I was told it would have cellular, if it does not then it will probably be going back, although even without it it's a pretty decent deal for the money I was still looking forward to using my Sim in it.

I've been out of Windows machines for a while so I dont know if a machine like this would run Quicken Deluxe or similar?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Please post impressions once you get it. I've been waiting for a Windows 8 machine with this form factor for a while. I'm torn between the Dell and Lenovo models, but leaning more towards the Dell.

The tech confirmed? You mean the salesman? At present, they are not offering the LTE model. And when they do, it will be at a higher price.

Have you seen the brochure and the fine print at the bottom?

It clearly states that it comes with LTE capabilities,...."or" is left to differentiate between color and eMMC size. So anything else would be false advertisement.

The bands and carrier aren't even listed so it might only work on Virgin mobile for all we know, or it might be some add on dongle.

Hey, I would love to be proven wrong. That fine print is fishy at best. When has anyone released a tablet without the consumer having to pick the carrier? So, a tablet this cheap is going to let you, once you receive the device, just pick any carrier? No way!

I don't doubt that until we know more. But whatever the full capabilities talked about thus far, the original versions should have them.

Hmm. Under Specifications/Ports and Connectors it says: micro-SIM slot (optional).

It just would be very odd if it did have LTE and they didn't advertise it as they do with all their previous tablets. I've also never seen any tablet released with LTE that did not charge extra for it, for that to function it means more hardware, the cellular card, antenna, etc. I thought I read somewhere about cellular cabability included in the chipset, but I'm not sure if that was Baytrail, Haswell, or a future chipset, but if that was the case then it might have cellular after all. But my money is on a dummy slot if they are not advertising it or charging extra for it.

We will see soon enough. I would LOVE to be proven wrong, and I'll run right to my computer and order one!!

some readings say the option is available on "3D models." Would anyone care to state what a 3D model of this device is?

If this really does have LTE it would be great with tmobiles free 200mb/ mo :p

Is that plan completely free? Or is that 200mb on top of a plan? This would be great for my wife, who only occasionally uses her tablet.

Has Dell improved their customer service? Last time I owned a Dell (2007). I remember calling customer service to get a promised upgrade from Vista Home to Premium, which was the running deal with the purchase of my model. They tried to sell it to me at a "discounted" price of $99.

Man, this is why off shoring to save a few bucks never really works out.

----------

I just looked at the specs and it seems there is no mini HDMI port, which is a deal breaker for me. I can't really see myself trying to use Visual Studios on an 8 inch screen, let alone any heavy Office work. I guess I am going to wait for a small W8 tablet that is actually made for docking.

There's an unboxing here. Warning, it's one of the worst unboxing's I've ever seen at 30 minutes long.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl6Dv0U6rvo

Yeah that video was terrible. Too long and pointless for an unboxing. The tablet isn't actually unboxed until after the 8 minute mark. Then another 22 minutes of pointless information that you can get in a few minutes of reading online. I'm looking forward to seeing some reviews and getting my hands on one of these.

I've got one of these bad boys, I just couldn't resist. It's pretty amazing, I never thought in my lifetime I would have a FULL windows computer in an 8" form factor as thin as an ipad and with all day battery life, just insane.

I'm not sure I'm keeping it though. The 8" form factor is a bit too small, not necessarily for windows but for any tablet, that's just my use scenario. If I'm already carrying around an 8" tablet which I can't pocket I might as well just carry around a 10" tablet. But if I did want an 8" tablet, this would be the one. I may even still keep it just to have it as a throwaway tablet, but my main one will be a full size one, maybe even 11.1" or larger if they come out with those.

It runs windows very smoothly, I've been able to do some gaming on it as well which is impressive. battery life is awesome, pretty much all day.

I really like the 8" tablet size. I'm upgrading my iPad mini to the retina mini. This tablet was going to be my inexpensive Windows device so I can get back the 40gb I dedicated to Windows on my MacBook Air. It's great to hear that it runs really well.

Thanks for the review spinedoc it does seem cool indeed. Is there really no way to get video out?

No video out I'm pretty sure. No mini HDMI, and I don't think it supports micro usb to hdmi/mobile high definition link, but I'm not 100% sure.

It does have Miracast capability for wireless video.
