So you want a company to put the same tech into a smaller device while they make it cheaper too? Good way to lose money.

I said smaller, not cheaper, where did you get the cheap word from my post? Is the iPhone cheaper?

I dont think people are bashing the iphone because its a smaller screen they are bashing it because the screen is to small.

the gs4 mini is 4.3 in and samsung is just hitting every size market with there phones.

they have 4.3,4.7,4.8,5.0 and 5.5 while apple is just at 3.5 and 4.0

Dont forget they also have 5.9, 6.1 and 8.0

Not to add to the argument (and I apologize if someone mentioned this already) but as an average sized woman (who loves tech) I'm not so concerned with how a phone fits in my pocket (nothing fits in my jeans pockets besides a credit card, that's why I have a gigantic purse). I commute everyday to work and like to browse the web with my smartphone during the commute. When it is crowded and you need to be holding onto the bus with one hand it can be very difficult to use a smartphone with the other one handed. The same is true when I am trying to text someone while walking down the street and needing to hold something in my other hand. Note this is affected by the size of the screen not just the size of the device.

That being said I still want a GS4 and I'll probably just curse myself as I try to stretch my thumbs to reach the notification toggles but if I could get a flagship Android phone (I don't want something that will be forgotten right after release and never updated) with a 4.3-inch screen I would very strongly consider it.

I agree for me personally a 4.3-4.5" device with the full flagship specs we expect from a top of range smartphone would actually be my own preference also....

We all come in different sizes, shapes, hand sizes, and have different preferences, opinions and lifestyles.

For some a 5" or what scarily seems to be 6"+ to come are the ideal.
For others a 4-4.5" device is ideal.

Whilst its great Android gives us choice of big screen + big specs, its annoying slightly smaller screen + big specs still seems to be an allusive dream.

I have a feeling that the main reason for the smaller flagship is because of the need for bigger batteries.

In saying that tho, after having the note 2, I dont think i could goto a phone smaller than 5" now, after rubbishing them when I owned an iphone.....

Indeed...... Though surely they could add a mm or two of girth (thickness) to accommodate bigger battery also.

But I guess the drive to 'thinner' means surface area has to increase to get bigger battery resulting in more screen estate I suppose.

My wife has a multitude of handbags. Her huge Xperia Z is fine in one of those.

You have your tailored suit. I have my jeans with large pockets. My wife has her handbags.

This is what I was getting at. Females and males have different methods of storing and carrying objects. Females have purses. Males tend not to. But if smartphones get larger and larger, we may have to start carrying man purses too :D

No, you are wrong, they are not making it smaller at all, the model still remains, they are making varients that are smaller to add choice. You try to twist words rather unsuccessfully.

Again, twisting words.

The iPhone 5 is on top of the GS3 which is larger than the S4. You claim to wear tailored suits, change tailors.

Most women carry handbags or purses. Do you know that most people didnt address what you said because it was so ridiculous?

You wear your bias on your sleeve, or should that be tailored sleeve?

So S4 mini is NOT smaller? Good to know you can still see with your eyes.

They took the S4, shrunk it a bit in size, replaced internal chips accordingly, and called it the S4 mini. That's exactly what Apple did with iPods and iPads. And pretty much any company aiming to sell different versions of essentially the "same" product. There is nothing differentiating S4 and S4 mini except performance and size. You're the one twisting words rather unsuccessfully.

Tailors don't make the difference. It's the fit of the suit. Loose fit, athletic fit, slim fit, etc.

What have I learned here? That no matter which forum/thread you ate in, it will always turn into an Apple vs. Android nonsense fight.

Nope, you are climbing back from your earlier ridiculous comment.

Are you capable of reading what I typed? I said they are making smaller variants. You came on this thread to start an argument by comparing iOS to Android (You were the first) do you remember that? And when the nonsense you spouted was disproved you try to twist words. I wont be engaging with you further. You know what you are. Have a nice day.

Tailors do make a difference? You obviously have not had a bespoke one or even one made for you. Thats funny, you ask your tailor for slim/athletic/loose fit? Off the peg maybe. Tailored, no.

My iPhone 5 isn't too small for my needs so why would that make me wrong? I can do everything I want to do on it and it fits nicely in my pocket. My preferences may be different to some of you but it doesn't mean myself and many others are wrong simply because other brands offer bigger devices that suit others.
