Was FileVault 2 enabled?

Was the progress bar before or after login?
It is before, just when you power on, and the logo cames out, and loading bar appears and slow towards the exactly half, then stuck.

Exactly half, or closer to one third?
(although there are no number but I am pretty sure it is the half.

Was the lack of progress endless, so you had to force off the power, or force a restart?

I tried the safe mode, which is the same, so at the beginning, I was thinking it might be the endless, but after I tried the safe mode with progress, it shows the progress at some point, and the fan began running fast and loud, sometimes it shuts down....

----------

Yesterday, I went to the apple store, and reinstalled the os, then I restored my backup from a week ago, and managed to remembered what I done after that, then just when I finished everything, my iphoto says it detect inconsistency, and began rebuild my library, then a lot of photos that I deleted years ago came back and many of event duplicated! I thought it is fine, as long as it is working. Then it shuts down, when I tried to power on, it simply shuts down at the loading screen, I tried safe mode with progress, the bottom line are CPU halted. then shuts down, what the hell is going on,,, I am tortured by it for a month.....

My laptop has been feeling really slow since using Yosemite. Just in general there are stutters and delays on stuff. Got me a little annoyed.

This has been happening to me also, to the point that I no longer think of this as an Apple more like a lemon instead :(

Error 2
On Premiere Pro CC while i was doing an edit... Suddenly it started to lag... then when i hit the playback button there... Nothing happened... it went unstable without any actions... the playback didn't happen at all...

Error 3
This happened yesterday when i tried to watch a short film on Youtube... This time there was no blank screen... but when i tried to move back n then... this is what i got... The screenshot is attached...

Also did system updates 4-5days back.... and these issues started only after tat...

Need to know whether these are OS(Yosemite) issues or hardware issues or could be UPS issues(Since i am using a cheap ups of 1000va, i tried to get a APC but the shopkeeper forced me to buy a cheap one... cos of stock issues).... Pls do help me out folks...

The iMac is just a month old... PFA (Screenshot of System Updates and Other issues)

These complaints smell of browser issues.
If you are using Safari: I regularly get updates for Safari, but as a FireFox user
I did never have problems like these with YOUTUBE.
You might check out with FF, Chrome etc.
Then again, that picture with blocks might indicate pour data transmission.

those Youtube issues maybe of browser issues.... that's fine... What about the issues faced in my edit with Premiere Pro... and also having certain lags while switching between softwares... It's not going smooth at all and my iMac is not even heavily loaded...

On the other side i have a macbook pro 15inch with i7 processor of mid-2012 model... i have been working with that for nearly 3years... it worked like charm with very little issues when there was heavy load of work...

You are right, the browser can not cause all those problems.
But, when several machines run the same software and their
performance differs so much, I would advice to prepare a
complete re-install of the problem machine from scratch.
AFTER backup of course!
A lot of work, but sometimes it is the only solution.

I would rule out hardware problems caused by the OS X update, however,
a kernel update MIGHT reveal hidden CPU/memory problems.
So you might also run some diagnostics in advance.

Perhaps @Vijay could also use ETRECHECK in advance to have a look at it first?

Since I've updated, I've been unable to watch videos on the Washington Post website (Post TV). At first I thought it was a problem with Chrome, but it is the same with Safari. Now I think it may be Yosemite. When I try to play a video, all I get is a still picture, or sometimes it will show loading, but it never plays.

Hello,
I tried the Washington Post from FireFox which blocks Flash on my request.
Is that the cause? You might enable Flash for a while.

I just upgraded to Yosemite a couple weeks ago just started getting massive system-wide slowdown. I'd have maybe 5-10 minutes before swod. I took it into the genius bar and was told I had a bad hard drive even though it had been working fine before updating. Beware.

Upgrading OS X means that every part of the system software gets replaced. It works a hard drive pretty hard, then there is the update of the spotlight database, which can take several hours to complete the first time.
Sometimes that unusual hard drive activity can push a marginal drive (even without any prior issues) over the edge, particularly if it is more than 3 or 4 years old. It's one good reason that an OS X upgrade recommends that you should have a current backup of your hard drive BEFORE you start the update process. That makes it simple to go back - or to install your files on a replacement drive, if necessary.

Alright, that sounds like malarky to me, but so be it. The experience has definitely pushed me over the edge.

It's not "malarky." Your drive would have died pretty soon anyway, the install just accelerated the process. There's nothing about an OS install that can kill a drive other than it's doing a lot of read/writes.

Yosemite ran like utter crap on my 2015 Retina MacBook Pro, El Capitan runs like a dream. AirDrop is the only thing that's stopped working.

It really is not malarkey. We see it with every OS update. People come on here with claims that "Yosemite killed my hard drive" or "Mavericks killed my computer." Many of these are just borderline drives that got pushed over the edge by the stress of an OS install.
