Aloha everyone,

For whatever reason, this time holding down the power and home buttons for around 25-30 seconds worked. I am in the process of downloading the iPhone Software Update (probably 1.1.1) and will restore my iPhone after that. I'm not sure if I want to try this hack yet - I will probably wait until it's a bit more stable. Thanks again for all your assistance.

Also, I have found that it will only hard reset after the iJailbreak fails if the phone is plugged in when you hold the buttons down...

Damn!!! I'm back having to restore my phone after ijailbreak hung. This makes about 8 times I've had to restore it in 2 days trying to ijailbreak it.

I'm officially out of ideas...

The phone is plugged in, I start ijailbreak, go to the site on safari on the phone, then hit "Ok" after Safari crashes, then Jailbreak starts and says it may take awhile, then nothing. After 20 minutes of nothing I disconnect the phone and have to restore it because it's not recognized in iTunes.

Any other ideas?

:eek::eek::confused::confused::(:(:(

Seriously folks, I don't know what happened but the sound on my iPhone has completely died! Is there ANY WAY this could have been caused by jailbreaking? There is NO SOUND in the phone at all except through the speaker. I returned it to the Apple store today, one day after my 2 week period, and they gave me a brand new one. If it happened to me, it could happen to you.

i HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!! i dono what happend it suddenly stopped all the sounds are dead. I tried restoring nothing. I have my headphones on.. but it suddenly stopped working!

This killed my phone....kinda. The phone still works but I can't sync to iTunes. It says it can't read the contents of the phone and I should restore. I try to restore and after extracting the software iTunes gives me this error:
Code:
The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-18).

EDIT: I quickly remembered to hold down lock & home until it told me to plugin for iTunes. iTunes picked up the phone was in recovery mode and the restoration process is working now.

to all who are having problems with jailbreaking; Try repairing Permissions on your computer, restarting, and repairing permissions again? Might be worth a shot.

By the beard of Zeus, will someone please release a (reliable) PPC/Universal version of this, or ANY one click jailbreak (even though none of them seem to really be one click)?

Sounds to me like the demand for a PPC one click jailbreak exists. I'd love to see it!!!! I just upgraded to 1.1.1 thinking this would work with my G4 PPC. (Nobody's fault but my own ) Now I'm not really relishing the thought of downgrading back to the earlier version and re-installing all my apps.....looks like my only option, though.

I had the same problem with my iPhone. I called applecare and discovered that sometimes if you pull out the headphone jack too quickly it doesn't detect that it is out, therefore it plays no sound through the headset resulting in only sound through the speaker phone setting. I placed the headphone plugs back into the jack and pulled them out slowly 3 times just to make sure, and everything is fine.

I was having the same problem. Someone else suggested using a different unarchiver other than stuffit. I downloaded the 'unarchiver' and used it instead of stuffit. (right click then unzip it using the unarchiver). I then moved the folder into the applications, just like the directions say. Followed the rest of the directions to a 'T' and NO problems whatsoever. Whole process took about 10 minutes.

Ok, I downloaded the unarchiver. I'll give it a shot tonight...

I'm pissed!! Still didn't work! I downloaded the unarchiver, used it to unzip the ijailbreak, and I even fixed my permissions and restarted the computer.

Makes no difference! Jailbreak just says, :Jailbreaking... This step will take a while.", and the circle spins in the iJailBreak window.

Ok, as I was typing this, a "Snowbird bundle" showed up on my desktop for a few seconds then disappeared...

Ok, a window popped up telling me to restart the phone.

And again...

And again... "Installing Springboard"...

Ok, it worked. After watching my beloved Steelers lose, then this rollercoaster, I need a drink..

Thanks to everyone for their patience!

I ran into similar problems, but I was able to get it install. Here's what I did:

-I restored my iphone using iTunes restore to 1.1.1

-If you downloaded the iphoneijailbreak and unzipped with stuffit expander, maybe that's why it won't work cuz when you unzipped, it gives an error. Instead, I used BOMAArchiverHelper (right click the unzipped ijailbreak and select open with BOMArchiverHelper). When unzipped, it will show and iphone icon as an folder. Inside that folder, there are two files (ijailbreak application and resources folder). Drag drag the whole folder to your application folder on your computer, not on the iphone.

-Go into your application folder of your computer and to ijailbreak, click that to open, then double click the ijailbreak.

-Before clicking on jailbreak, make sure to connect your iphone before doing the jailbreak and close itunes

-Then run jailbreak. It should take about 10 mins to complete. Make sure to follow the direction when doing the process.

Hope this will help someone

THANK YOU - THANK YOU!!!

This helped me.... GOT IT WORKING!

Anyone else having problems... try this... it took a restore for me too... but then it worked. Not using Stuffit seemed to be an import key too.

You're welcome! Glad you were able to get ijailbreak working for you

I'm actually going to go to the Apple store and use an iMac to do this. I am an OG PPC user.

I'm not sure you will be able to do this at the apple store? I think that for it to work, you need to be logged in as an Admin....I don't think any of the terminals at the Apple store are set up that way?

Please let me know, however, if you are successful doing this, as the 5th Ave. store is only a few blocks away from my office.

Talk about sticking it to the man....using the Apple Store to jailbreak your iPhone :D Just make sure no one who works there sees what your up to...or they'll take you in back, flog you with a cane and void your warranty. Good Luck!

I emailed the one touch jailbreak author about ppc version. He responded to me quickly, and he said that he's waiting for iphuc to become more stable. You might as well want to email him, besides he might had enough requests already.;)

I am having problems running Jailbreak. It will go through the whole process and it gets to Installing Springboard... its says to reboot the phone and it will automatically restart and then hit enter. It then pops me out the the main screen where is says run jailbreak or install apps. I then try to install the apps and nothing happens. The button appears to be broken. Any ideas? I have tried this 3 times each time restoring the phone back to the base 1.1.1 firmware with no luck.

PPC user here and I emailed him too yesterday but got no response...I am very anxious to Jailbreak my iPhone...I hope he releases it soon...

This worked for me, but none of the applications that i had previously downloaded and showing up on my spring(summer)board. They are obviously still on the phone, since when i use installer the applications that i used to have access to are found in the "uninstall tab." Is there anyway to get all of these back without having to uninstall then reinstall all of them?
