price point wise I expected that but I did not think Apple would have a scarcity of SS models like they appear to have. I bet in a week they will have ramped production to meet the demand
Last year when the iPhone X was scarce it was easier to determine stock and get in-store pick. It fun yet frustrating to try to get a SBSS model
I don't think Apple anticipated the demand for the Stainless Steel. I went from the S0 to S3 aluminum, gave the S0 to my Mom. This year I ordered the 44mm Stainless Steel with white sports band. Apple said they will give me $175 for my S3, but at ~$600 after trade-in, I will definitely be keeping this watch for many years.

Welcome! I definitely know the feeling. I bought a SS series 3 last year around this time. I wasn’t going to buy a series 4 but all the reviews and videos corrupted my mind!

I’m guessing 2 weeks at the earliest. Particularly the SS models.
I am with you all. I have a series 3 and wasn't going to upgrade either but I did.
If you have a local Apple Store nearby you might want to check their inventory. Aluminum watches are pretty available for walk in purchases as far as I've noticed. The fact that the delivery dates haven't continued to move up tells me they have production under control so maybe we will get these sooner!
Yep - every Apple store in Minnesota still has several aluminum available. Slowly going down but nothing for SS.
I called them and they had it in stock! Online order cancelled…and I'll be picking up my new Watch tonight!

SS is the unicorn of Apple Watch kingdom! Unless it’s Hermès. There’s a bunch of those around me...
Ordered mine last (44/SS/Silver) Saturday with a 10/22-10/29 delivery date. After reading this thread, I checked to store app at 8am this morning and my local mall (The Woodlands, TX) had them in stock so I ordered one for store pickup. I will add that istocknow did not correctly reflect stock as of 8am this morning. The moral of this story is to look at 8am in the Apple Store app if you want to get one earlier. Thanks to whoever posted the tip[ to do this.
Some local stores have the one I'd normally go for in stock, but I really want those Nike watch faces, lol. The wait continues...

I was checking a lot but saw it this morning around 8:30am. Picked up at 11.
Wow, 2 SS 44MM w/ White Sports Bands just showed up around noon about 2 hours from me and were snatched up in seconds! At least it looks like they are coming in slowly. Hopefully one will show up nearer to me. But that does show that it isn't just in the mornings when these things can pop up.
