Anyhow, plug it in and BINGO, boots to desktop.

It's called "Nvidia Graphics Device" but it works.

Details coming, if anyone is interested.....

And we already have a working EFI, fixes the name in System Profiler.

Oh, and it runs a 5K just fine.

WOW it works in OS X and you already got it flashed? Wow very nice work even tho I don't own a mac pro Im looking forwards to seeing more regarding the titan X and OS X. I have to ask Did you have to solder on a Larger ROM chip to the titan X or was the stock one the right type for a EFI ROM?

Sounds very promising. Is the 5k display Working or "working" with the same jiggery-pokery necessary with the 980.

Turnkey reliable 5k is definitely one of those zero% or 100% tipping point things.

How are you powering it? What are the power sources? Did it require a supplementary PSU?

Currently externally powered, whilst testing roms I didn't want power issues clouding the testing.

Will do some power draw tests shortly.

Was amazed that CUDA & OpenCl worked already.

Amazing stuff. I'm optimistic for internal power as most tests have the cards staying under 225W even at full load.

If you can get it running on internal power I might have to splurge on one.

Incredible News - Titan-X uses less power than GTX780/6GB

Just checked using Bresink's Hardware Monitor

The Titan-X is using 10-15 Watts LESS than a GTX780 6GB. The 780/6GB was using 225 Watts to run Uningine Valley. The GTX Titan-X in my 4,1/5,1 was using 215 Watts. So 10 Watts LESS.

And I just ran the Furmark Benchmark, the Titan-X hit 235 Watts for a brief moment, bit IT FINISHED THE BENCHMARK. The previous Titan and Titan Black could shut off the 4,1 at startup of Furmark, like a light. This is why our ads for Titan and Titan Black carried lots of red tape about using without external power.

Now, in the "small print" department, the OpenGl performance is probably not at 100% yet. I am seeing only a mild improvement over 780/980 in Valley. It is conceivable that a newer driver that can use the 30+ % increase that we should be seeing will also allow card to use more power.

HOWEVER, the CUDA number at just a hair under 7,000 Gflops is rather impressive.

12GB of RAM, crazy CUDA cores, and less power needed than a GTX780 6GB. Standing Ovation for Nvidia. Thank You for creating this card and drivers. And of course thanks to Netkas, without whom we would have fewer EFI options.

Have you tried 10.10.3 beta with fresh beta driver?
Might improve performance/opengl name.

It does have a TDP of 250 Watt and it does use ~85 Watt more at load than the Geforce GTX 980, which means it will have even higher spikes.

The low power usage of Maxwell 2 will slowly fade away with DirectX12 and Vulcan, just like Mantle on the AMD side uses more power.

But it's pretty awesome that it is already in the web drivers!

So who is going to spend $3498 (+ MVC tax for a working EFI) on the Titan X and the Dell 5K screen, other than MacVidCards?

Maybe I am jumping the gun here, but do you have any ideas as to when you'll offer a flashing service for the Titan X? would it be faster to get the card pre-flashed from you or can I just buy a Titan X from Nvidia or EVGA and send it to you once the ROM is ready?.

The Host To Device and Device To Host numbers are that "low" because of the slower PCIe bus on the Mac Pro you use it in though?

I was wondering, as I get around 11 GiB/s for both with my GTX 670.

But the rest of those numbers look quite fine.

GTX680 2GB 3:07 = 187 sec
GTX980 4GB 1:44 = 104 sec
GTX780 6GB 1:36 = 96 sec
GTX Titan Black 1:25 = 85 sec
GTX Titan-X 1:10 = 70 sec

And unlike the rest, only 980 and Titan X Mac Edition can do SST 4K boot screens and run 5K. (something nMP still can't do)

Fired up an eGPU version of Titan-X in my 2012 rMBP.

It beat 6 core 3.46 by 3 seconds.

Not much but........it is running the Titan-X via TB1, minuscule bandwidth.

Also ran Valley at respectable speed on a 5K.

I have to confess that I am not too happy that Nvidia has gotten so much traction with CUDA. Thanks to them being alone in the beginning, it feels like many things default to CUDA when it should be the open standard OpenCL instead.

Especially as Apple users, we should really fight for OpenCL. Looking at Barefeats.com AMD actually does quite well in FCPX and Resolve. Those are the main apps that matter to me, since both Maxwell Render and Arnold are CPU based.

Anyway, when powerful cards get released, and we can use them in the cMP, there is reason to rejoyce!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this card isn't revolutionary in all categories right? Something about double precision?

I am not up to speed concerning Nvidia. Can someone summarize this cards benefits (strong points) in a few sentances? The amount of memory is obvious. It has many CUDA cores, right? Is this a strong compute card, or is it a strong gaming card, in the Nvidia universe?

The reason I want to get my bearings straight is that I see that two (now old) R9 290X mostly beat two (new) GTX980s in many pro apps on Barefeats.
