Well, considering the W9000 is still > $3000 and has a fraction of the performance...
Wait till NVIDIA launch their Quadro version of the Z, it'll cost a tad more most likely

I tried out x-plane 10 for OSX using a singe titan driving 3 27" displays in portrait and it shot up to 4.5GB+ usage quick when I turned up all the settings.

And it really should make those poor souls who bought the "new Mac Tube" with Radeon cards wonder "what have I done"....
The Titan line in general, but especially the Z, seems to have a confused identity. I watched it's release at GDC and it was marketed as a supercomputer in your hand. It was about computing power, not gaming performance. It carries the GeForce and Titan names, but it doesn't seem to be aimed at gamers. Not with a $3,000 price tag anyway.Wow, this is some crazy GPU, but 3000$ price tag? Are they frikking kidding me? When did gaming GPU's become this expensive? Seriously, I remember buying the newest gen stuff for 300$ back in the 90's.
Nvidia is dumb..they should just have titan be there top of the line single gpu at all time..so a maxwell titan should be titan 2 and so on and be the top dog single gpu..leave there dual gpu to the 90 series. This make sense for people using mini itx and want the most of gaming because they physically dont have 2 slots..and make 1 iteration of the 80 series for the gamers..no need for blacks haha z's , mars, ti and all this dumb stuff.
My reference 780 overclocked to 1200mhz sees eye to eye with the stock ti and titan...i know i dont have that double precision stuff so make that titan ecxlusive ..people that need two of those usually have ws boards that got many of pcie slots so just buy two..
I have to agree with this. I'm tired of all the silly names, incremental increases for massive increases in price, and trying to confuse people with naming schemes.
The Z is a just a GTX 780 Ti X2 dual card, and if you're a top end gamer that wants to play at 4K at maxed settings they just get separate cards for cheaper.
What happened to the days of getting a Flagship GPU for around £350-£400 at most. :/
Have you tested out X-Plane on your new Mac Pro?

Sadly, those days are mostly history. For more and more retailers, "Gouge them" is today's more prevalent approach. But you can let a closed wallet do the talking while you search for real bargains.
Even though, at $550, this new 780 6GB card is not cheap by any means. I think it really is the best combination of performance, VRAM, and price in a single card right now in the CUDA rendering world.

Keep in mind the Titan line, as it does better double-precision math than other GTX cards, is as much "Entry level GPU computing" as it is "Top end gaming" in terms of the card use, and is actually priced accordingly.
Heck, the name even comes from the supercomputer.
..again, most appreciated help Lou!
