So those of you that are phablet owners(HTC One Max, Note 2/3, Sony Z Ultra, Lumia 1520, etc...)Will you continue to only buy larger phablet size smartphones from here on out, or will you go back to a more normal sized smartphone after a while? I think I will stick with the Note series from now on because of the stylus until it is no longer pocketable. I'm not against a 6"+ smartphone, but I really need for it to be pocketable. However, the functionality with these larger smartphones seems to be better. I think I will continue to go with larger smartphones from here on out! Go big or go home! :D

The 12.2 seems a little large for my tastes, but I might pick up a 10.1 2014 edition.

It is very large no doubt, not easy to hold one handed due to it's size but I love it so far. It's great for watching the NBA when i'm working nights and amazing for using at home for forums, news, netflix for example..it's my at home device and the s pen works amazing.

10.1 is a great option too for those wanting it smaller. I like things big as you can imagine.

Likely my next phone will not be a phablet...

I will likely get a HTC One 2014 (if they fix camera) or perhaps Moto X 2 if they don't wait 8 months to release it in Europe, failing those I also would like to see what the successor to the Lumia 1020 is like.

I used a Note II for a year, upgraded to the Note 3 but ultimately ended up with a Nexus 5. As much as I love the Note, the software just got too bloated for me and I was drawn to the simplicity of the Nexus. (Along with built in wireless charging, IPS display, OIS, price, unlocked, etc..)

But I am considering the Note 4 again this year, just depends on what Samsung does with it. If they release something similar to the S5, I'll have to pass.

Love the Note 3. Hoping Apple puts out a phablet next go around and I would get it day one.

I was tablet hopping for awhile with android, not anymore.

I am using everything from the 4" Lumia 520 to the Moto X/HTC One at 4.7", the Nexus 5 at 5", the Lumia 1520 at 6", the Nexus 7 at 7" and the iPad Mini/Dell Venue 8 at 8". :D

Variety is the spice of life. I prefer to have options, so if I need a phablet or tablet it's there. If I want something more pocketable and easier to use with one hand, it's there. If I have a guest from out of town/out of the country, they have a phone that is unlocked and can use their sim if need be.

Used a Note II for a while and will not being going back to a device that large. In fact, after using a HTC One for about 6 months and ultimately switching back to an iPhone I don't foresee ever even going that large again if I can help it. My preferred phone size is nothing larger than the Xperia Z1 Compact or Moto X.

I have the Note 3, Note 8, and note 10.1 2014 (waiting for it's Tuesday arrival!). Sometime in the future, I will get the Note Pro 12.2. For me, the s pen is the differentiating factor. It's funny to see manufacturers trying to come up with a pointy stylus to work on ipads. They all work poorly.

As for phablets, the larger screen is just so much easier to use. Also, phones are now used for way more than phone calls (I won't list the many examples). The small screens on the iphones just doesn't cut it anymore. Having said that, there is a limit to a phone's size that could make it impracticable. At this time, I can't say exactly what that limit is but the Mediapad (7") is pretty close.

Even though for me, the iphone just isn't that great of a phone (for work, I have an iphone 5); once they really increase it's screen size, it's gonna set record sales. Many of the people who say they don't want a larger iphone will buy in droves.

Yeah but the iphone will sell like crazy no matter what because it’s apple...It’s just not really for me anymore due to how restrictive it is for my needs but yes a bigger screen will be what alot will want. Even 4.7 would be far too small for me now.

Oh, I agree it will sell because it's Apple. However, the larger screen will bring more in, even some Android defectors.

Like you (and many here), the iphone's screen size is just one (a big one, pardon the pun) factor putting me off.

Same experience here..From the first time I signed into the google play store (The phone hung up and rebooted) to the umpteen times it froze or stuttered..It was no where a experience that i had come to expect from a flagship android. I have tried my brother's nexus 5 on and off and it really provided an experience that was much smoother. My N5 is on the way and it would be replaced by a N6 alongside the iPhone6.

Maybe, maybe not. I had the original note for 15 months then used the S4 and iPhone 5S for 5 months. Now I've ended up with the note 3. Eventually found both phones too small.

I own Samsung S and Note series phones over the years and not one has problems out of the box in connecting to Google Play. I am not sure what phone you have but your experience (or your made up experience :p ) is definitely very unlikely to be the norm.

Definitely not. I have a Note II and hate its size. I love how the G2 and HTC One fit in hand though. I was considering the iPhone 5S but its OS is too restrictive. Definitely not going to buy a phablet ever again though. Too huge..

I had a Note 2 and went back to a smaller screen phone, not sure I'd have that size phone again but I'm not totally against the idea.

The Note 3 is a perfect size for me and I find my wife's S4 (not to mention my daughter's 4S) way too small now - I can't imagine going back to a smaller phone any more and the only reason I wouldn't get a Note in the future is if they make it significantly bigger (as it is, it fits perfectly in my pocket and I can use it one handed most of the time)

I have gradually moving to a larger phone as well. I had the S4 and G2 and N5 and now the Note 3. I have noticed that i do not use my iPad as much since I got the Note 3. It still fits in my pocket and is a beast of a phone! :)

I took my kids to a chuckie cheeses over the weekend and I saw a father outside chatting on his Note three. I will say that it looked incredibly odd holding what looked like a tablet to his face as he talked.

I almost took the plunge for the Note 3 last summer, I think for many of my uses I larger phone may be the answer but I am spoiled by the iPhone's single hand operation, I can easily use it with one hand as I commute into work.

Same boat .. when I left the midget iPhone to go S3 and then S4, I always thought that my friends Note 2 seems nicer still :p

Went to the Note 3 shortly after and this is really the first one I know I will stick with .. Now I keep eyeing out the 10.1 / 12.2 as tablet replacement .. just can't justify the cash right now :)

Note 3 is too large for me to use as a regular phone, although I do carry it around for use as a secondary "tablet" along with an iphone. I would love to merge all my devices into a mid-size phone but find I need the stylus frequently. I would definitely merge into a HTC One, Nexus 5, S4/S5 or LG G2 sized phone if they only included a stylus.

Anything smaller than the Note would have to really wow me for me to downgrade in screen size. AOSP Android is not enough, it's too bland and lacks features. HTC's slew of devices are bezel heavy and lack removable battery. Moto series is just plain ugly and feels like a toy.

Only other OEMs I would consider is LG and maybe Sony, but I need something that's really a head turner. And nothing less than 5".
