I am new to this, but do need help!
I've got Yosemite 10.10.5 installed on
Macbook Pro2,2 with ATI Radeon X1600 video card
It boots up OK, but it only shows 5MB graphics, and no sound.
What I tried:
Install Kext from MACOS Extractor, no success on video, still no sound...

Well, all the boot.efi's that I have tried do not work with this MacBook2,1 Mac-F4208CAA. In verbose mode it always halts after root device uuid. I tried the boot.efi from Lion as an experiment. That boots to the compatibility check. Booting with "-no-compat-check" made no difference.

So... anyone booting a MacBook2,1 to Yosemite? Which boot.efi are you using?

Or perhaps more specifically, has anyone installed Yosemite recently on a MacBook2,1 without the "copy and patch existing installation" method in the El Capitan thread? I might try that next.

Hi, I´m new in the Forum and I´m going crazy with my Macbook 2,1...
I managed to install Yosemite on my machine which is a Macbook 2,1 late 2006, I mounted a MountainLion forced with a MacPostFactor v.03 and I just used the v2.0.1 installing a Yosemite 10.10.5...This was the last try after several like SFOTT or MCP 1.0.1...At the end I did it but the graphic wasn´t very stable and sometimes it freezes, then after the first Apple update from the store I lost the Audio Output either.
I´ve read that probably can be a solution to alterate the kext but I didn´t find a valide one fr my Problems, I tried a couple found on the web but they didn´t work.
Any ideas???

Trying to figure out how to get my dock and wallpaper back, I think it could be a graphics driver issue, although I think I've installed all of the drivers and while the computer works fine otherwise, I still can't set a wallpaper and can't get the Dock to come back. Dashboard is set to off, there aren't any special programs running on start up - its basically blank. I can't get to my recovery partition otherwise I would re-install. Unless someone has some ideas I am feeling kind of hosed.

I have been trying to install OS X Yosemite on my Late 2006 iMac on 10.8.5 for a couple of weeks now - and since my mac refuses to launch from USBs, I am stuck with MacPostFactor. I have tried version 2.0.1, where I got stuck on a boot loop whilst MacPostFactor was creating the recovery partition for about two days. I then tried version 1.0.1, where I was told "You are not running the app on the proper environment". Then, after deciding to use Version 2.0.0, everything was going fine, and Yosemite began to install, until I was told, "Something went wrong and we are unable to tell you what it is". What should I do??

The installer shows the message: "Yosemite is already installed on this Mac". No disk selection is provided, or the license agreements. Any ideas?

Can anyone help me for my iMac with 7300gt ? All versions of macpostfactor won't working except 0.3...

I have the same problem. I was able to install on iMac 2006 5.1 with 1600 graphics kext and that works fine.

But on my iMac 6.1 with 7300 GT, I have loaded various Nvidia and Geforce kext files and after reboot the Console shows many "failed dependencies."

So, anyone got a working set of kexts for Nividia 7300 GT video card?

Console log shows these errors:

Could anyone let me know if its possible to remove mlpostfactor from a HDD? I've upgraded to a supported mac and would like to use the existing boot drive without losing any data. Can i just install a fresh OS over the top?

Hi folks. Hope this is the right place to post. Trying to get Yosemite up and running on an old 2.1 macbook pro A1211. I used MacPostFactor from Lion. The first boot seemed okay just had to fix the sound with the AppleHDA.kext, but on a restart I get as far as entering my password and it just sits there with a spinning cog (. I have a lot to learn when it comes to os x so bear with me, hence the reason for trying to get this old mac working. Any ideas would be welcome.

Yeah, I've had that spinning cursor at login too with iMac 5,1 and 6,1. What I did was various combos of pressing Esc, option, apple, control keys and/or clicking the mouse button or moving mouse wheel... eventually I got to the desktop... You just have to play with these key and mouse combos... if you can get to desktop, then change your Login preferences to "automatically login" instead of requiring password.

I found Nvidia package that installs on my iMac 6,1 and it does install, and shows up in Preferences pane and at the menu bar saying "NVIDIA Driver active " or something like that, but alas, it still doesn't work.. About Mac still shows 9MB only for my GeForce 7300 GT card.

And like you, it's not worth it to buy a new video card no this old Mac. If there's no quick solution to this, I'm likely to re-install Mac OS X 10.7.5 and be done with it... but as most know ,the problem with that is it doesn't have latest browser versions to view most websites these days. Alas.

On an aside, I also have iMac 5,1 (which is slightly earlier model than 6,1?).. with X1600 card and there is KEXT for that, and it works fine to bring back 128MB in its About Mac! Go figure?!

I just started trying to install Yosemite a few days ago with the tools in this thread on two older macs running 10.7.5. No luck, the default boot.efi from OSXExtractor is unsupported so I tried Tiamo's 32 bit version. It doesn't boot either.

I installed refind to get some more debugging infomation about the boot process. Using the boot.efi from OSXExtractor, I get "Unsupported". Using Tiamo's boot.efi results in "Not found returned from boot.efi" regardless of whether I use OSXExtractor or SFOTT. boot.efi is there, but it's referring to something missing?

I was wondering, seeing as people have had troubles with updates, as to whether or not I'm making a mistake starting from 10.7.5 - I'm going to try a fresh install of 10.7 next.

Oh, I also wanted to mention that MacPostFactor gives me an error 1 with either Yosemite or El Capitan. Not sure what that's about. Same screen shot as above.
[doublepost=1489707958][/doublepost]

My bad, booting Tiamo's boot.efi directly from the EFI Shell does work. Onwards!
I get the same "Not found returned from boot.efi" error trying to boot from MOSE 1.42 created USB2.0 installer. Could you guys please let me know the exact command to boot from the EFI shell.

You can try to delete AMDsupport.kext and rebuild kext caches, it should work if you have installed ATIsupport.kext from OSXHackers kext installer.

It seems to be an issue related to the last kext installer.
I suppose you have restored your OS to the moment before executing the kext installer.
Do this:
Download the intaller again, open it with the flat package editor, extract Payload, rename it Payload.zip, unzip it (I'm using Keka). A Payload bigger file will appear, rename it Payload.zip again, unzip it, go to /S/L/E inside of the folder that will be created when unzipped, take the kexts and copy them to your /S/L/E. This is a way to install kexts withouth losing your Dock.

Hello, new to the forum.
I'm trying to install Yosemite using macOS Extractor on my A1181. I cannot figure out how to get the Auto Patch to install on my installation partition. I tried replacing the boot.efi files with the file available at the link in the OP (within the Pages document), but that didn't work. I re-locked both of the boot.efi files, but that didn't help.
What can I do to get this to install? I'd really like to get this running Yosemite, but I'm hitting constant blocks trying to do it.
This is a 32 bit Core 2 Duo Late 2007 Macbook.

Hmm... I thought a late 2007 MacBook is a supported install for Yosemite?
