Pretty impressive indeed if all is true. I previously mentioned I’d choose a Note 9 over the Pixel 3 XL but I’d take this before everything else.

Question is, considering all that hardware—what’s it going to cost?
Around $650 or less if T mobile selling it in US. This phone will be the one that give the top 2 high priced companies a tough competition.

Good question.

I'm fine with the price going up a reasonable amount for better quality hardware, features, and software support. OnePlus needs to diversify their line up to offer a true mid-ranger for people who want to stay at the ~$500 price point.

I think the bigger question is how the camera will fare against Google, Apple, and Samsung.

It was hard to trust OnePlus after the exposed bootloader at release with the 6. But their device makes it hard to ignore. Small notch, in-display fingerprint sensor, and all this specs? If I do not go iOS/iPhone, gotta keep my eye out on the 6T.

I think you are right....If OPO can just make the camera on par with the top contenders and stay at around $650..... they could reclaim the flagship killer nickname.

I am kind of excited about the 6T. If they can improve the camera enough i would get one.

I am curious though if the T-Mobile OnePlus 6T will be locked to T-Mobile only?

As in-display finger print scanners start becoming a thing on more mainstream smartphones, I hope they're actually good. It should be just as fast as the scanners on the back currently are.

Another look at a device with a tear-drop notch and in-display FPS: https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2018/9/5/17822094/vivo-v11-india-announced-specs-features

I really hope the 6T hits the right notes. If it's anything like the Vivo, the design embarrasses the Pixel 3 XL, which is expected to release around the same time.

This tear drop notch is the only notch I'll compromise on. Imagine if the 3xl looked like this! Can't believe google couldn't do any better. They should be embarrassed.

All in the family product - Vivo, Oppo and One plus - share the same design, will surely put out their best once it get in US market, they know American has fat wallet.

I can see the OnePlus "startup project" as the initial goal to increase North American market penetration tbh. The main things Vivo/Oppo/OnePlus need are the bands to support all the CDMA/GSM networks around since the lower priced phones tend to lack the right bands. The Poco F1 would be a nice phone if it had the requisite bands for T-Mobile.

If the proposed TMobile and Sprint work out, Tmobile will solely goes GSM, why would they want CDMA, a dying network, just liken to Beta vs VHS in the old days. If GSM has more consumers they will surely go with the network.

I am saying if they want to cater to Verizon, CDMA is still somehow kicking. I don’t think the merger happens.

I think a lot of people will never be able to trust OnePlus after their past problems. Yes the prices are tempting for some people, but there are also good other options at a similar price.

I like the Moto Z3 for those nights Verizon. The LG G7 Android One version might be just as good or if not better too.

Isn't OnePlus 6's face unlock incredibly fast?

I've read/seen nothing but positive reviews of the face unlock feature.

@nviz22

What was the OnePlus security concern again? I remember briefly reading about it but not what the details were...

Really fast and accurate. And works flawlessly. But never the less, I still enjoy FP sensor way more then any other biometric unlocking system out there.

Me too. It's great that most will have both.

I still prefer no notches at all, but if you had to do a notch, this is the way to do it.

Eat it, Apple, who not only has no choice but to have a large notch for Face ID, but they sacrificed Touch ID (arguably faster) to do so.

And eat it, Google, whose design decisions on the 3 XL is embarrassing compared to this.

I have a bad feeling, though, that the 6T won't have wireless charging or IP68 waterproofing. There's been no hint of these yet, but I hope I'm wrong.

I am actually in favour of the notch. Sure, 99,99% of notches look ugly. To me as well.
But on OP6 notch is there, on the right are notifications, and on the left we have system icons.

So you do get more space. I'm using Note 9 at the moment. You get a tip bezel + all of that underneath that bezel. Takes way more space. And if you the top tray to be pure black, well, you can't even see the notch. So with notch phone actually uses less space then one without a notch.

Perfect scenario would be without front camera at all. At least for me, since I highly doubt I ever used one :D

CDMA will be dead once 5G hits in 2019-2020. Currently, CDMA is being phased out by Verizon, as customers are converted solely to utilizing VoLTE. Sprint also converted to VoLTE, but I imagine Sprint is in a holding pattern until after the merger is approved in early 2019 with T-Mobile.

Out of the entire world, only Verizon and Sprint used CDMA. Japan has a different version of it, but the rest of the world is GSM. There is absolutely zero incentive for One+ to cater to anyone using CDMA.

Hopefully CDMA is retired ASAP. I think it’s ancient and useless tech compared to other GSM networks.

I don’t see a 5G OP6T coming out, so that’s why I said if they want Verizon people they may need to make a compatible model.
