My new baby has arrived!!!! After a little bit of installing, it's now fully functional... still too early to talk battery life, but it fluctuates between 3.5hrs and 4.5 hrs on the clock. I'll condition it tonight and then tomorrow use a stopwatch to see how long it takes to drain completely with normal use.

For anyone who is planning on installing their own RAM, the screws are tiny... i had to go out and buy an eyeglass repair kit to find a screwdriver small enough, and even then it was almost too big!!!!

Woooo!

I'm writing this on my 2.0Ghz/1GB MBP!!!

The only problem so far is that it doesn't recognize my 24" Dell LCD for 1920x1400@60Hz. Same thing happened with my Mac Mini when I got the LCD, but that was through a VGA KVM. Once I switched to direct DVI, everything worked as expected. Unfortunately, I've used up my direct DVI connection, and neither the mini DVI-VGA converter nor the one that came with the MBP works for that rez.

Anyone know if you can zap PRAM on these things? :)

Edit: D'oh! I was putting this through the same KVM switch, and that was the problem. All is good now. (And this machine ROCKS!)

Yeah, I've got a delivery exception. Says nobody was home. Except we have a signature on file so they should just leave it. That's what they did with my Mini (and I was pissed that they did that because they left it at the wrong house:rolleyes: )

If the package requires Direct Signature or Adult Signature a sig on file won't cut it. Besides do you really want your new $2K+ computer left outside in the wild?

Correct. FedEx policy specifically says that if it has a declared value over $100, they won't accept a sig on file. (Which is why it was odd that they did for a mini...)

Finally Shipped!

I've been reading these forums for almost a month now without responding because I didn't want to get myself TOO worked up about my MacBook...

Well, now it's finally SHIPPED! At least, I received the notification this morning. I ordered mine on 1/10 but had some problems getting my debit card charged which didn't get resolved until last night.

I have standard shipping and it's estimated to arrive on 2/28. How accurate have other people found this to be? Will it actually arrive earlier? I really hope so...

Well apparently a few delivery truck drivers in Appleton, WI didn't get it. They left my MBP at the door. I'm just glad my mom was home.

mine was supposed to be delivered tomorrow but according to fedex its being held up by customs (i guess). what the hell is a "clearance delay"? screw you fedex. you never get stuff to me on time. how long does it take to approve? its a damn laptop. some sick people probably have it out using it while im here waiting. hey...fedex flunky! back in the box and to my door now!

It's not FedEx's fault. It's U.S. Customs. They pick random packages to screen. You just got unlucky. Out of the shipment of a few thousand MacBooks, they picked yours. (And probably a few dozen others.) It happens with all shippers who are 'importing' something.

Well your location says you're on the moon....so that might have something to do with the delay. Word on the street is that customs for the Moon is getting tight :D

Anyone feel like answering this?

FedEx's first quote had it leaving China on 2/21 at 2:48 PM, due for delivery on 2/24 at 10:30 AM.

It arrived today (2/24) at 9:58 AM. I'm typing this post on it at a nice little coffee shop, after immediately slapping in the extra 1 GB of memory.

The outer shipping box was damaged, but the inner sleek black box was in perfect shape. Man, is this thing a screamer, though.
