Yes, of course I meant guest house!

In-laws get mini's until they prove their worth! If they already have, then iMac's. Refurbs......heck no. We don't buy someone's used love!

That's funny. I was thinking about maxing out some cards, too...I haven't been running large balances, and I know the companies which handle credit reports like to see large balances because it shows how confident the consumer is in their future earnings. Okay...you're prob right...12 cores MIGHT be too much...but it's a pretty big bathroom...

You are quite wrong here.

The credit ranking companies hate credit card balances.

I have a personal card with airline miles, and use it for all of my personal and most of my business expenses. My husband and I use it for all household and monthly items (food/internet/cable/phones/....).

Every month it's paid in full - haven't paid a penny in interest to Citibank.

But, his credit score is 50 higher than mine. Why? Because my report shows an average of $8K on the card in my name. They don't notice the "paid in full on time every month", it's just the average balance that dings me.

But you agree that the help should get the quads?

AidenShaw, we are trying to have a legitimate conversation about something here....please be serious!

Thanks

I'm being deadly serious about which decent dual use TV/Monitor in the kitchen to have for carrying the can in there to use after all these rich people splash the cash and buy me one! Maximum size probably 24 inch and it will be on a VESA arm bracket wall mounted.

Carrying? That's for the help...they get a quad, already decided.

Like you guys, I couldn't resist either. I just ordered a 12-core, D700, 1TB flash, 64 GB, and two of those nifty 4K Sharp displays. I don't really need it...I mostly just use it for iCal and Maps, but figured, hey, why not??!!

I'm buying one (maxed out) because it looks pretty. I was going to use it as a dining room table centerpiece but I've decided to put it in a glass display case to keep the dust off.

I might buy a second one with a 4K monitor to run screensavers in the background. Probably doesn't even need a keyboard. OS X has some neat screensavers! But I can also show off pictures of my cats that I've taken with my Hasselblad H5D.

If you're going to have a dining table centerpiece, it NEEDS to be maxed out. Otherwise, what's there to talk about?

Warning, though...people are going to want to see the inside of it. DON'T DO IT....at least not free. make them pay to see the beauty of this beast!

A second one running pictures of your cats on 4k would be nice. I'm not personally a cat person, but I could see doing this for my fine furry friends from the UK (Yorkshire, to be exact). But I'm thinking of waiting on a 4K projector.....then projecting an entire wall. That way my wall could literally change as my mood changes. Is that too vain?

What are you getting for your hired hands?

Also, if your cats are anything like my dogs, they would love an iPad. Mine likes to walk across my screen, and has friend requested people before...unbeknownst to me....So I got him his own. He now has 450 facebook friends, 750 twitter followers, and is now demanding a new iMac. Thank GOD he can't read, or he'd want one of these nMP, and I just don't think I want to buy a 6th one just yet....

I ordered an 8 core, D700, 64GB, 1TB on Christmas Eve as a present to myself but I am starting to wobble over the cancel button. I have since read a lot of posts on here about the D700s being old technology and the Haswell 2nd generation refresh, etc.

I don't think I will cancel it but it has taken some of the shine off the order I have to admit.

I bought a MP hex core 5,1 in July of 2013 (replacing a 3,1) as insurance against a high priced nMP. Glad I did.

I'd love to have a nMP, but for the price (include CA tax, AppleCare + RAM + necessary external enclosures and cables and such) of just shy of $5,900 for a new hex core with similar configuration to my 5,1 ... no, thank you, Apple.

As a bonus, most of the bits live inside the MP which is under my desk rather than hogging up limited desk space. And this machine suites my needs fine for the time being.

I'll wait patiently for a new, new "something" in a few years. Or my MP could fail catastrophically and be replaced with a nMP via AppleCare. One can hope.
