death of the Pixel. I'm second and third and fourth guessing that decision.

I activated Allo, which is the messaging app and it has the Google Assistant residing in it. I can't use it, however, because I can't bring myself to give it the necessary permission to track my location at all times and to track all of my web searches.

When I signed on to my Surface and activated Cortana I actually read the entire multipage TLDR end user agreement and was appalled at the level and degree of tracking it insists on doing on you. I didn't want to agree to it but my husband teased me and we argued until I gave in. I barely use it anymore so it's not had anything to track on me, really.

My husband is a completely different personality type from me in some respects and I am a very cautious and protective and territorial person while he is the opposite. I'm the one who hears the noises at night and gets up and grabs a weapon and checks the property. I grew up in a bad area and goodness, the stories I could tell! My upbringing has made me pretty paranoid in many ways.

So anyway, I am probably the completely wrong personality type for this sort of phone and ecosystem. On the other hand, I am completely boring and anyone sorting through my data would die from the tedium. So I may as well give it a try. Maybe.

Okay, so couldn't get myself to like the iP7 ( in my whole 24 hrs of ownership and use :p), so swapped it for the S7 edge and ate the $50 restock fee o_O

@GrumpyMom : Google Music is a PITA if you switch devices often because (a) They don't let you deauthorize more than 4 devices per year and (b) You can't have more than 10 authorized on it, per account.

With as many phones as I switch around, plus tablets and computers.. it didn't take long to fill up those 10 spots, even after deleting the allowed limit of 4. So, now, I gotta call Google and have it out wth them.. It ain't the first time I've had to do this, so I know it's no fun :( Maybe have a few J-bombs before calling this time!! ;)

Oh well, time to fiddle wth the edge some more :D

I returned my Note 7 earlier this week.

Other than the battery it was a stellar smartphone. Sadly the entire industry loses because of this unfortunate event. Apple desperately needs the competition and iPhone users take the hit as well. Without a challenger Apple is quick to get lazy, continue to stay fat and happy off profits, and make buyers wait years for improvements and innovation.

I'm looking forward to my upcoming Nexus Pixel XL.

You're calling apple lazy but getting a Pixel XL which looks and costs exactly the same as IP7+ but without dual camera, without water resistant function, without optical image stablisation, without 3D Touch, without store support, etc etc

I would have said you are justified if you pick up a V20.
