Hello forum, I'm a new member, and Mac user. I've been using PC my whole life (used FCP) in high school but die hard MS guy ( I have a windows phone). I got a MBPr last month and I'm loving it, pc broke within three years so I decided to up my game and get a pricey apple. I want to get the most I can out of my Mac and not use it as a $1300 facebook machine, I'm in school and I want it to last way longer than my PC of three years. I plan on using these forums and the Apple forums to get more of my Mac. Thanks.

Hi there everyone! An Apple fan over here from the Netherlands who has been following MR for a while now, as well as the forum, and finally signed up. I can join the discussions now, haha! Right now I have got a MacBook Air, an iPhone 5 and I had an iPad Air which I sold because I just didn't use it anymore after I got my Mac. Before the iPhone I had two Android phones, but after my last Android began smoldering and I borrowed an iPhone, I bought one myself :) And ever since, I'm on the iOS / OS X ship. Hope to catch up here on MR and I'm sure you'll see me around!

I am newww :)

I have recently joined T-Mobile with the iPhone 6 because I won it free so I figured I'd actually use the phone with T-mobile(instead of selling it).

I came from Windows Phone and while I likely will go back to Windows phone come October/November, I still am enjoying my experience with IOS and I am glad to find a vibrant community for it.

land of confusion
So I am actually a long time lurker, finally poster.

I switched to Mac's back in 2006 buying a 17" core 2 duo intel Imac and haven't looked back since. That machine has been beat up by two growing kids and it still runs like a champ. The only problem I have ever had with it was the Superdrive went out on it.

Since then we have added my wife's MacBook, my MacBook Pro, switched off cable and got an apple TV for Netflix and Hulu. I had a flip phone till I bought my 4s and now have a 6+ that I love. I think the size is just perfect for me.

I want to get a mini to hookup to our TV to be a media driver and then some, but the wife is pushing back on that :|

Other than that I work a state job and realized these were forums I could actually post at throughout the day.

Hi, I noticed that some users (maybe new users) can't reply to the political, social thread? Is this some form of censorship and opinion conditioning, or simply a "new user" thing (and how long is a new user new?)

I would assume the limit is to reduce trolling of the political nature.

No, it is not a form of 'censorship'. In fact, it has been a long-standing feature of the forums.

You need a minimum of 100 posts in order to be able to post in PRSI. There are other areas of the forum - such as the Marketplace - which require a specified minimum of posts before you can join.

I believe there may be a minimum 10 post limit before it opens to a new member. You may also need to contact a moderator to get a key/pass/allowance.

No, the requirement is 100 posts, which will give you the forum 'rank' of 'regular' (the one immediately after 'member').

Welcome to the forum. I think you'll find it a pretty congenial, interesting and generally - welcoming place.

I knew there was a post count requirement, I just didn't know it was that high.

You'll get to 100 posts pretty quickly; just post and take part in the discussions and topics in the forums that interest you.

The other thing to note is that posts in the PRSI itself do not count towards your total number of posts, and the atmosphere on some of the threads can become rather heated and somewhat intemperate on occasion. I suspect that the threshold of posts required was intended firstly, to protect that section of the firm from spammers, and secondly, to ensure that members had developed some sort of presence and identity within the forum before being granted access.

New forum user here. :)

I have not yet purchased an iPhone, but I am in the market so I came here to do some reading and research. I do own an iPod Touch 5th Gen, and we have a very very old Macbook. All of our other computers are custom builds with Windows for either programming, gaming, or both.

I'm an empty nester (mother of 2), retired web hosting admin, a gamer, and quite the tech geek (ive rooted every android cell phone I have). I've also added a few other small tidbits about me in my bio.

Hopefully I will be able to learn from you all so that I can make an informed decision on which unlocked iPhone model would best suit me.

Hi! I'm a frustrated blogger so this is a really nice site for me. Thanks. Let me introduce myself. I'm Lea and I love mobile games. And most of the games I play for pasttime are those simple and casual games. I played Candy Crush Saga but I got bored with it and now I'm into a new puzzle game that I really love. It's Honeyday Blitz 2. Same concept with Candy Crush, but not too sweet and girly graphics. Suits me well.

Greetings All, new to the forum and Mac; been a long time Windows user. Now using a Mid 2010 13" MBP which is my first MBP that I bought a several months ago and use it almost exclusively. I went with an older unibody vs. the retinas as my entry into Macs, plus it was more cost effective to me at the time. Since owning it, I've already upgraded the RAM and installed a 256gb SSD; I'm happy with my current setup and quick boot up(15-20 sec) from the upgrades. Currently on the hunt for a MBA(travel purposes) and Mac Mini as the desktop.
