15.3.1 here, on my MacPro 4,1 -> 5,1 using OCLP 2.2.0

No issues - App store opens fine, Safari browses OK, Mail works. I wasn't aware of this issue until reading the thread now, so I haven't done anything to compensate.

On Sonoma, I'd been seeing the occasional crash with EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) as the reason. But I hadn't spotted a pattern to what set it off, and this went away when I jumped to Sequoia, so I stopped worrying about it.

So, just to be sure I'm understanding this correctly. Without doing any custom installation whatsoever, you were able to install 15.3.1 using OCLP 2.2.0 and everything is working properly for you?

If so that means something else must be going on here, like OCLP not updating root patches properly despite multiple attempts and multiple "revert root patches" commands being issued.

Does anyone else have confirmation that things do still work for some users?

You're reading correctly. App store and Safari open and work fine. I don't use them every day (Firefox here), but they do get used. And I'd notice any app or system crashes. Mail gets used every day, most of the day.

When upgrading, I always clone my existing install to a fresh partition with SuperDuper using Smart Update. This only clones the "- data" volume, but that's enough. Then use an OCLP install USB to upgrade-in-place with the clone. I keep my previous OS versions around and fully workable, so I could go back easily. And for software compatibility testing.

If memory serves, I cloned from Sonoma to 15.3.0 (using OCLP 2.2.0), then updated to 15.3.1 a few days later via Software Update. With OCLP doing its thing in the background so the update goes smoothly. I believe root patching was done using the 15.3 KDK because the 15.3.1 wasn't available yet.

I'd be happy to test my install, if you have something to look closer at. Tell me how to check if Java JIT is enabled or disabled, and I'll give my result, for example.

Thank you for offering, but I have at my disposal a quantity of these machines, so I will simply set one up for testing purposes and see what happens again with a completely clean install. (You can find the commands for turning Java JIT on and off in post 19 of this thread, but since your system is working I wouldn't touch it if I were you.)

I saw the JIT on-off instructions, but did not want to gamble with a working system. I'd prefer a read-only way to check the current status.
