I really hope that doesn't turn out to be the case, as I'd like to play the expansions, etc.

Me too - as I have said on the official Bioware forums I will happily eat my words and publicly proclaim myself as wrong ... but I have been looking for actual official clarifications since late December on patches, DLC, etc ... and nothing coming.

Well damn, no wonder D2D was selling it for 50% off (when I bought it). I guess I should have gotten in on the pre-order deal for the Windows version of Awakening . Oh well, still a great game!

EDIT: Well, it looks like your Mac key can work for a downloaded PC copy from EA! I think I may do this, so I can get DLC and Awakening. Not to mention what sounds like a less sluggish version of DAO. http://social.bioware.com/forum/Dra...-Answers-to-some-Mac-Questions-1657591-1.html

Hopefully I won't have to bother even installing Windows, although I have many steam games, I usually only play Day Of Defeat: Source and Counter-Strike: Source, oh and Killing Floor every now-and-then. That looks like it is being ported too :)

Last year, the only reason i had Windows 7 on was to have Steam and to simply play Orange Box and Garrys Mod
And finally a long hope as been realized! :D
Just wonder now when Garrys Mod will be on Steam-Mac :)

I'm going to keep mine, but mostly for Fallout 3 and Bad Company 2. I have Crossover running in OSX for Valve games, so I'll delete that and finally be rid of all the crashing and freezing that goes on.

Funnily enough, I just deleted my Windows partition. I can't wait for some osx TF2 goodness!

I'm sticking my Bootcamp back on!

It went through various different transitions and never got put back on after the iMac fail. Decided to stick it back on to make sure the game saves are sorted for when OS X steam comes out.

Is Mac Steam even out? I can't imagine any active Windows gamer deleting bootcamp at this point. Maybe sometime in the future, possibly.

Since the majority of my PC games are Valve or Blizzard made, I think it will depend on how the games run on OS X. I don't foresee me removing Win7 from my MBP (school) but I would like to have Win-Free iMac down the road.

Valve Time

Have we the exact Steam date of release? Or it's during April...

Well, yes Valve's website says it will release in April, so based on the "Valve Time" Conversion Chart we should expect it sometime late May to early October and as late as next February. So don't plan on deleting your Windoze any time soon.

You're right, I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment hoping for a release in early April. My wife is especially looking forward to getting the 75 GB back from the Boot Camp partition on her iMac.

.

I'll consider trying some of the Mac versions of the games I own if available, only if they are native versions and not cider ports.

They already said they've ported them natively.

@The Spaz. It depends what games (s)he owns. Source games are being converted, but other than that, we'll have to wait and see.

As for me, I'll probably not delete my Windows partition, but only because I shall be buying a new MBP when they come out. Core Duo MB isn't cutting it anymore, but it will be useful to keep as there is one program that still need windows for...

Is there any info on source based mods? I love Insurgency and neotokyo. Playing them under Mac OS would be huge. I won´t delete my Win 7 partition though because I need IE8 for some presentations, and I play other games on my Macbook as well!

I just bought a 2.53 Intel Mini, previously I had a Powerpc Mini, I'm wondering how good or bad modern mini's are for gaming? Gaming previously was nothing I'd consider for the Mac, but now thats steam is coming will gaming on the mini be worth it?

Using a Mac Mini for gaming is going to be the same as using a 13" MacBook Pro. Not very good. It only has a 256MB mobile integrated nVidia card in it (9400M). However, Left 4 Dead 2 runs at about 25-30fps.

Only for Valves games, which I own none of.

I thought the person was talking about Valve games. We don't even know what other developers are going to port their games yet.

I'm hoping for:

Modern Warfare 2
Grand Theft Auto

Nah I wasn't, I expect other games to come over to OSX over time. But like I said, I'm not interested if they aren't native ports.

Steam

I hear Steam is coming to the Mac!
Now that valve has confirmed it I will be able to play all my pc games on my iMac!
I can't wait!
But will I be able to play all games made by Valve on my iMac natively?
Or can I play all games on Steam on my Mac?
Just wondering.
PS: When I ask that I do not include visualization or any programs such as Crossover.
