So is this the final jailbreak, with all the apps, wiggle thing, etc..no more bugs..is this the jailbreak that everyone wanted or is there another jailbreak to come?

Ok, so how does this work exactly?

I've never jailbroken my iPod but I want to. To have the new apps and customisable home screen, does the update still have to be purchased?

Go to ipodtouchfans.com to get instructions. And yes, everything will work.

apps and everything!

SWEET..hopefully the summerboard works I know how people had issues with that..so is this the final release..I cant wait to get my Ipod Touch Monday, now that this is the official release I will be able to install this without fear..and hopefully its easy to install, and not too difficult for us who have never jailbroken or hacked anything..ever..please keep me posted on the progress :)

Awesome, now all I have to do is wait for ipodtouchmaster to make a video to show me how to do it without fear of damaging my touch.

its very easy and only took about 10-15 minutes because i pre-downloaded the 1.1.3 firmware and put it on the ipod before the jailbreak.

it does not come with apps enabled. you must still buy those.

i am very happy. now only if iSolitare was updated...

So, one says the apps are enabled, another says they aren't. Always inconstiences?

The first jailbreak that came out used the iPhone firmware on the iPod touch. You had to swap a .plist file so the iPod would think its an iPhone, then it would display the applications.

The official jailbreak released by the dev team uses the iPod touch firmware. Therefore, you can't make the iPod touch think its an iPhone to display the new apps.

So you have two choices. Run the iPhone firmware on your iPod, or run the iPod firmware on your iPod. I'd rather run the correct firmware.

Worked like a charm - thanks for the post! :D

I believe I used the first method - is there a way to confirm whether I have the iPhone or Touch firmware?

Also any ideas (assuming I did get the iPhone firmware) if using one of the other jailbreak methods will allow this to be corrected without losing all settings, music, etc? I'd like to use the proper firmware, but would rather avoid a complete restore/loss of settings etc.

Thanks,

Tom

i just used this method and now i have all the iPhone apps i am sure. even the icons wobble. it was just two extra steps outlined in the ipodtouchfans website. cheers

i jailbreak to 1.1.3 but now i see that in itunes 400 mb is used for system.
does the jailbreak leave some stuff behind?

go into sources or system to find the file that gets rid of 300mb of that install leftover - gone - gone gone

You say that you need to buy them. Does that mean it will sync the purchased apps? So far none of the other ways allow iTunes to sync your apps, and then it does not think you have them which = no sync of email =(
I just wanna sync my purchased apps on a jailbroken touch so I dont keep getting iTunes errors. Can someone confirm this?

What error do you get?

I was told in the IRC channel (by planetbeing) last night be the dev team that the purchased apps will still sync/work and that I still needed to buy them.

After the jailbreak, I plugged the iPod in and was asked by iTunes to purchase the applications. I clicked through the screens to buy them, and it started syncing to my iPod.

So far everything seems to be working without any problems.

well i bought them on 1.1.3 now jailbroken and it will not sync them at all.
ssh to ipod and i see the apps on the ipod but no links on ipod desktop.

downloaded them tough apptap and still no go. screw 1.1.3 jailbreak. going back to original 1.1.3 with apps working.

Yes my lil pets, go run around my lil guinea pigs. Enjoy the sweet taste of jailbroken ipods. Seriously, there are just too many people saying about things not syncing over, apps not showing to scare me. I'll just wait little bit more until a cleaner version is working and not many people having problems as well.

For Mac users:

The easiest way to jailbreak 1.1.3 is to use iJailbreak. they just came out w/ a new release and it worked perfectly for me. All you have to do is plug in ur ipod, click jailbreak and it does almost everything for you. all you have to do is that soft upgrade on installer, then it will show a spinning cog for about 5-10 min. finally it will restart, and you click through the few final steps, and voila...you have a jailbroken 1.1.3 ipod touch with the iphone apps, the wiggle feature and webclips all enabled. i couldn't be happier!:D
