So far, all the hardware issues known with the 17 Pro series:

  • Aluminum body dents and scratches upon impacts even when the phone is in a case
  • Speaker makes buzzing/static noises when the phone is charging and/or listening to audio on very low volumes
  • Back camera module makes a clicking sound whenever opening the camera app and/or switching lenses
  • Front camera/Face ID sensors make a clicking noise when Face ID activates

Feel free to add any other issues you’ve experienced. This is a ridiculous level of hardware issues for a Pro phone.

If you seem to think none of these issues exist, refer to the links below:

I agree but people will play it down because it's Apple and they paid a lot for the device. I don't recall there being so many hardware issues on a Pro iPhone.

I think if I had your phone for a day there is a good chance that I wouldn't notice any of these things.

I don’t have the issues OP is experiencing and yes I’ve already dropped my caseless 17PM: no damage. I have other quirks though and I agree that this release’s fit-and-finish is not very Apple-like.

My Ceramic Shield on the rear is misaligned. It’s obvious the assembler lined up the orange pane of glass with the bottom left corner of the cutout in the unibody. I see a strip of exposed aluminum under the glass at the top and right edges, a big enough gap that my fingernail fits! I’m talking 2017-era Tesla panel gaps bad.

Also this was really strange, but the right-hand Torx screw has some of its orange color removed, so some of it is silver. I discovered this out of the box. Maybe the assembler’s screwdriver bit took off some of the finish when they torqued it down…?

Finally, there’s a small rattle in the rear camera area. Noticeable when I shake my phone front-to-back or sometimes when I set it down on the table.

None of these items compromise functionality. They’re difficult to observe in normal usage (even more difficult to photograph). So it’s not keeping me up at night. But for a company that once said their tolerances were in microns, well then my new phone is an appalling build example.

Yeah, the misaligned glass on the back would drive me crazy. I actually had a scratch on my silver 17 PM out of the box which I tried to ignore with your same exact reasoning, it doesn’t affect the functionality. But when I found even more issues, I just had to return the phone. It felt wrong to keep it and let Apple keep my money at that point.

I would expect clicks and rattles from camera modules as they get bigger (heavier).

There are moving parts for the optical stabilisation, sensor-shift stabilisation, and focusing groups. Some parts float on electromagnets when engaged; when turned off they flop around.

My full-frame camera and lenses click and whir in operation, and when off they clunk as heavy elements move around. All normal.

One glance at the new 17 Pro tele camera will tell you there is significant moving mass in there now.

It's made of aluminium, not paper...

  • Speaker makes buzzing/static noises when the phone is charging and/or listening to audio on very low volumes
  • Back camera module makes a clicking sound whenever opening the camera app and/or switching lenses
  • Front camera/Face ID sensors make a clicking noise when Face ID activates
If you're experiencing issues, please talk to Apple. This seems like an isolated issue.

When pressing the screen in the middle you hear a click which gets worse over time lots of units already have this and it seems the screen is not glued enough on the device.

Technology is not what makes us human.

I don't think it is supposed to be glued. There are clips holding it in place and a seal around it is for water resistance, not structural rigidity. If there's clicking that would be due to fitment issues.
