They won’t talk specifics (nothing new for a public company), but they’ve had the FF line on the market for over a year now. Since then, they did introduce an new M43 camera earlier this year (G100) that was aimed at Vloggers, and they had a pretty big firmware update to the G9 late last year.

The S5 is pretty much double the price of the G9, so again, it’s hard to make such an equivalent comparison to say one is replacing the other. The FF model is a much bigger investment. Looks like a pretty nice camera body though.
With Olympus sinking as they put all of their eggs on one format could Panasonic be playing 2 decks and seeing what hand wins. I wonder if Panasonic will continue with M43 if Olympus folds. Or will they maybe buy out the Olympus camera division?

Didn't hear about this until now, it's a shame but not surprising. I had a few Olympus cameras back in the days of film, I believe they still work. Cameras, especially on the lower consumer/prosumer end are all the time becoming a more niche product, so companies will continue to struggle.

They already have an agreement to sell to JIP, so Panasonic won’t be the buyer. I have wondered if they asked Panasonic first and couldn’t come to terms. Many will say Olympus really hurt when they had a corporate scandal years prior. Still, Olympus is continuing on, and they’ve since announced the EM10.4 and the 100-400 and 150-400 pro lenses.

Panasonic just released their M43 G100 and their FF S5.

IMHO, they'll go with the one that actually sells better... that rumored GH6 has yet to materialize...

Here's the latest.

Needless to say, they won't comment on future products or if they're going to stay in North America...

To minimalize my gear, I just sold off all my MFT stuff (Olympus and Panasonic) this past Monday..

Just going with APSC mirrorless and keeping my DLR's for now...
