Apple user since 1978 or so. Apple ][ was the bomb back then... 16k RAM... no floppies, yeah, things have changed a bit...

The name was already in use by another company, so Apple quietly changed the name

As for me, changing the name in System Preferences fixed the issue for me
 
The 10.10.4 release seems to have cured it here, but only time will tell for sure. I hope this error is dead, Dead, DEAD!

I have not had this problem in quite a while but I did have it. Now running 10.10.4 can I turn Wake for network access back on without a problem?
 
the latest update appears to have started the problem again on a computer that never had it before. Upon waking from sleep, I get a message saying a computer with the same name is on the network. Now up to a 6.

Note: the computer name in finder does not have any appended numbers.
