I noticed that Apple raised the price $200 on the iphone 6 plus. Now most will say uhh how do you come to that figure. Well the 16 gig cost what the 32 gig used to cost on the smaller iphone and Apple did away with the 32 gig. You cant tell me that they got rid of the 32 gig based on 64 gigs costing less for their margins. Its an obvious ploy. I don't think most people can get by with 16 gigs, however if they made 32 gigs the new low teir standard, a lot of folks like myself could have skirted by.. instead they are forcing people to spend $399 if 16 gigs is not enough.

Now something I didn't expect is the issue of watch compatibility. Which phone you chose restricts your smart watch choices as well. The apple watch looks interesting...not sure if it will be a device I will want to buy or not, but now I feel like I need to think about my phone purchase a bit more.

The Apple watch looks more feature rich than Androids wear. It also appears to use more premium materials. With that said, it will cost twice as much as most android wear watches....The devs could really make the apple watch a real winner worth the premium.. So back to the fence..

Its going to be interesting to see the battery run down results on the iphone 6 plus and note 4. I'm concerned more about the note 4s lack of boost in the battery dept in relation to its resolution boost. Will the 805 snapdragon counter those variables? Guess its a wait and see.

Size Comparison

Funny how plus size Android phones gets blasted for their unwieldiness, and then Apple goes ahead and releases their iPhone 6+ with the largest dimensions.

The people who feel this way won't be buying a 6+.

And while it may be taller, it's both thinner and skinnier making it a tad easier to hold.

At any rate, this statement is carried around more by people who are looking to start an argument rather than Apple fans making legit claims.

For every tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist who believes this, there's someone like me who was going to plunk down $299 for the 32GB 4.7" and now gets 64GB for that same price.

Meh...
Camera too soon to tell, OIS on both of them. I liked my camera on the 5s better than the Note 3 so I think Apple may win, but who knows.

build quality: Note 3 has as good of build quality as the 5s IMO. Looking at those janky antenna lines on the ip6+ and I'll bet the Note 4 has a better build. All metal back is a large negative IMO, requires a case not to scratch or dent it, less grip, and you can't remove the back to replace the battery or access a micro SD card, which the iPhone doesn't have anyway. Big points to the Note 4 there.

Screen versus battery: Dunno, might be valid depending on battery time. Has Samsung released battery times? Apple says what 12 hours wifi browsing I think? I'll bet it's pretty even though even with the higher resolution, my Note 3 is a freakin monster when it comes to battery life.

Touchwiz lag, IMO complete and utter BS nonsense. I don't have any lag on my Note 3. Better experience is subjective, but I do tend to agree that iOS is just a bit simpler in many aspects, but it's not like it's rocket science to learn Android either.

No comparsion on features IMO. S-pen, multi windows, micro SD card etc just trounce what the ip6+ has to offer. Plus I think the aesthetics are much nicer on the N4, much smaller bezels, the backing looks and feels nicer IMO. The only thing I fear is that the fingerprint sensor will suck on the N4 like the S5, I really miss the FP sensor on the iPhone which was virtually perfect.

Check Anandtech review of S5 LTA version which has 2k sreen and S805. It matches with S5 (1080p and S801) in battery performance tests. Higher screen resolution doesn't affect battery life like LG G3. AMOLED screens suppose to have some inherent power consumption advantages with increase in resolution compared to other screens.

Its not a conspiracy, its business and I think it was a poor choice.... A money grab to make folks go $100. If they can increase the middle tier 32 gigs, it make no sense to fleece the customer on the lower tier with 16 gigs.

If 6+ has 2gb of ram then it's 6+ for me. 64gb plus updates for 3-4 years = win for me.
Imagine getting the note 4 with kit Kat 4.4.4 . Android L is released after 1 month but Samsung plans to release galaxy s6 with android l and of course forgets note etc. You end up waiting forever for an update. Fail.

Not really, my note 8.0 has the 4.4 update. As does my dad's Note 2

Depends on the colors used on the screen. If you're using more black colors, it will last longer since those LED's are turned off. However, if using white colors, which is what most people do, it will drain more battery than an LCD screen.

Except, if you've ever looked at margins on the upper tiers and the BOM for each, the 16GB has always had the lowest margins.

Really, for years those who have spent more on the 32 GB and 64 GB were the ones getting fleeced.

You can spin it however you like (and it IS spin because you are speaking about a specific scenario). I'm just stating that for every person in your shoes, there are people in mine who are now getting double the storage for the same price we were paying before (same goes for those who were buying the 64 GB).

There are also people like my wife who still don't need more than 16 GB and stay at the same price point.

You don't know that and besides don't most people who care about smart phones upgrade every two years anyway

As someone who bought the 64 gig iPhone 5, I have to agree. Its a good deal for folks in the mid/high tier... Well its a deal apple should have made with the 5/5s.. With that said, I think 16 gigs is as ridiculous as 8 gigs used to be. Apps take up way more space than they used to. Pictures and videos take up more space than they used to. Folks are using their mobile devices more for imagery. Its obvious Apple doesn't want many folks buying the $199/$299 option.. I don't like their tactics there.

Hmm, but people who need the space are already buying the larger storage options....

The only people who can be upset here are the ones who will only spend the minimum amount and want more for it.

Otherwise, for everyone else the new storage options are great. But hey, just goes to show you, not good deed done by Apple goes unpunished. There's always an angle or some way they are trying to screw the customer.

Must be a tough way to live....always looking for these things. Buy what suits you. You hold the power in your wallet. If you feel Apple is TRULY being deceptive here and it offends you, go for something else. Make the same decisions every consumer makes and weigh the pros and cons.

I get that with the advent of the internet we can all now come here and complain about the little injustices we perceive, but that doesn't change the fact that you have choices.

I suppose I could look at it your way and say "Dang, I wish they had made 32GB the entry - that's what I bought last year and I want it for $100 cheaper".....but I'm a glass half full kinda guy.

Even my original note 10.1 wifi now has kitkat (although strangely not OTA - had to use kies which was a pita but still..).
Samsung have been fairly good when it comes to updates.

My new note 10.1 however has not received the update yet. That's not fairly good for me

I think I'm all in for the iPhone 6 plus myself. I wanted a larger phone and while the note has a lot of nice features, I think because of iOS, the iPhone 6 plus wins for me :)

It's "utter bs nonsense" in your case, while many people with higher standards have experienced the obvious lag/delay slow speed on the Note 3. Don't believe me? Just do a search for yourself, I'm not making it up. I experienced this myself. People who claim the Note 3 has no lag is either fanboys in denial or people who don't put their phones to heavy use. I wonder which one you are?

I love it how as soon as anyone comments that their note 3 has no lag, or that they haven't got an issue with TouchWiz, they get labelled a fanboy.
What absolute BS as you say..

Haha no lag on my note 3 either. Has more lag on my iPhone 5. Think you will find its only a select few who ever have had lag.

I say get the Note 4. Here are a few good reasons.

1. Removable battery. Nuff said but I'll keep going.
2. 160gb storage space.
3. Universal remote control
4. 3gb ram.
5. Better screen
6. Stylus
7. Better camera by far.
8. Fully customizable.

If IOS is your only criteria then any iphone is better, even the iphone 3g.

I'm happy with my defective eyes and poor standards.:p I've never had any lag on my s4, note 3 or S5.

I had it a lot on my original note but my last three Samsung phones have been lag free, big free, crash free and reboot free :D

I'll happily admit that my original note was a laggy, buggy, overheating piece of brilliance.
