What happened to them anyway

don't take my word for it but as far as i can recall from a reddit post they are still around, but maybe they're not that active because they got bored of iOS, and have expressed an interest in moving on to other platforms. They don't get any money from their work, it is purely out of hobby and curiosity. Pangu on the other hand gets money from this, since they are being sponsored by a chinese company.
;)

This is 100% false. Evaders made bank off the ios 6 jailbreak donations+ads they have on their website.

They also attempted to make a million dollars for bundling the Chinese cracked app store with their jailbreak for ios 7.

That is inaccurate.

Yes they received money from donations, maybe they received money from ads.

They entered into a partnership with Taig iOS 7 but as soon as they found out Taig was offering pirated software the ended that and released the JB free, donations for that went to the EFF.

You make it sound ais if they intentionally teamed up with the cracked app store, while it was more of a bad judgement call.

Be a bit more grateful, those guys have donated huge amounts of time and effort to the JB community!

I'm definitely grateful that there is a jailbreak, my point was that the evaders weren't doing it 100% out of the goodness of their hearts.

Before releasing the ios 6 jailbreak, they told users to check the progress on the jailbreak on their site which was filled with ads.

For the Tiag mess, my point was they were expecting to make the million dollars that Tiag offered them. But yes they did intentionally team up with Tiag before they learned about the cracked apps, do yes they were in it for the money.

I'm not ungrateful for the jailbreaks, I'm just trying to point out that both teams are in it for the money, some people (not you) on this forum assume that Pangs is in it for the money while Evaders are doing it out of the goodness of their heart.

So how they're doing with updating pangu, fixing bugs and including cydia with it?
Any news?

I'm holding off until it's out for MAC, fixes the boot loop bugs, and incorporates Cydia within the jailbreak install. Not sure why it's taking so long for the cydia issue, since every previous jailbreak in recent history has included it. I get the delay in releasing a mac client, but common with Cydia!

Because this release was for developers

Developers don't use Cydia? Interesting, that's news to me (as a beginner developer).

No, developers or experienced users don't need hand holding when jailbreaking. When an issue occurs and we need need to restore, we don't come here to complain that it isn't stable. So it's a good thing that cydia isn't included in the jailbreak. Help weeds out people who are way over their heads during this initial period.

The only thing cydia does for developers is hosts the app. kinda like developers for the Apple app store don't need the appstore to auctally make the app. Plus if the developer wanted to test their app from cydia, they can easily install cydia.

I hear you.
As long as they fix all issues like cydia, the passcode and touch ID to work and syncing with itunes those are more major. I wont even bother yet.
About a mac version Im sure people could find a windows computer to just run the JB and be done with it quick.

What happened to them anyway

Pimskeks and Pod2G talked to Cammy H at iDigital Times; she knows them pretty well and started to build a working relationship with all of them in the days the iOS6 JB was being developed. She wrote an article which talked about how Pod2G and Pimskeks are getting bored with iOS jailbreaking; they apparently were very taken with the idea of jailbreaking a Windows phone. I'm sure that excites all 23 people with a Windows phone. Planetbeing (who I think was the driving force behind the iOS6 and 7 jailbreaks) has kind of completely dropped off the radar. If you remember, there was a lot of drama because of the way the iOS7 jailbreak was released, and there was definite tension between Planetbring and Saurik. I think the whole thing might have soured him on jailbreak work, and I know he was/is super busy with real life stuff.

It's certainly possible that those guys get back in the jailbreaking game at some point in the future, but for now it seems they are not active.

Agree 100%. The Mac thing isn't too big of a deal for me. The last 2 devices I used Pangu on was when it was windows only so I just used VMWare

I'm working atm, but is it safe to jb yet? So many bugs lol

IMO. the JB itself is OK, especially 1.0.2 fix the Safari and iMessage problem. And I did't suffer from the iTune sync issue so far.

However, I only recommend this to someone who want to access the system file, but not for Cydia atm.

The buggy part is Cydia, and there is not much you can use from Cydia anyway. So no rush to do that.

ehhh last i looked 419 tweaks were tested with well over half working on 8.1
Having tweaks not updated is always the case with a new jailbreak and not a reason not to jailbreak or release a jailbreak.

Cydia not being ready with at present the passcode/TouchID being the biggest but not the only issue, is a valid reason not to release to the public as it would cause a flood of 'bricked' devices.

Actually there is a lot you can use from Cydia. Most of the tweaks I use are already isOS 8 compatible.

Perfect summary, thanks. I guess I'll wait till the TouchID is fixed among other glitches

I am using TouchID in my 6+ 8.1 JB now, no problem at all, even though reboot is fine. The only time I stuck in the boot was when I upgrade JB from 0.1 to 0.2. I did that without disable passcode. But I still can simple hold Vol up bottom to restart the phone, disable passcode, reboot, and then re-enable the TouchID.

However, may be just because I am lucky. Some others report that they stuck in the infinitely boot loop even with the Vol up bottom.

I would wait for a stable release. Don't like to be a beta tester for a device I use all day.

Yea is definitely not for everyone. Personally I'm enjoying it and have not had any problems.
