My thing is people complain about jailbreaking not workin and tweaks when pangu hasn't released an official jb with cydia. If people just waited there wouldn't be half these issues

It annoys me that people complain about a jailbreak at all. It's free, there is no obligation for the JB community to provide one. Not talking about people on here... just with the iOS7 JB there was a lot of crap tweeted about Saurik not hurrying up fixing MS and Cydia etc. Like he "owed" people something.

i think it will be fixed. but there is a cydia tweak that disables that function regardless.

Wasn't aware of this...can you post the tweak name? I'm also forced to have a password (corporate pushed policy) and would like to get away from it.

Free to us perhaps, but something tells me this is a business for Saurik

Is disabling the pass lock and TouchID a temporary thing until all the bugs are worked out?

Normally disabling pass code is required to perform the jailbreak. Once jailbroken you can re-enable, however because of bugs in this release, enabling passcode creates a boot loop so if you installed this pre-release of pangu you have to leave passcode disabled

I jb manually under vmware fusion with windows 7 on my iMac ML with my ipad 3,1 from 7.1.2 to 8.1. My ipad is about the same in speed compared to 7.1.2. Maybe a tiny bit optimized faster in some areas. Still same Safari multiple tabs have to reload..I think its because of the little sdram it has.. Ohh well.

The only reason I would want to jailbreak at this point is for the ability to do a wifi site survey. Setting up wifi networks means I need to know what channels are the least occupied (because auto sucks).

I havent had a problem so far with my 6 plus.
I don't mind the safari reloading automaticly cause typically when I open this forum for example I want to reload it to get the latest threads and info showing up.
But its not as bad as people make it sound. You'd be fine.

Thanks! Just ordered mine, let's hope it's defect free

Patiently waiting to jailbreak my ip6 via mac - I know there isn't long to wait and i probably will but what is the fall out of installing it now through a virtual windows route or whatever and adding Cydia after?
I see having a passcode causes problems etc but more thinking if i install tweaks then a stable version is released would i need to start over or will Cydia/pangu push an update to fix the current issues?

I can't send pics, had to use Parallels/XP to jailbreak the windows-only chinese-only jailbreak, Safari fails to load pages (but I replaced where its icon is on dock with Chrome for now until an untether update is issued and disabled pass code/touch ID but with Virtual Home, I still have the functionality to 'slide to unlock' using any fingerprint.. And I need to respring to enable Substrate again upon reboot, but I can prompt that with Winterboard to check and uncheck a theme and then respring (without doing ssh 'killall backboardd', I didn't mind the ssh barrier to entry honestly to get Cydia on there.. smart way to keep the average jailbreaker consumer from trying it until its re-released)

tl;dr

I can live with the shortcomings until Pangu releases the update and a surprising amount of tweaks have worked. That spreadsheet document helps too not have to test too many things with uncertainty.

I am really happy I jumped the gun early. The JB is stable otherwise and my iPhone 6 truly does feel like a new device all over again (between software tweaks and having a Diztronic case now which I loveeee)

:D

iirc iPhone 4/iOS 4 first jailbreak from the dev team broke MMS or something to that effect.. and it was fixed.

There will be an update issued in Cydia.

But if you haven't already, there's no sense in upgrading. For me at least, Safari and iMessage functionality is a must - let alone passcode/Touch ID.

There will be a nearly perfect stable version once Saurik and the Pangu team polish it off, any hour now.

I sure as hell hope so. I still have not been able to get the blue button on the Pangu app. I tried everything. Airplane mode, passcode off, find my iphone off, even had itunes run in the background.

Don't forget those complainers are the same people that pirate their cydia apps.

What I had to do is:

Backup iPhone to iTunes
Restore to 8.1
Jailbreak w/ Pangu

After the successful JB then restore from backup. Then you'll be back to where you started w/ a jailbreak.

Pangu 0.2 from pangu app didn't work for reboot button and resetting would get hung on the black screen.

Volume up upon boot up and rebooting fixed it.

Substrate boots up even with reboots without needing to re-spring and pic messages are fixed.

Now all we need is passcode bug addressed and good to go :D

Thank you. I did restore to 8.1 as a fresh phone, but used my icloud backup to get my info back. Was that the problem?

I did not try to JB the "fresh" phone, only after I put my info back on. Wow that would have been a better idea... but is it OK to restore my info through icloud rather than itunes after the JB?
