Sorry, I know I'm being really annoying, and off topic.... But the difference between the 3 "theres" is something you should know by now....
I type really fast, and everything is auto corrected. Thanks for fixing the typo. Just don't do it again.. And yes its totally annoying.. and off topic.. you should have quit while you where ahead because people like you make these boards unbearable.

........Sorry. That's the last correction I'll make. I promise. :p
But I'll also argue that horrible spelling is more unbearable than an annoying grammar Nazi... Just sayin'. :p
Its off topic. So its more annoying to be a grammar nazi.

^^^^WOW!!!!!! There's so much bastardized english used on this and other forums, I'm surprised you're (picked the correct one, not your) picking on this guy:oops:

Lou
Yes, just like emojis and texting shorthand have shown, the English language is dead.

Lol. Yeah let's get back to talking about the 1080. Sorry, my bad. :)

Anyway, I just got the EVGA superclocked 1080 to use in Windows 10. I really wish it supported macOS...

People who were writing the article about 1080 Ti are more clueless than I thought. They have mistaken the Titan X Maxwell with TX(P).

Interesting GPU, incoming.

Ugh, this thread is getting derailed.

Some on-topic news (1080ti release date speculation):

Do you think each new amazing iteration of video cards that come out just kind of punch nMP owners right in the kidneys?
This is going to have 50% higher clock than the titan X? how many multiples of the dual D700 in TFLOPS is that now?

edit: 10 tflops. meh, non - TI 1080 is 9tflops. maybe the VRAM will be more? (D700 is only 3tflop x 2)

I imagine it does, but it also punches ME in the kidneys since without OS X drivers I can't really consider one either.

The day is coming when I switch to a Windows PC. Don't know when, but its coming.

The only possible thing that could keep me going on a Mac Pro without PCIe is reliable, speedy, and affordable eGPU compatible with both OS X and Windows, but that's practically a moon shot.

...

In fact, I think there's a good chance Apple could go for one or at least help out a 3rd party. If you look at the 2016 rMBP and all the TB3 slots it really seems like a shame there's nothing to freaking plug in there to use that BW (apart from a bunch of 5k monitors, like that was a thing on a laptop).

I am still extremely curious about who are the "big guys in the industry" who stopped TheWolfe eGPU Kickstarter, after the Kickstarter itself received huge popularity and people backed the s**t out of it.

Also, think of it this way for future products:

*speculation starts*
Only Intel integrated GPUS + "mac edition" eGPUs if you want the grunt. No more dedicated graphics which take up space, and get outdated real quick. Just think about what Apple could squeeze out of these eGPUs, if they provide a support similar to something like the GTX680 mac edition, which run SO well on MacOS.

Makes total sense for Apple as a professional product, technology wise and marketing wise.

I think it's much simpler than that -- ThunderBolt licensing fees. You probably can't sell a ThunderBolt product without passing some kind of certification and paying the licensing fees, which were probably a lot more than they had anticipated. That'd be my guess, anyway.

A few years ago that was definitely the case. I bet you're right it's still true.Intel, right?

I have to quote myself from few pages ago:
Edit: update. I have forgot. News from Retail. Rumors are saying that Nvidia is preparing refresh of Pascal lineup. Higher clocks, higher core counts for specific performance brackets, lower prices(possibly...).

One of the rumors: GTX 2060 and 2060 Ti will be based on GP 104 chips. For one reason: GDDR5X memory controller.

GP106 reused as a replacement for GTX 1050 Ti, WITHOUT 6 pin connector. Specs? 1280 CUDA Cores, 1506 MHz Turbo boost, 6 GB of RAM(192 GB/s), 150-160 USD price, under 75W TDP.

That kinda shows how much better is TSMC process, than GloFo/Samsung.

Good news about the updates, looks like they're planning on keeping their hegemony with Vega, 15% speedbump over the 1080. Not quite a generational shift but if you're waiting for a better deal this is yuge.
The only way Nvidia can compete with Vega is by using GP100 chip and reusing the architecture in the mainstream offerings. But that appears to be the case for Volta GPUs.

Pascal refresh will be interesting. I genuinely hope for using full GP106 chip, but without 6 pin connector as a GTX 1050 Ti replacement. Rough calculations suggest that that chip could be around current RX 470 performance. That would make making powerful, but power efficient computers extremely easy.
