I now have a tracking number on the order page for SCHENKER AG (European carrier). It's not a clickable link and the Schenker site has numerous types of reference numbers, has anyone had the same carrier and can confirm what the number is, shipper reference, consignment reference, booking ID etc.? None of the options I've tried have returned any result but that may be just because it's new. Oddly the estimated delivery date is Aug 15th. The order page was just updated today Aug 16th

.

that's nearly exactly 24 hours since ordering to shipping, quickest I've ever had from apple.

I have never had anything that fast when built to order before, so that is some going!

Edited to add: mine has moved to Preparing for Dispatch now, so may not be too far behind.

Got my tracking info, it originally said the 21st and that would be fine for me, but the UPS tracking has it delivering on Friday now, so I'm more than happy, 3 days to get a BTO machine.

Shipping from Cork to Scotland.

Ordered the following BTO iMac on August 9. I went all out.... :D

27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display
• 4.2GHz quad-core i7
• 8GB 2400MHz DDR4
• 2TB SSD ;)
• Radeon Pro 580 with 8GB video memory
• Magic Mouse 2 + Magic Trackpad 2
• Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad - US English

It was built and shipped on Friday August 11. According to UPS records, it has been sitting in a warehouse in San Pablo, CA since Saturday. Scheduled to be delivered by Friday August 18.

I've already purchased a 16GB chip kit from OWC to boost RAM to 24 GB. I also got one of the new G-Technology TB3 external hard disk drives (8TB) for additional storage.

This new iMac can't come fast enough because my current 2010 model is DYYYYING!!! Hurry up, UPS!!

My carrier has now changed to UPS with a clickable tracker link, delivery expected 'Thursday, 17.08.2017 , By End of Day' :D

That is one helluva system. Congratulations.

Thanks. I was on the fence about ordering what I ordered, or waiting for the new iMac Pro in December. In the end decided against the iMac Pro for several reasons. First, I'd like to see some reviews regarding the thermal characteristics and operation. The chips they use in the iMac Pro run hotter than the i5 or i7 intel stuff, hence the upgraded cooling system. Heat causes things to wear faster, so that's a concern on an expensive machine. Second, the iMac Pro is simply overkill for what I need to do. Third, I'd have to wait until December at the earliest, but I need a new machine now. Fourth, the base price cost $1000 more than the machine I just ordered, but likely won't provide much in the way of performance improvements for my particular use cases.

Nice, very similar to by BTO, but I only got 1TB SSD onboard, upgraded stock 8GB RAM with 32GB(2x16) Crucial kit and the TB3 G-Drive 4GB external.
Think you'll be quite happy....

Nice setup! Yes, I am very much looking forward to working with this new computer. I just got the shipment notice from UPS and the Apple Store that it is out for delivery, so it should be here this morning!

How do you like the G Tech HDD?

I bought a G Drive 4TB USB C drive. I went to the G Drive web site to register the drive ( which is not necessary) and read that there is a USB 3 model which a 7200 rpm drive and has a faster max transfer rate than the USB C which has a 5400 rpm drive. The price of each model is the same.

I am not bothered because I think the slower drive might be more energy efficient, run cooler and there is very little difference ( 245 cf 195 MB/s). The USB C is plenty fast enough for my needs.

Just something I thought people might want to know.

Thank you for all the updates guys - I am beginning to wonder if American customers get preferential treatment for BTO purchases...

I am UK based and was quoted October 5th delivery for a mid-2017 iMac 27" with i7/4.2, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and 580 GPU.

October 5th?! You could order it online now and get it before the end of the month!

Ordered my 27" i7 580 32GB 1TB on 18 July and it delivered 21 July. It was a BTO so came from Cork, Ireland. Perhaps they like the Welsh ;)

Are you sure about that 5 October date? I just tried to order your spec and it quoted me 25-30 August.

Here in the UK I ordered a custom 27" i5 580 3TB on Sunday 13th and it arrived on Thursday 17th, a few days earlier than expected.

My iMac was shipped today. I already got a mail with info that my Apple Care starts at 20/08/2017. The estimated time of delivery is 24/08 which is Thursday. I already got Beats Solo 3 Wireless in silver colour.
I decided to go with i7/8GB/580/1TB and Magic Trackpad 2 instead of Magic Mouse 2 and a keyboard with num pad.
I also have bought Logitech MX Master from amazon and Satechi silver stand for Beats.
I will be installing Windows 10 Home on second partition, only for games cos the editing work will be done on macOS.
It's a pity, that I have to install W10 on my iMac to play games. macOS is so useful and beautiful OS but not for gaming, I'm afraid :(.

Finally. FINALLY. THE ROCK, HAS COME BAA.... just kidding.

But yes... my new 2017 iMac has FINALLY arrived!

Ordered: July 12 through Staples
Arrived Today August 24

The worst part? I'm at work, closing shift. Can't pick it up. Going out of town tomorrow... have to wait another 5 days!!

I guess the worst is over. At least it's finally here :) Looking forward to setting up my 27" i7/580/8GB/512SSD when I get back!!

Edit: coming from a mid 2010 21.5" i3, 1TB hard drive iMac. It will be a crazy improvement I'm sure!

Hello Guys!
My iMac was delivered on Wednesday, 1 day before the delivery window.
I already installed Windows 10 Home on the second partition which I created.
I also have bought a license for Paragon software for Mac and Windows. And I disabled core technology in Terminal to use my Mac partition in Windows. I created a special folder for my Steam Windows library cos when I installed all my Origin games the 299GB went almost full instantly. And we all knows that Windows 10 needs breathing space for good efficiency. Moving Windows steam library to the Mac part of the disc made about 70GB free space on the Windows partition in total. On the Mac partition I have 454GB free space. Yesterday I started new project with Premiere and it's about 14GB of footage (not a heavy project, althoug).
The editing on the iMac is wonderful. When I started doing my first videos in Premiere CS2 couple years ago, I was pleased with my Core 2 Duo PC which had two cores instead of one (like my old AMD Athlon 64 PC).
Now, the editing is much smoother and this screen, OMG!

Anyway, stay tuned on my gaming experience with iMac - more coming soon! ;)

What speakers are those in your photo, and how do you like them? I ask because I'll be replacing my current (circa 2009) Bose computer speakers with something else soon.....

I ordered on August 27, and got shipment notification late on August 30. Scheduled for a September 7 delivery. I live in New Jersey and the iMac seems to be coming from California.

Specs:
  • 4.2GHZ QC I7, TB UP TO 4.5GHZ
  • 8GB 2400MHZ DDR4 - 2X4GB
  • 1TB FLASH STORAGE
  • AMD RADEON PRO 580 W/8GB VRAM
  • Apple Magic Mouse 2
  • MAGIC KYBD+USER'S GUIDE

I am coming off a MacBook Pro 15" mid-2009, 2.66 ghz Core 2 Duo that I use in clamshell mode with a 24" 1080p monitor, so this will obviously be a beast of an upgrade. Can't wait.

Ha
Those are actually not even hooked up. Just some hand-me-down off brand that was connected to the MacMini the new iMac replaced.
I find the 2017 iMac internal speakers sufficient for my desktop usage.
Any critical listening is done on our 7.1.2 home theater in living room or on vintage turntable system in dining area.

Yep, the USB C drive they offer is 5400 RPM. One of the reasons I went with the 7200 RPM Thunderbolt 3 option, and did get Apple to give me 40 dollar gift card after I ordered it since I found it elsewhere for 50 bucks less....

Similar BTO as mine, you will be pretty stoked...Mine came from SoCal as well. I live a few hundred miles from you, I suspect you will get it faster....

I see you stuck with the base RAM 8GB option. Are you planning on self installing additional RAM?
Its much more reasonable than what Apple charges during a BTO and is super easy....
