After my phone was stolen by a UPS worker or someone in the shipping chain I walked into Best Buy and bought one.

Hey Guys,

So I cancelled. EFF APPLE... Ordering experience to be specific...

I took my chances... went to the mall and got there around 7:30 AM, about 100 ppl ahead of me. They came around taking reservations, and I got a spot.. Doors opened at 8am, we were in for a long wait.

In the corner of my Eye, I saw a store opening its doors as well... it was AT&T.. Told the fella in line next to me, you'll remember me if I come back, right, he said off course..

I didn't come back :)

ATT took care of me... They waived any upgrade/activation fees as courtesy, They gave me an iPhone 8 Plus virtually free (had to open a new line, but gave me a credit for the life of loan to offset the additional line charges), anddddd $100 applied ontop of all that, because I chose to buy the phone with them instead of Apple..

PS - I had to buy it on NEXT (thats how ATT gets commission from APPLE) but can pay it all off after 30 days. Exact same price, nothing additional, no Gotchas

I really wish the best for all of your...

Time of Order Completed: No idea, was frantic trying to get the page/app to work
Phone: 256gb Space Gray (T-Mobile)
Vendor: Apple website (via Safari on a MBP)
Email Confirmation: 3:08am EST
Nov. 17th - 24th
Status: Order in Progress
No pending charge on CC

Usually the iPhone app or the iPad app would work for me, but THIS time I got thru first on my MBP, my cousin (located in Jamaica, but delivery to the States) ordered 2 256gb PIF (T-Mobile) and initially got the Nov. 10th window (Nov. 10th - 17th I believe) but got bumped to today - his confirmation email came in at 2:06am (3:06am EST/12:06 Pacific).

October 27th was a bad day for me - couldn't get into Apple Store online in time AND Amazon/USPS lost my Super Mario Odyssey game that was guaranteed for Release Date Delivery that was ordered from January.

Even IF this continues to happen, I would still prefer paying for my device in full - I don't like tying up my budget with monthly costs, I am much more financially attuned to incurring a big expense and taking it slow that month or the month prior/after rather than taking on another subscription. But with the recent moves by Adobe/1Password/etc. and even Best Buy with their iPhone X tactics I am concerned.

Cool story.

Just called Target down the street from my house. they have them in stock so think I am going to cancel my order and go pick one up. My order hasn't moved and no pending charges. Sort of silly to wait if places have them in stock.

It's very frustrating to see so many reports of people walking into stores and picking up a phone, on top of all the IUP customers with the same (or worse) delivery ETAs as us getting their phones Monday, while we're sitting with no movement at all on PIF orders. Still seems reasonable to expect our orders should ship any time now, but the experience right now is not great, that's for sure.

In central florida, All the target's have them in stock, no line ... Apple Store nearby has plenty in stock ... Line, but manager said they don't expect to run out.

They gave out reservations if you didn't' want to wait on the line, so I will go back at 2PM to pick up exactly what I want.

I agree with the complaints, the way they do the preorder is nonsense ... It shouldn't be easier to walk in on the first day than it is to preorder at 3:01AM.

Edited to add: Most of the people at the line were clearly scalpers, the group in front of me was a family of 4, each buying QTY 2. I spoke to the lady behind me, buying Qty 2 to send to brazil.

I have to go to Target in about an hour to pick up a new Apple watch so I'm going to see if they have any X's in stock. If they do and they have the configuration that I want then I'll cancel my pre order and just get one. Doubt they will have any but it's worth a shot.

Time of Order: 2:20am cst US Oct. 27th(had issues with the Apple App)

Order in Progress Status

Woke of this morning and checked my status and no change. Decided I may go out and just try to buy one. Checked my checking account and the charges for the full price of the phone show Pending Status(which is new). Pended Status means the bank approved the charges. Not sure if that means Apple processed the charges yet.

I can afford to buy a 2nd one but don't want the hassle of trying to sell one lol. Since the charges show pending in my checking status I'm probably stuck waiting for the Iphone X I pre-ordered.

Just a update. My checking account has been charged the full amount of the phone $1092.41. No longer in pending status. No update to when the phone will be shipped. Still in OIP status.

I'll let you know if something changes. I honestly think its a good sign that I have been charged. Hopefully that means my status will change.

Order in Progress Status

Woke of this morning and checked my status and no change. Decided I may go out and just try to buy one. Checked my checking account and they drafted the full charge of the phone this morning. So Apple took the money out of my checking account but has not changed my status when I would receive the phone. I assume they don't take the money unless they are about to ship it out right?

I can afford to buy a 2nd one but don't want the hassle of trying to sell one lol. Since they already drafted the money out of my checking I guess I'm stuck waiting for the Iphone X I pre-ordered.

1. See if you can cancel your order online... Your saying they have not changed the status, which would mean it is still in OIP. If so, you should still be able to cancel

2. In the event you can't cancel, just return the phone when you get it. No need to hassle with selling it. I would just not open it, to make the return process even smoother.

I changed my post. The charges show as Pending in my checking account. Usually that means they are in the process of being drafted. This is the first day anything posted to my checking account.

Started trying to order via the iOS app at 3:00am EDT... My carrier is AT&T. Connected and completed order around 3:20. Paid in full. Delivery 11/17 to 11/24. I’ll feel lucky to get it on the 17th.

For Target we could use our target redcard and get 5% off? Also, is there a restock fee from target?

To all my PIF brethren and sistrens, I advise you if you have time to visit any of the local stores that may be selling it (Apple, BestBuy, ATT. VZW, Sprint, T-Mobile, Target, etc). We were dupped into thinking there was not enough stock or the selling out stuff was high exaggerated orrrr both..

Either way, get rid of this pain that is coming from this mistreatment the Apple Ordering Process has bestowed upon us.

Once you got a stock in Lock... CANCELLL away!
[doublepost=1509734869][/doublepost]P.S - Beautiful device. But I don't think its work the 1K+ price tag... this is coming from someone who had a 6s+ for two years (which in my opinion was one of Apples best releases). I am going to keep it, but don't expect your socks to be knocked off..

PS 2- FaceID is sooooooo RAD and awesome, don't miss touchID at all!

I went to the Apple store near my work, and the line was three hours long, so sadly, can't wait. Am doing stuff after work, so no way I can spend time going to other stores tonight in the hope they have stock. I wonder what it will be like tomorrow...

I did play with it for a bit while there though, and it's a nice device, but I'm not blown away by it vs. my 6 (which is still working great, to be honest).
