It doesn't help when there are stories of Jobs saying things like:

"Apple will deliver aggressive updates to iPhone that Android/Google won't be able to keep up with"

and

"Next iPhone coming is an A+ update"

That really inflates peoples' expectations.

He also said that the iPad was a magical device. Therefore, he does not share the same reality than the average consumer. We really shouldn't be expecting an A+ update.

If the next phone doesnt have multitasking AND a front facing camera, no one will be happy.

I'll fall over and die if we saw BOTH of these.

Ok, so why didn't you START the thread with this?

You began by takling about things like icon wiggling speed and how it's going to suck. Is it any wonder you got a bunch of abusive comments? If you have legitimate points like this then use them in the first post and you won't attract so many argumentative comments.

What I said about icons wiggling was to illustrate the kind of changes apple have been making over recent times. Its hardly abusive? I even predicted exactly what I thought the main changes were going to be.

The reason people are so angry because they refuse to accept that Apple can put a single foot wrong.

The introduction of the iPad will guarantee a big OS 4 release. They want to cash in on the iPad. They hear all the complaints and whining about multi-tasking and the like. OS 4 will be a huge update with some major new features.

I have a better education than you so shut up. Why would pick on my grammar?!

And secondly, id like to hear the flaws in my reasoning rather than some really unfunny cat picture.

you suposivly have a better education and the best comeback you can think of is shut up, and not find that cat picture funny yeah good luck with that.

Welcome to macrumors OP!

I hear windows 7 mobile is shaping up to look really nice. Maybe that will suit you better when it comes out. There is a choice out there, so don't worry too much about iphone OS 4, just choose a different one you do like.

Well, I am bored at work:

Possible headlining features:

1. The ability to choose between square or rounded app icons.
2. The ability to have slow, medium or fast icon 'wiggle' during the homescreen editing.
3. The ability to have one, two or three beep sounds for text messages

...

you get the point.

Who else thinks that the next OS will be another disappointment?
i.e.

- no multi-tasking
- no notification manager

with a bunch of trvial trivial and over-hyped features (much like the entire iPad product tbh)

I think the most they will do will be video chat as one 'killer feature' and the ability to change the home screen background as the other.

Steve Jobs: "And one last thing.. In iPhone OS 4.0, you can finally choose the wiggle speed when moving your icons!"

I'm not sure where you're getting these "possible headlining features." Steve Jobs certainly never said the "quote" you removed, so I can only assume you're making this up. To me, hyperbolizing for effect doesn't make a lot of sense here. If you have a concise argument, state it. There's no reason to create contention when there is none.

well, ur You're the one buying the "magic and revolutionary" iPad - thatsThat's possibly the most brainless thing someone could do.

Well, I guess this is a little more subjective than just reasoning. I won't buy an iPad, this guy will. To each their own I guess.

There are too many fanboys on this forum - would it help if I changed the title?

Probably not, but you could try.

The bit that says "you get the point" - clearly many of you don't.

i dnodon't know? Do not know? Dunno? - shud should it be black logo?

Probably not, I haven't seen a white or black Apple logo on any of their products I've owned.

if ur You're / You are refering referring to some kind of contradiction - you dontdon't/do not understand the difference between being interested and impressed with the iPhone but retaining some objectivity - like realising realizing how underwhelming some of their recent updates/products have been and... gawking at everything that apple do does.

Well, I should probably take my education and go home while bowing to your superior reasoning skills, but the fact is, inventing issues about how something will fail or be disappointing without having any knowledge of it is a bit presumptuous. If you go in thinking you won't like it, you won't. Just remember that what's amazing for you is boring to other people.

You mean the same Windows 7 Phone Series that also won't have multi-tasking and copy/paste?

I give it up to MS for starting over and making what looks like a decent phone OS. However, they are playing catchup with Apple who has a few years head start. As it stands, the Windows 7 Phone Series will be a good match versus the current iPhone OS, but the problem for them is that Apple is close to releasing iPhone OS 4.0, which by all rumors will push them even further ahead.

lol at the moment ill stick to my iPhone. If Android gets a decent facebook/msn app, I might consider the HTC desire (again depending on reviews) IF the new iPhone and OS updates are disappointing.

You stated that what I said about push notifications had flawed reasoning - that it was indeed just a feature and not a solution - I wanted to know why you thought that.

And why are you so fixated on my grammar - obviously people truncate words, mispell, make into slang for the purposes of writing faster when on the internet...

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a dissapointment. I'm only looking forward to multitasking.

unless you can prove it, nobody will believe that you are better educated, which is very unlikely judging by your poor grammar. and 'shut up' is always a great come back, especially when you're trying to defend your 'education'. well done, sir

I like how your reputation was disabled so we can't see how many people in your class and teachers dislike you. And if you're as smart as you claim, you would realize that apple won't introduce features like the ones you suggested and try to pass them off as "ground breaking" or something that would be in an "A+ upgrade". If you look at the other features that were introduced in the major OS updates, like copy/paste, MMS, and the App Store, these should be indicators of how apple will not disappoint

They tried to pass the iPad off as "magical and revolutionary". End of.

the ipad is revolutionary:
-incredible battery life in such a thin device with portable internet
-ease of use
-large portable screen for movies and apps

any other products out there like it that are better?

The expectations for the 4.0 will be so high that I think 50% will be disappointed to a certain extent. It's unfortunate.

I hope Apple OS can out do Android.....but I have my doubts:(

I could view my iPod touch through a magnifying glass?

The point is, there is nothing revolutionary about this...its an enlarged iPod touch...

I hope it has multitasking, if it doesn't, oh wow. Lol. People are going to criticize Apple even more than they did when it didn't have C&P, MMS.

I don't agree. You know how often I'd be trying to load a web page on the tiny iPhone screen and just getting annoyed at trying to find something on the page because I can't read it? Then I have to keep zooming all over the place until I find what I'm looking for. As this happens, I usually get fed up and grab my MacBook Pro. Then I can easily see everything without having to zoom. This isn't only useful for the internet either... imagine what iPhone apps would be like if there were more space for better features, you wouldn't have to flip through screens to navigate, you could have multiple columns to look at at once (like the iPad mail app).

It would be a way better internet device.

You know... nobody thought the iPod was revolutionary when it first was announced. Everyone said it was "just another mp3 player" and that it was going to be a big flop. You wait... the iPad will be a huge success and it definitely has a purpose.
