After a fairly sedate month in October and a last minute push to finish the challenge due to back problems that put me out of my challenge for over 2 weeks. I’ve got this:

Considering last month was to complete my 30 minute exercise ring 12 times, this seemed harsh this morning. After another look though, I reckon it can be done fairly easily.

I'm new to the apple watch, I've only had it for a little over a week :)
I don't have a "November Challenge" but I have an "Ideal Month" challenge (loose translation), is that it? Or do you only get the monthly challenges after some time with the watch? Thanks!

Welcome! which AW did you get?
it is actually called "Perfect Month", you get that when you reach your move goal every day in a month.
And yes, you'll have to working out for some time (I got my 1st watch almost 5 years ago so can't remember exactly) but I'm Sur if you do, you will get a Dec challenge.
Enjoy your AW!

Hi! I got the Series 5 Nike edition. Ah yes, that's exactly what it says.
I guess I'll join you in December then, thank you!

Thats impressive!
Yeah well, let see if I can actually do it. November is always tough for me for exercise as there are a lot of things going on. But covid.... so we'll see.

My daughter and I walk 4-5 miles a day (16 min/mile) so that usually does it.

That’s good to hear. I’m not quite that active, but more active than I was before I got the watch. But I’ve done 6 of my 25 workouts.

The Election Day was stressing me out, so I ended up going to the gym for several hours and got my rings

spinning and spinning! The Apple Watch literally saved my life. I’ve lost 100+ pounds in the last year and a half. Closing those rings and seeing how many calories I have left for the day through the Lose It app are huge for me!

3,450 exercise minutes this month or 115 per day.

I am using the 'other' workout as none of my Apple Watches ever give me full credit for my exercise minutes when walking either indoor nor outdoor.

I walk for an hour every morning and run 3 miles on treadmill at least 3-4 times a week.

Next year I will be ignoring the monthly achievements as they have been more of a burden than a help. Obsessing over these crazy achievements just isn't worth it.

"other" is little more than a timer. It'll give you full credit for sitting in front of the telly and drinking beer.

Per Apple: "Choose Other when you can't find a matching workout type. In all workouts, the Heart Rate and Motion sensors work together to give you accurate credit. When you use Other, or any workout type available in the Add Workout section, you earn the credit equivalent of a brisk walk when these sensor readings are unavailable."

I use "other" when mowing the lawn or raking leaves. That activity keeps my HR readings in zone 2, which is the same zone I train in on my erg.

I just don’t count those activities. Feels like cheating! But I might consider it as winter draws on and I’m less active outside.

In my experience, "other" credits exercise minutes for the slightest activity (which is very useful for ensuring that you always meet your daily targets). It also credits calories at a much higher rate (I'd say about x2 but possibly more) than when nothing is selected.

If the heart rate/motion sensor combo was as accurate as they say then you wouldn't need to tell the watch that you were doing exercise nor what form of exercise you were doing. The purpose of those options is so that the watch can alter the criteria for what counts as exercise and what counts as a calorie burned.

I didn’t tell the watch when I started my first work out (cross trainer) as I didn’t know you had to. It worked it out though.

Well, I decided to do the challenge and I'm at 53.4 out of 196.8 miles. I think I'm addicted to this stuff and it's kind of pissing me off. I say I'm going to break my streak or not do a monthly challenge and I'm still going out putting in at least 8 miles a day, and on Sundays waking up early so I can do 6 miles before Football starts. If I don't, I almost get paranoid or the feeling like not doing anything will be very very bad. It's weird and I hate it. :(

It really depends. If I'm running hard, it'll pick it up, if I'm walking with my family, I get no credit, so I always have to have a walk selected.
