OFFICE 2016 and El Capitan are totally unusable together. 2011 OFFICE is fine. I just deleted 2016 OFFICE and reinstalled 2011. I was plagued with constant crashes on opening files in the entire suite of programs, saving files and printing files but 2011 OFFICE works just fine. It is kinda annoying but not the end of the world.

My experience is the same as kissmo. I've had no issues with El Capitan and Office 2016.

I left 2011 in place while I was trialing the 2016 Preview, but before I installed the 2016 release, I followed online instructions to delete all traces of Office 2011. Then I installed 2016. Perhaps you should wipe all traces of Office and reinstall 2016 from scratch.

Likewise, since I've installed Office 2016 it has run like a dream.

I agree-exact opposite experience to the OP.

Office 2016 works very well, Office 2011 was not playing nice with El Cap. I had loads of issues with Outlook, primarily. WOuld hang all the time. Outlook 2016 is working very well

I've had a few crashes with excel which are annoying so there are definitely some bugs....

I still have both 2011, and 2016 Office on an El Capitan Mac. I don't have any problems using either version. But, I only use Word and Powerpoint, so I may not be a typical power Office user (if there is such a thing) :D

2016 runs well for me, but I do have an issue with Outlook crashing that is only able to restart after a reboot. Strange.

Ha, I am apparently the only one with the issue. I even did a fresh install of El Cap and then did a fresh install of 2015 Office. The whole office suite just bounces when I try to load a file. The programs freeze when using them and then crazy. I just keep sending the crash reports to Microsoft. I thought it was more widespread but apparently it is just me. I uninstalled 2016 office and went back to 2011.

Those that don't have the issue: can you all use the split screen multitasking without issue?

I had that as well, it just gets stuck at verifying and keeps bouncing. I did read somewhere that file vault / gatekeeper causes this and there is a command to bypass applications from this. Someone had this problem with gate keeper and ran the below command to get past this. Maybe if we did that with all the office 2016 apps, it might be faster? I unfortunately am back on 10.10.5 beta so cannot verify this myself

for the Xcode app

sudo xattr -d com.apple.quarantine Xcode.app

I just completely removed 2011 office and put 2016 on. Everything continues to just stall and if I can get it to load it just bounces / crashes on print or save.

So I just removed 2016 again and went back to 2011.

I don't have any noticeable issues with Word or PowerPoint 2016. I tried a variety of different split screen setups, with various combinations of Office 1016 apps, and others. No graphic issues, and all seem work in split screen mode.
But, I didn't try that before I had updated to Developer beta 4 today, so maybe that update has helped, too.

After DP4 update, Outlook 2016 is unusable. Constantly crashes on start up. I will try restart and report.

I have been using Word and Outlook pretty heavy on El Cap and things are running smoothly and I haven't experienced any crashing. Wonder what makes it stable for some and not others.

Does someone know, why i can't get a connection to the update server? I have to install all updates manually from the Microsoft Office homepage. For Office 2011 there was a hotfix for this issue, if i remember correctly.
